      Hi All,

This is my 1st ever review on Carwale. Ever since i was a child i was bought up in this environment of Japanese and Korean brands, with just one outlook that a car should hve good fuel economy and shud b low at maintenance. But times hve changed and now other factors such as ride, handling, premium feel, features r considered. I owned a Hyundai  i10 Kappa engine b4 this, and altough the car was very good in most of areas and did its job very well. But did not excelled in any one area. its never caused any problems in its tenure of 2 yrs and 35K KMs it was with me. But due to the rising cost of petrol and space issues (family of 4 with average height being 5'7".myself being 6'1 😄) during long journeys compelled me to change. Also, at the time of buying my i10 i had considered Fabia petrol, but again due to the above factors nad some family opinions i shifted my mind to i10 even though i liked evr aspect of the Fabia over i10. But this time i wanted a car which gives me absolute thrill n pleasure while driving(as i drive myself). So here my experience:

      Exterior

Quite elegant. Please all offend none types. although understated quit crisp, typical German (some bits taken from Audi stable). i especially like the side profile. The Volkwagen logo looks awesome on the front grille.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Altough there is a common belief that it it a Polo+Boot, let me clarify that only parts are shared btu it is a sedan which is built from scratch. The interior space is good. can accomodate 4 persons wid ease. It actually can pack in 5 but the huge hump(trasmission tunnel) limits it. Ergonomically perfect, but i personally feel the turn indicators shud hve been on the right side. The positioning of the front armrest is debatable though. altough for me its perfect 😎. the dashborad layout is pretty simple but ergonomic.typical German. Except for one absurdly placed bonnet openin lever which if u need to open the door as its confilts wid the door panel. Seats r quite nice altough i feel a bit more thigh support wud hve been better. Legroom good, Steering feel and positioning is great. On the features list especially for the trendline version is disappointing altough the cabin quality makes u forget that. Driver side door shud hve access to all windows(my i10 also had). the ac blower noise is also on the higher side for 3+ Speed. Premiun feels once ur in side the cabin.Rest fine.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Its a stonking diesel this one..Hoots, bomb to drive. Lots of low end torque and quite linear too.Just press the accelerator n off she shoots. But the clutch shud hve been a bit more soft compared to fluidic Verna(my uncle owns it n hve driven for fair amt of kms). Also, i feel the diesel lacks on the refinement levels too when compared to competitors. Fuel ecoomy is very good. I get 14-15 in city(peak hour mumbai traffic) and 18-20 on highway. Gear shifting is good but cud hve been better. Top speed also good. personally touched 180 kmph on expressway.

      Ride Quality & Handling

This is where the Germans hve mastered it. The Japanes and Koreans will take ages for it. At low speeds, straight lines or throw it around corners, u will never feel nervous. Although ABS cud hve been the perfect icing on the cake but by no means it lacks bike without ABS. Also, i personally feel the tyre size shud hve been atleast 15"n above. At low speeds there r sliht thud that filter in but thats due to the stiff suspension setup altough the people onside r not bothered much.

      Final Words

Final Say: Own it to believe it. Just dun judge it on the features list alone. Kepp it up VW!! Way to go.

      Areas of improvement

Add ABS and bit more on the finicky features, make small mud flaps, increase the service network, bonnet opening lever, tyre sixe.

A stonking diesel engine, build and plastic quality, good fuel economyLess features to competitors, engine refinement, mud flaps too long

Exterior Understated styling but really elegant.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortable, styling is elegant but typically germanic.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Difficult to say that theres a diesel under the hood...its that quiet inside the car.The engine is efficient with a no-nonsense way of getting the thing done.Torque is really awesome, drove at 25km/hr in fourth with no engine knocking at all.Past the 1000 rpm mark it really zooms.

Ride Quality & Handling Awesome, suspension is fabulous,no bumps filter through on rough patches.

Final Words Got mine from OSL Exclusive in Kolkata.Dealer experience was very good.Got 20000 rs worth of free accessories. The on road price was 945000 but after doing the insurance myself and VW giving a further "doctor's discount"of Rs 12444 the onroad price came to Rs915000.all in all a good deal to me!The dealer showroom is really classy and sales reps are very helpful. The fuel economy is 13.5km/l but that is in the city, sure it will be higher on the highway and city economy will probably increase after the car has run a few thousand kms.

      Areas of improvement None really!

Good style and engine performanceNothing really1

      Exterior

very good look strong body but still needed i thing for fuel efficiency purpose VW had reduced weight in body when compar to other models

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

nice interior but its very confusing why indicator is right side(VW vento lounched only in india i think so if wrong sorry) and confusing with Indian traffic rules

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

very smooth engine, paka efficeiecy grear box is so good and soft but clutch and vibration in clutch is there when engine is ideal at that time if i give accelerate it gives jerk of whole car body this two problem is there in all VW car just chect this when you are driving it

      1. while going in high way just keep your foot in clutch you cal feel the vibration

2.accelerate when your vehicle is ideal without any gear it will shake the whole body

i had tested in most of the car in service station i felt the same in all cars i dont know why VW did not noticed it

      Ride Quality & Handling

      very go od

      Exterior Not bad.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) To be improved.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Noisy engine. Gear shifting is too bad and very hard.

      Ride Quality & Handling NA.

Final Words Keyless Entry (Remote in VW Vento trendline, Breeze) is must for branded car. Giving Rs.40,000 worth accessories is not a great thing but the remote is an most essential one.. because now a days there is a remote lock even for maruthi 800.. so jus think of it. VW is loosing many customers for tis reason in tamilnadu. Remote is not a very big accessory in such a brand car. so VW team should think of it and make some positive need to customers. also VW should give this accessory to all basic model customers in free of cost. If not the Basic models in VW is totally waste.

Areas of improvement Remote locking, body styling, xenon head lamp, steering mounted controls, alloy wheels, fog lamp. Exterior should b same as highline. So u can get more customers.

Good fuel economy.., comfortness, stylish, horn, steering wheel,Very bad interiors, no keyless entry, alloy wheels, Air conditioner, Engine noise, No fog lamps,

I bought Volkswagen Vento Trendline Diesel one week back. It's an awesome car and I'm really enjoying its performance!!!

Exterior I love the looks and solid build of this car however it may vary from person to person.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are excellent and especially I like the color combination of dash boards and door pads, rear A/C vents, Volkswagen logo in the steering wheel etc. The only draw back is the big hump in the rear legroom which restricts the comfort of the 3rd passenger in the rear seat.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I think I have to write something more here, the engine performance and response of the vehicle is simply superb and you 'll hardly feel any turbo lag. I became a die heart fan of this car mainly due to the driveability, stability at high speeds, suspensions (very much fit for Indian roads), Volkswagen master piece horn etc...Overall it's a great engine and i'm getting an amazing mileage of 20.5 kmpl.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality and handling is awesome, I took the test drive of almost all the cars in this segment and I felt this is the BEST!! Especially I love it's stability even beyond 150 kmph.

Final Words Altogether it's really a great package and I'm sure that you'll love this vehicle once you take a test drive. I have seen lot of negative reviews about Volkswagen dealers but fortunately the dealer I have interacted with was very helpful and and they were supporting me all the time :)

Areas of improvement The only draw back I can see in this vehicle is the big hump in the rear leg room, this vehicle will be a great success if Volkswagen does some improvement on this area. However, I'm really enjoy each and every moment with my car :) and I'll surely recommend this car to my dear ones.

      Exterior Good.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Fine.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very Poor all time it needs some maintanance, this time it cost me 30K, with a gear assambly of 16000 plus oil plus filters plus labour, its just been 3 years, 43000Kms, very bad exp.

Ride Quality & Handling Well dont drive too fast it wont come in control that fast specialy turns on highways can be risky. Wind sheet quality is very bad, poor headlights ac is not good enogh for passangers on back seat.

Final Words They could not develop good service centres. No skilled people with them .. so poor service. costly spare parts and you will always replace them by your money because those are company's fault and choosing VW was yours.

Areas of improvement VW needs to replace all its cars on roads first with tested OK ones .. in simple words you need overall improvement.

Looks and nothing elsewell except looks all are subjected

I own a Vento Trendline 2012 model, driven 9000 kms in last 6 months. Plain exteriors and interiors, no nonsenese, look good and sturdy, lack some essential features like ABS, EBD which should have been there in all versions.

Handling is good at low and high sppeds as well. I have driven it at 180 kmph and it was rock sturdy and did not make me nervous (did not go furthur as my wife was getting anxious ;))

All in all a good buy at the price that they are offering it. It also has a Ground clearance issue when driven with 2 adults in the back seat, whithout them it is better but still it tends to touch from the backside if you are riding on a bumpy road with potholes or even at bigger speed breakers.

Some tech guy at VW told me bigger tyres might help but i am unsure. The most important thing missing though is the REMOTE LOCKING in TRENDLINE. I am shocked they do not provide it as an ADDON as well. Would have loved to have one even today.

Crazy thinking GuYS at VW..Wake up

Sturdiness, control on high speeds and spaceNo remote central locking, net even as an addon

I bought the VW Vento 1.6 TDI Trendline on 5th Nov'12 and i am quient happy with this car.

I bought this vehicle from Volkswagen Bareilly, A VW dealer in Bareilly (U.P). After reading so many negative reviews about dealers, forces me to put tis point. I am Very HAPPY with my VW Dealer.

Loved the performance of the Vehicle. Handling is too good. This car shows the powerful performance on both Highways and Cities. This car gives you great comfort with the real performance.

Once been to Murthal in Sonepat district of Haryana on NH-1 with my 3 friends. Maximum speed we achieved there was 158 KmPH (please do not try to overspeed, its dangerous), which is quiet impressive.

Real AC vents provides cooling effects for the passengers setting at the back. Interior is simple but it's really delighted and is ever-green.

Record the Mileage of around 16 - 17 KMPL on AC in traffic of Delhi and around 18-19 KMPL on Highway with AC, which is Quiet good for a 1600cc Engine.

At this price tag, VW sholud provide the inbuilt Music player and all 4 Power windows control on the driver side except only for the 2 Front windows.

Rest is amazing for this vehicle. Go and Grab the vehicle with your eye cloed !!!

Looks, Spacious, Fuel Economy, Performance, ComfortMusic Player Missing, Rear Power window's control not available at Driver side

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Buying a car for 11 Lakhs which does not have rear power window controls in the front is really ridiculous. For the same price, Hyundai Verna is packed with features including electrically folding mirrors, rear view camera, auto a/c, music system with steering mounted controls, ABS, Airbags, Keyless Entry, four wheel disc brakes, alloy wheels and a much powerful engine. When compared with Fluidic Verna, Vento Trendline costing a little less than the SX version can be rated only a big zero out of hundred. You can hear the door beadings squeeking and creeking when you drive on bumpy roads. When I  complained about this to the dealer, he sprayed a white colored sealant on the beading and the noise was arrested temporarirly, but within two days the noise will again come.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Engine performance is very inconsistent, it is good some times and bad most of the times. Very cluttery and noisy engine. Fuel economy on my Vento TDI Trendline was very less at 10 kmpl. I reported this problem right from the beginning and the dealership in Coimbatore just told me that they have updated the software and the vehicle will be good from then. But........nothing has improved so far. There is also a wierd clicking noise during morning starts which fades out after two or three minutes. The dealership is still not able to find out the reason for that.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Ride quality is OK. Handling is very good.

      Final Words

I bought the Vento expecting so much from the German car giant. But to my disappointment, the car is not worth the money I paid. The car has visited the service station more than 15 times within the last two years and I didnt get any permanent solution for any of the problems posted here so far. I SHOULD HAVE GONE IN FOR SOME OTHER VEHICLE AND IT WAS A GREAT MISTAKE TO HAVE SELECTED THE VENTO.

      Areas of improvement

Vento engine, they said was specially developed for the India market. They should not have launched the car without a proper R&D done on the engine and they are releasing updates every month to fine tune the performance.

The rubbers in the doors need to be re-developed or the design needs to be looked into. It is squeaking and creeking very badly.

They should provide more convenience features like four door power window control on the driver side, electrcially adjustable mirrors and a trip computer in Trendline itself.

NothingPoor engine design, poor mileage, poor noise reduction planning, and more to add...

      JETTA CAR (PB02 XX XXXX)

The car as of details below has again now being detected with faulty AC coil and is lying at VW frontier from 23rd February, 2018 onwards.

VW is cheating Indian Customers so openly, and not attending to any of the identified cars fitted with AC having poor technology and defective parts, from the time of installation. I have been told, that VW pushes car in India which has defective parts, and Indian customers bear the brunt. This car has been fitted, with  an AC unit which has seen repairs of compresor, valves and now coil. I have been asked to invest more than 1.5 lacs till date in last mileage done of 90000 kms in total. The car is under repair at VW Frontier onMathura Road, New Delhi  and has been handed over the estimate again of 35000 rupees.

Has VW done any research, on the regular upkeep of JETTA? It dents your pocket so much, you decide at very beginning not to engage with this company in future. Pinches you, after making an investment in your Dream Car, which never functions as per your knowledge on automobiles. Has not received any information from the service centre, on whether the spare part is available or not.

We would like to ask the quality control team to relook on technology that fails constantly and poor customer is being asked to foot the bill. The dealer/service centre waits for customers like us and pounce on them, when they find a spare which has a high capital cost. They act like sharks! The replacement of  the coil should come free of cost. The history of the car repair says so, on faulty ACs. Feel so harassed, if you buy VW in India. Yours non satisfied customer forever.
