      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox After a long wait to own a trusted and Powerful sedan I finally am happy to delighted to be a proud owner of VW AMEO DSG Automatic , specs on paper truly translates on the road.

      I would encourage car lovers and enthusiast to test drive and own a VW AMEO DSG With a huge list of features it is truly hard to resist I tried to name a few but the list kept going. Cruise control, Auto dimming mirrors, Automatic Rain sensors, Auto one touch up and down windows, Reverse parking sensors with camera, touch screen display with Mirror link (only supported on some smartphones), cool glove box, Tilt and Telescopic Steering, Electrically foldable ORVM, Rear AC vents, one touch boot opener, Automatic Climatronic control, Hill Hold, ABS, Airbags, ESP,coin holder, remote window controls, hand rest. Toffee brown color just adds cherry on top.

      Ride Quality & Handling Very good.

      Final Words The sportiness and low fuel consumption of a manual with the ease of an automatic. DSG® is the first gearbox to combine the advantages of both worlds without compromises — no interruptions in traction and maximum driving pleasure.

      It gives: – Ease of shifting at the level of an automatic gearbox. – Split-second gear changes, hardly noticeable to the occupants. – Better driving performance with unbroken acceleration. It's not just a conventional automatic. DSG is a groundbreaking 'two-in-one' concept where twin electronically controlled shafts manage gear selection, always anticipating your next shift. The two independent gearbox units are controlled by a mechatronics module that ensures one gear is always engaged and another preselected. When a gear change is pending, one clutch opens while the other closes.

      The mechatronics makes sure that this occurs faster and more precisely than would be possible manually. In this way shifting occurs without interruptions in traction, in less than four-hundredths of a second. Owing to the double clutch the efficiency of the DSG® is significantly higher than in a classic automatic gearbox with hydraulic torque converter. AMEO DSG AT is definitely a featurstic car that one can look no more (has been loaded with First in Segment features)

      The front part of the car is just amazing, very aggressive like polo and vento. Not much of change here. It will be mistaken for a ventor, which is good. The boot design is very plain and definitely the sharp looks of the front end.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): Best in class interiors can I say? yes it is. Loads of features and comfort. The rear seat space is limited and is better for only 2 adults.

      The Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox are just awesome, this is the best engine in terms of power, not a very refined engine but the cabin insulation is pretty good. Fuel economy is great for an automatic vehicle. The DSG gearbox is state of the art piece and miles ahead of competetion.

      Ride Quality & Handling are good as well, very stable at high speeds and the suspension is on the stiffer side for the diesel variant.

      Quite awesome. A family with 4 members is so comfortable to travel miles together. Gives good breeze, assist driver, boot space is ample. It's a lovely experience for me at the age of 60+.

      Exterior Simple, elegant and old school.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Full of features like cruise control, climate control, rain sensing wipers which are provided in a class above. Space isn't enough if more than 1 passenger. Seats are firm yet comfortable.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox A powerhouse is fitted in the car. Has loads of power on demand. 109 bhp with 250 nm of torque with a PTW ratio of .04 makes it compete with the big boys in segments above. Have made the cars more powerful than this one chase the taillight on highways. 

      Read reviews with complaints on turbo-lag below certain RPM. Guess we need more driving schools making people understand how a car needs to be driven and the mode it should be driven in.

      Ride Quality & Handling Comfortable and grippy. Slight understeer at high speed but nothing that would shake you nervous.

      Final Words A value for money with lots of power in store.

      Areas of improvement Bit more legroom in the rear would be a big improvement.

      It's surprising that this car is not seen much on roads of Mumbai and Pune but I must admit that it is hidden gem at the price on which it is offered. I bought Ameo highline plus dsg Connect edition and I am completely satisfied with this purchase. I went to VW showroom for Vento but came across this new connect edition Ameo dsg. It had a good looking Lapiz blue color with black interiors & black leatheratte seat covers. Booked a test drive and was very much impressed with engines punchy performance, overall driving Dynamics and DSG gearbox. Booked this car on the very second day. Agree that there are few cons line rear seat space, initial turbolag, after sales/service & stiff suspension for city roads but you need to evaluate the car as per your needs. How did I addressed cons and came to conclusions: Rear Seat space : If any of your family member sits in rear is above 6 feet, then he/she might be uncomfortable but you can always make them sit in front which is very spacious and how often do you have such situations to travel together ? And how long you travel ? and how many family members are so tall ?If all the answers are against than you have to look after other option. Initial turbolag: In city bumper to bumper traffic conditions, practically I dont expect instant pickup and whenever we want good speed we can always get this rocket launched on highways. By the way you can always adapt to DSG style and have work arounds to overcome that lag like by double pressing the accelerator. The point is you have to adapt to the gearbox and gearbox has to adapt your driving style. Stiff suspension: Take city bad roads slowly and you would start liking the beauty of stiff suspension on highways. I travel once in everyweek from Mumbai to Pune and vice versa and this beauty just impresses me. After Sales/Service: Sales experience was good. I purchased it from Vidyut Motors in Pune and Akshay was sales person. He was a great help during my journey for delivery of car and also helping me after that. Servicing I have not come acrossed so can't comment but positive about it at least in Pune city and experience from sales. You need to accept that every car has pros and cons but we need to make our mind as what is required for us. I wanted to purchase Skoda Rapid/ VW Vento but this car saved me around 4-5 lakhs on top model but with almost same driving pleaseure. Pros like good driving Dynamics, punchy diesal engine ,milege, performance, black interiors with DSG gearbox are just worthy at this pricing point. Plus Build quality is also a factor to consider buying this car. I am not talking from exterior build quality because any car with best build quality will also suffer a great impact during accident ( be it VW or any other brand). I am talking more about build quality from inside that premium feel that's it. If you are not too much concerned about interior build quality( fit and finish) and that punchy performance with DSG gearbox, I would suggest to look after other great options such as Dzire, aspire, ciaz ( as it is slightly costler that AMEO top model) and many others. But if you want that punchy performance and premium feel under 11l budget, go for AMEO highline plus Connect TDI . PS: Take extended 2 years warranty for peace of mind. Thanks

      The cheapest feature loaded German compact sedan! If you take a test drive you'll buy the car(TDI DSG) It's a rocket diesel you'll just smile when it rides! The gearbox is fantastic since it has the DSG (DIREKT SCHALT-GETREBE) awesome brakes and build quality I'm gonna recommended this car if your planning for the best diesel automatic /manual! It's the most powerful compact sedan having 110ps power with 250nm of torque!

      Back seat space is not much more better . Rest everything is superb. Looks are good perfect city and highway car. My car is mediating center for me. Good mileage power and sound feels gripping.

      Already have a 7 seater and we are a couple with a 5-year-old. So we're looking to replace the small car with more COMFORTABLE, SUB 4 METER, SAFE car. Concentrated on the Maruti stable and thought wagon R is the best option frankly it is the most practical car for local use in India. But really did not like the feel and drive of the vehicle. Then shifted to swift and even checked the Brezza which wife liked so thought of checking other models in that price too. Now the options are SWIFT HONDA JAZZ HYUNDAI SANTRO etc MAHINDRA KUV (EWWW) TATA ALTROZ Features which are absolutely mandatory Fully Automatic Climate control Cruise control Insulated cabin Disclaimer: A few months ago planned to change my primary car so had been visiting German cars Showrooms so my expectations of dealership experience might be high Went to Honda, miserable dealership girls doing their hair chitchatting, AC not functioning, lift not functioning, uninterested sales. So HONDA Hyundai Navi Mumbai. Told them these are the things that i want in the car, still showed me cars without the options.. HYUNDAI Tata: What's your name? What's your phone number? Sit someone will attend to you shortly. Wow-what an amazing welcome.. already made up mind not gonna buy this.. but since we are here lets let it play out. 10 minutes... there are a bunch of sales guys sitting around doing nothing.. i asked why arent u attending us?? Answer: we cant... they will assign someone... Now me and my wife decided to have some fun . and so we looked at the car and went away... The only decent guy in the dealership is the guy serving Tea. So if you want good tea and server go to the tata dealer in Navi Mumbai .. not for a car. Landed at VW Autobahn Navi Mumbai. They did not ask for a name and phone number, asked us to sit offered tea/coffee and requested us to wait for 5 minutes and sales guy will be with us. Sales guy is with us, introduces himself and asks which car we would like to see. At that point.. almost 50% certain we would buy a VW. Tell them what we need in the car ... given 2 options for our need polo and ameo. Polo black interior too claustrophobic ameo light interior.. Sound insulation. best among all other cars Cruise control yes climate control yes rain-sensing wipers yes Auto-dimming IVRM yes Talks about pricing discounting BS4... all fine.. next day when i went to make payment.. did a close inspection of the car.... rear left quarter panel was dented and repainted. Bonnet too was repainted and shoddy job done too. Left the dealership called BU Bhandari in Pune. Got the pics over phone, for automatic highline plus, made transfer booked and went to see car 2 days later, finalized and picked it about 15 days later.. full payment. Driving Drove it 800 kms in a day before the Corona lockdown to take family to MP. I felt more comfortable than my 7 seater, its as powerful as my mpv and weighs 650 kilos less. Went constantly at 110-120 and 140 at times... got a mileage of 18. My daughter could sleep in the rear sit. The handling on curves is exceptional, the curves in ghat section that i used to do at 50 were done at 80-90 and actually took way less time than my bigger mpv. Yet to get it serviced as have done only 3k. Took extended warranty so its got 7-year warranty and RSA. Importance of sound insulation is not really understood unless you drive long distance. I had the company fitted stereo play at volume 5 while i have replaced my system in mpv with 4 channel jbl amp 12 inch woofer, components and state of the art pioneer head unit and even that had to be played at around 40% volume. The sound insulation in VW is so good that you can play the stereo at only 10-15% volume and does not tire you. IF you floor the accelerator or even press it harder you are pushed back into the seat and its like a plane setting off on the runway. Shifting the gears as you accelerate is flawless ... done perfectly at right time... light-footed 2k rpm a little hard footed 3k rpm and if u go harder at 4.5k rpm. Its not as good when you slow down, sometimes shifting a little too soon. Once you buy a german car its hard to go back to Asian ones. Legroom in the rear is not as good... yes but my kid is only 5 and does not need a lot of space.. also we are about 5 foot 6 so our seats are closer to dash. If you are average Indian height the space is fine.. but if you buy this car as a family car where the family is more than average height or weight then its really not a good option. However, it is really built very well so if safety comes first then you can consider this... or for space buy Vento or rapid ... IF the budget is not a constraint... just stick with German cars.

      i have bought volkswagen ameo automatic diesel .it's indian performance interior features are like high class cars like audi it's automatic gear boxes fantastic you can not imagine it .its build quality is very good this is the only car in india which you can get in ten lakh with all the features like automatic gear box cruise control he'll hold control seven speed dsg gearbox sixteen inch alloy wheels .i have compared with audi a three on Carwale.com only few features are changed but it's a fantastic car .once you drive it you'll never buy other car.it's the best car which i have ever bought.you will see in coming years on the roads maximum volkswagen automatic cars will run .
