      First service experience of VW Vento TDI (Diesel) Highline.

      My car shows 14781km on MDI so due for first service. I booked it at World Class Automobile, 68/3, Najafgarh Road, Moti Nagar, New Delhi. The SA (Service Adviser) was Mr. Rajesh Verma. I handed over him the car on 9:45 on 8th September 2012. He advised me to be done the following works.

      -          15Kpaid service

      -          Wheel alignment

      -          Wheel balancing and tyre rotation

      -          Synthetic lubrication

      -          Engine oil filter

      -          Air filter

      -          A/C filter

      -          Fuel filter

      -          Drain plug

      -          Silicon spray

      -          Breaking water

      -          Air conditioner servicing (optional)

      -          Washer fluid

      -          Touching work for minor scratches on front/rear bumpers

      On 4:30 PM he handed over me the car after servicing. The break-up of the items are as under.

      -          15Kpaid service = Rs. 1350 (labour) +

      -          Wheel alignment = Rs. 589 (labour)

      -          Wheel balancing and tyre rotation = Rs. 450 (labour)

      -          Synthetic lubrication (4.4 L) = Rs. 394 (labour) + Rs. 4136

      -          Engine oil filter = Rs. 385

      -          Air filter  = Rs. 395

      -          A/C filter = Rs. 1010

      -          Fuel filter = Rs. 1290

      -          Drain plug = Rs. 85

      -          Silicon spray = Rs. 999

      -          Pressure lock  = Rs. 150

      -          Air conditioner servicing = Rs. 1500

      -          Weight = Rs. 405

      -          D Water = Rs. 40

      -          Washer fluid = Rs. 270

      -          Touching work for minor scratches on front/rear bumpers = FREE

      Total Labour charges = Rs. 2783

      Total Parts charges = Rs. 10665

      Grand Total = Rs. 13448

      Additional Item: I ask them to fit Navigation system (GPS, iPod connectivity, bluetooh, DVD player, CD player, FM/AM radio etc.) And reverse parking camera. This Cost me Rs. 42000.

      Note: 12.36 % Tax on labour, 20% tax on OIL, 12.5% tax on other items.

      Courtesy: Free lunch for two persons, four times coffee for two persons, Free touching for minor scratches & 2% charges waived off for payment through Credit card.

      I think the above experience is good since people are not satisfied from VW services!

      I hope this information will clarify the doubts of many New VW Vento Owners who fears to purchase it.

      Nice car beautiful & decent design. I am using this car for last 6 years. Very good riding experience. Service cost also is in the budget. The superb driving experience I am getting all the time. Volkswagen is really nice German brand. Other cars in this range are not giving such a nice experience. Really good car to purchase, heavy-duty, good mileage also.

      Exterior Same as Scode Rapid.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Nothing different from other competitive brands, have phone answer button on steering wheel but there is no bluetooth in car.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine bit noisy, Fuel economy is average 16KMPL, gear box is fine.

      Ride Quality & Handling I have purchased vehicle in Feb'12, I have observed that there is left pulling problem in my vehicle and have been visiting Service dealer from Mar'12 till date. I have visited more than 8 times until now keeping my vehicle for more than 20-25 days all together.

      1st visit - they have done wheel alignment and returned my vehicle - no change.

      2nd Visit - they have again done alignment and steering adjustments - no change.

      3rd Visit - they have changed left shock absorber and alignment - no change.

      4th visit - they have changed right shock abosrber and then front two tyres which are worn out inside part in 5000Kms - no change.

      5th Visit - Fly doctor visisted for inspecting the car and changed crossmember of the car - no change.

      6th Visit: I have raised complaint to VW germany and was redirected to VW India team check the issue. VW service GM has inspected the vehilce on directions from VW India and kept a report on the left pulling problem and the impact of the pulling to VW team.

      7th visit -  Fly doctor along with other engineers from plant visisted and changed knuckle joints of the car - no change.

      Still there was no change observed and they have changed rear axel and all 4 tyres as the tyres are also 50% wornout inside part by 11000kms.

      Now the vehicle is slightly pulling towards right. Since they have changed all major components of the car, i have been requesting for service history in detail or replace with new car. But VW team is not responding to any of my quieries.

      Final Words Customer care and focus is very bad. they are concerned on sale of car but not safety of the customer. People prefer german brands mostly for the sake of safety and stability, but when they are not showing that interest towards customer after sale, there is no point in prefering this brand. Worst on VW Team for such neliglected and careless behaviour. We can clrealy understand that they are marketing this brand in India showcasing German brand and company but we need to understand that they selling in India and their policies and practices and standards are also as per Indian standards.

      Areas of improvement Customer care, tracking of customer complaints, escallation matrix should be imporved a lot, complaint follow up to be implemented to check if the status of complaint and satisfaction level of customer. Transperency of reaching to next level of management is not there on complaints.

      Exterior

      I own a Highline diesel for more than 6 months now.  The car is phenomenal. It has an understated, subtle charm that one cannot realise until you watch it at peace and not in a hurry of online comparisons for features.  The car has a subtle basic structural resemblance to Audi if you watch it very carefully, if anyone got the taste for art!  It simply got the crisp and executive looks like other German premium cars...

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

      The diesel highligne has got steering audio control, steering tilt and height adjust, phone bluetooth connectivity, space and holders for bottles, high quality plastics seen in premium cars, high quality leather seats, beige with darker two tones interior, vanity mirror, central locking with driver, remote locking, window locking, anti-pinch windows, boot opening button and remote boot opening, desmodronic keys, ignition auto lock, airbags in steering and for co passenger, lots of display features - mileage, km driven, time driven, km to service, fuel low warning, door ajar warning, handbrake warning, speedo, then we have speed adjustable wiper controls. rear side view mirrors control, window updown child lock, door opening child lock, spacious legroom, spacious cabin, rear ac vents, rear armrest, rear seat belts, height adjustable front seat belts, copassenger seat adjust from rear seat.  Also VW has optional rearview camera and touchscreen display provided by the showrooms (only VW recommended, local dealers installation not recommended and will void the 2 year warranty).

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

      VW engine is simply amazing, it is highly refind and has got lot of torque.  Mileage i achieved in highways is 20 and in cities more than 15.  5 speed gearbox is butter smooth... not much noise in cabin with windows fully up.

      Ride Quality & Handling

      It has got abs, airbags and very highly stable at very high speeds, means you will feel the control of the car if you want to apply brakes at that speed and body roll is minimal.  Torque is amazing even after a speed of 140 / 150 kmph, the vehicle provides lot of buffer to pull further with much ease.

       Once I drove to a nearby place and all i could reach due to the traffic and road conditions was 130 kmph only and many hatchbacks were overtaking me at that speed, i got bit sceptical.  Then i went on a longer trip with my family (incl. kids), when i was at a 50km stretch of the national highway road which is usually with less traffic i really wanted to test the speed limits and i could see (forget the hatchbacks) Toyota Corolla, Honda City, Duster, Hyundai Verna etc almost many cars that i wanted to race with were all trying for their stint at that stretch.  My vento proved the winner, with me attaining a topseed of around 175 and there was absolutely no problem in handling, comfort, noise of the engine or stability of the car, applying brakes to reduce speed wasnt a problem either.  The verna guy tried with his car at certain points to overtake but when there were bends in the roads verna let him down as i know braking and stability in japanese or korean cars are not that rock solid like german VW. Duster couldnt manage more than 150, City could manage 160, Corolla was even lesser. Though i have to be honest that indian roads (even highways) are not designed for very high speeds, so continuing to test my vehicle beyond 175, i could feel that it was not safe.

      shock absorbers do a very good job in our roads in highways.

      Final Words

      Thus its not only the speed, its also stability and sturdiness that is important in a car that we should look for.  And, Germans do have that rappo in providing stability and sturdiness along with performance.  Japanese and Koreans are pure copycats, either in design or any other feature.  All the extra bells & whistles they provide are just to attract ignorant customers who do not know the most basic things that they should be looking for in a sedan car.  With family i could test car to its limit, thank you VW for your engineering perfection.

      not a good experience to have this car.

      Look and Style  descent car-- classy interiors ,leather seats etc.

      Build quality When I enter the cars cabin it feels classy. the build quality of plastic interiors,switch controls, seat adjusment handles, leather wrapped steering wheel-- all are good.Exteriors are well too, good quality door hanldes and paint.noise of closing doors is very high. 

      Comfort It is comfortable to drive this car on highway, good suspension,there is body roll at corners(hilly areas),tilt as well as telescopic feature of steering wheel makes driver much comfortable.

      Rear seat is good enough for ladies,there is enough knee room but less head space.

      Mileage Mileage in city is around 14 and on highway it is 18.

      Best Features Very good audio system with steering mounted controls, height adjustable driver seat and all headrests, parking sensors work very well, one touch up and down automatically all doors glasses, ,rear vents  also tilt and telescopic steering wheel

      Needs to improve Ground clearence is good but should be 10 to 15 mm more,noisy engine audible in cabin,less head space

      Maintainance Maintainance is very very costly, if u compare with other cars it costs u about 5 to 6thousand more every year, it doesnot require frequent repairs,Every Service cost is around Rs 11-12000 and it is after every 15000kms.

      Overall Experience It is good car but not best sedan under 11 lac,it has just vw image nothing else---if u r looking for best sedan under 11 lakh, go for new rapid. well still vento it is better than fludic verna,verna has just looks---very bad suspension and handling.

      If u want a class then definitely go for new featured vento or rapid

      Because of its high quality plastics, safety, suspension,ride quality,comfort both at front and rear also the great engine (specially it is very easy to overtake other cars on road ) very good audio system, newly added features usb, aux, bluetooth, steering mounted controls etc.

      Ride quality and handling is ver very good both at low and high speeds, clutch is light, steering wheel is light-very easy to drive in cities.

      Its maintenance is costly but if u compare hardly Rs 3000 to 3500 per year more than other cars as most of the cars in this segment requires regular service at 10000 kms it requires a service after every 15000 kms.

      Service at 15000 kms cost u around 8500 and and at 30000 kms it is around 12000 which includes break pads.

      Service maintenance is costly because oil used in service is synthetic oil cost around Rs 4500.

      Build quality, suspension, awesome interiors,power, newly added features,comfort,mileageLow ground clearence -- should be 7 to 8 mm more

      Exterior

      Exterior styling is an individual choice. For me Vento comes with understated styling with less cuts and creases compared to Japanese/Korean models. It is definitely not a head turner but I believe more you look at this car it grows on you. For me it looks more sober on road and it does speak out its presence on road even through it has understated styling.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

      When you get inside this car, you might not get blown away with futuristic design dashboard and equipment level, rather what you notice is plane looks of interiors.  This does not mean it lacks features, it has all possible usuable features like automatic climate control, rake and reach steering, trip computer, reverse parking sensors, driver seat height adjust & definitely very good leatherette seats (highline model). Back seat legroom and under thigh support is one of the best in its class. The design of the dashboard is good and an individual can have good road visibility. Every control falls very easily on the hand (only one area you need to adjust is turn indicators & wipers are opposite compared to Japanese & Korean cars). Finally, one of the most reassuring part is once you close the door you will hear a nice THUD sound which is music to ears assuring you are surrounded by good metal body, which is definitely missing in Japanese/Korean/American car manufacturers. Even the plastics used inside is top notch and really screwed well because even after driving 23K Kilometers there is absolutely no rattling sound. 

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

      It has one of the best diesel engines in its class (105 BHP). Engine is so tractable that you can pull in 3rd gear from 20KMPH to 120KMPH easily. Best part of this car is its engine & why not after all it is VW group. I have driven till date 23,000KM and most of my drive is home-office-home & few long highway drives. In town it gives me mileage of 13-14KM/L whereas on highway it gives me 22-25KM/L (@80-100KM/H speed). There is no turbo lag at all and very drivable engine in bumper to bumper traffic or on highways. 5 speed gear box is absolutely fantastic to use & is very sleek. 

      Ride Quality & Handling

      Ride quality is absolutely amazing. In straight line stability no car in its class (Japanese/Korean or American) can match Germans. Vento also performs well on twisty roads with almost no body roll. From handling perspective, steering is quite light in low speeds whereas it weighs up well as you gain speed. Absolutely no complain on ride quality and handling whether you are driving in town or on highways (highway driving in Vento will put smile in your face).

      Final Words

      I can see lot of people complained about this car but as an owner I have never faced any challenge in service nor in spares. Not sure if some of these comments are unnecessarily exaggerated. For my first service I have spent close to INR 11K, which was done in June 2013. This year also the cost is INR 11.5K (including wheel alignment). This is definitely not expensive in any manner. Secondly, in 2013, there was an issue with AC Flop motor in my car. Air was not getting circulated from central vents. Car was returned back to me in 2 days in perfect condition. Also as the part was under warranty there was no amount I have to pay apart from pickup and drop charges of INR 300. 

      Areas of improvement  

       

      I suggest VW to improve lighting of headlights. Another concern area for me in Apollo tyres which are not of good quality and runs only 35K-40K KMS.  It will be good if it comes with Bridgestone factory fitted tyres.

      Exterior The clean, simple and timeless design of the exteriors.With addition of black/smoked headlamps now vento looks more aggestive and looks upmarket and luxurious like its elder brother jetta and passat .vento though desgine on polo patfrom but the hole package isnt look like a polo with a boot its a balanced car unlike swift drize ! No nosense cruves and lines just clean simple -Beautiful 

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) From the inside car trully seem to be statement of luxury every thing inside is top noch and well crafted .Vento comes with Leather seats ,a quality leather and well fitted .The soft touches of chrome on the interiors. Gives a very premium feel to the car.The new ICE. I’m not a hardcore music guy, so this seems sufficient for me. Of course, i would have hated the earlier system which didn’t even have a USB port!The steering - its super light and a pleasure to drive. Does have audio controls too.beside all Nav system also fitted on windsheld with rear cam option for hassel free parkin-in -out .rear seat is also spacious but more for the two rear passenges ,rear middle hump rear a pain for highway The rear seat comfort (more so with the AC vents) . overall its refects a ture and very erocomic cabin desgin and feel like sitting in audi(probably )

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The 1.6 litre diesel monster. Simply amazing.With 104 Ps power city or highways you never complain of underpower, very effecient and promises to delivery decent figure in fuel economy ( I am getting 22kmpl city uptill now 600km done) Turbo just kick -in between 1.5-2.0 so its hassel free to vroom around city traffic.The noise from the engine. Could have been better insulated.overall vento surely a head turner in city road !!

      Ride Quality & Handling The handling is very good not as good as fiat linea but its 2nd next to linea for handling quality .At any speed you never lose confidence ,and at tight cornering vento never let you down. suspension is also excellent in vento not so much soft not so much stiffer side just perfect for indian road conditions.

      Final Words volkswagen offers a poor mans audi .sheer pleasure you get from vento every thing is just perfect and the build quality is top notch and best for indian road conditions.True value for money best in its class ! 

      Areas of improvement The noise from the engine. Could have been better insulated. Beige. Beige. Beige. Its all over the place. Although it helps in making the interiors airy and feel big, its a tough thing to maintain. The headlights are inadequate. Need to upgrade on this.may be dual projects headlamps seems excellent .

      ABOUT THE CAR

      1. The name and the Badge.

      2. The drive and the feel of the car is superior that any other car like Verna, Amaze and Honda city.

      3. Smoother drive.

      4. Excellent pickup. better  mileage in Diesel. and the diseal version is best selling car of VOLKSWAGEN.

      5. The interiors are excellently designed. and you really get a feeling of sitting in a superior car. the chrome lining in the highline adds the spark.

      6. Nice positioning for the center hand rest for driver.

SITTING IS EXECELENT SPECIALLY IN HIGHLINE WITH LEATHER SETS. DASH BOARD IS NEATLY DESIGN AD STURDY. I WISH THE DASH BOARD IS FINIFHED IN FULLY BLACK INSTED OOF BIEGE.
