Exterior Rid height is too high. Paint easily gets chipped-off and too thin, Some of the styling looks like the Honda Civic (ES).
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is spacious, Seats are not comfortable should have followed the design of Vios, Cluster gauge have recalls.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is not that bad a little bit higher fuel consumption compared to Vios. Etios = 12-2km/l, Vios = 15-16km/l. this was tested on the same driving condition and highway.
Gearbox is terrible even if it is brand new. 1st to 5th gear it can shift smoothly but when it comes to reverse there is a crunching/grinding noise of the gears. Even if you double clutch which is stated in the owner's manual or shifting it to 1st gear then reverse gear still have the same crunching/grinding noise of the gears. I brought this up to the service centre and adjusted the clutch twice and the problem does still exists. The Foreman, Technical Personnel and Service Manager just scratched their heads and told us that they can't do anything about it.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality & handling is good.
Final Words Overall the car is BAD. There are other low cost car that is far more better than Toyota Etios.
Areas of improvement Gearbox (reverse gear to be specific) they could have design it in such a way it can be shifted smoothly. Give it a more comfortable seats Toyota.
Not bad for a low cost car.Crunching Noise of the reverse gear
