      After taking testdrive of DZire, Manza I went to test drive TOYOTA Etios. Drove 20 KM @ 120 KM/Hr speed and my experience as follows.                                                                

      Best power to weight ratio, very good space, smooth gear change, fuel efficiency, less maintanence, the engine is very responsive, strong and efficient at the same time. The ver test drive will get feel you Toyota performance engine quality. The car was utterly stable @ 120 KM/hr test drive.

      Finally taking decision based on the experience, I bought it and after driving over a year just want to add that it has a very low maintenance cost too.  I like the responsive steering and effortless EPS. the steering makes the car a pleasure in traffic heavy situation, as well as roads wwith twists and turns.

      My suggestion is go for it if you want less maintanence with good perfomance. You can get sporty look car by adding accessories like front and rear bumper spoiler, sun wiser etc.

      Exterior Exteriors are quite sober, neither too sporty / flashy nor too monotonous. 

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The car is packed with all necessary features for its class. Space is awesome. Toyota should have advertised it as CAAAAAR . Plenty of leg space for front seats & rear too. Dont even get talking about boot space, which is the best in its class. You'll wonder how they managed to make such space (we call it a space shuttle).

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is nice. Acceleration is pretty fast, owing mainly to its low kerb weight and a solid powerful engine. As for the fuel economy, it depends on driving style. I take out around 15km/l in city with heavy traffic (south delhi), and 17km/l on highways (sometimes more). Gearbox is smooth with good handling. The only deficeincy i found was a weak first & second gear.

      Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good for medium distance. In long runs, you'll find the suspension is what you have paid for. For better suspension, long drives, better opt for Innova / Camry.

      Final Words Haven't found a better car which is money's worth in this budget. Ample space. Good economy. Pure handling / driving pleasure. Nice steering wheel. Its a breeze in city driving (while I found dzire to be cumbersome in city). 

      Areas of improvement Slightly sturdier built. More ground clearance. Better suspension. Just a few nice touches to exteriors. But then they'd price it beyond the range. Which defeats the whole purpose.

      Ample space, good fuel economy, good service.Frail built.

      Final Words ITS TRUE VALUE FOR MONEY. BEST CAR IN THIS PRICE SEGMENT, ESPECIALLY FOR FAMILY OF FIVE AND TALLER PERSONS. HIGH WAR DRIVING AT 120 KMPH IS EXCELLENT. EVEN IN HILLY AREA IT PERFORMS WELL.

      I drove the vehicle to the last point in Dahramshala dist in himachal from delhi covering 1200 kms. Drove continuously for 6 hrs without fatigue. We carried almost everything from the house without any problem. most of the time i was driving at 100kms without any effort. Gear ratio is so good that u dont need to change gears frequently. it can pick up speed in fourth gear also. even on the steepest hills with wet surface there was no problem in climbing.

      Areas of improvement SOME IMPROVEMENT IN INTERIOR LIKE LIGHTS ON POWER WINDOW SWITCES, SLIGHTLY BETTER SEAT COVERS. DASH BOARD DISPLAY CAN BE MADE MORE VISIVLE.

      Exterior

      After driving Alto for about 4 years, I decided to move on to a little bigger car which has more space and comfort, also a large boot space as we carry lot of luggage’s when we go out, particularly to our native. Earlier in 2011 when Etios was launched and then when the Diesel version and Liva was launched I did the TD, but felt what a pathetic car by seeing the interiors, noise, weight of the car felt to be unsafe for driving, etc. However, my situation and circumstances took nearly 2 plus years after having tested 12 Brands and nearly 20 different cars to finally come to a conclusion. But this time after hearing the facelift versions are exceptionally good, I did the TD of Etios or Liva (P & D versions) felt what an awesome style (a proper sedan) with a brilliant rebuilt and finish from Toyota, much more better than the previous versions and finally made up my mind to go with Etios G for the price which I could afford. 

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

       Standard interiors with very convenient and spacious at rear and front, seats are particularly good compared to the previous versions, features are relatively the same but this time better plastic, finishing was good with better insulation to reduce the noise hearing inside, still you can hear the horn sound more than the outsiders hear it.  Good MP3 2 Din music system. Convenient to sit drive in the city and high ways for a long hours. Overall fine for the cost we pay. It is a practical car no sophisticated features.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

      Standard and high responsive Engine, Fuel Economy i am yet to comment as i have driven just 450 kms after getting the vehicle delivered on 13th Dec 2013. It has a smooth gear box transmission, brilliant and smooth steering (I really got zapped bcoz of this), once i felt the vehicle is slightly underpowered although it has a 1496 cc engine. Speed and control is awesome, can be an easily handled by any beginners also. 

      Ride Quality & Handling

      Driving the car in City and Highways are good, sometimes feel you are sailing and you would feel the car is grip less, but the make is done in such a way. However we have to make up our mind and stay assured that Toyota products are well known for its reliability, durability and Quality. 

      Final Words

      Although it took a lot of time for me to finalize this car by reading all the reviews in Car Wale site and other sites, get to know from people who drive the similar car on the road, I finally made up my mind to go with Etios G and now I own this Classic Grey beauty. Also the Dealer, Sales person, Service guys respect us and give utmost importance which I feel Toyota has taught them well. All these are completely my own views…….but have to wait and see the performance of the car and the services of it.

      Areas of improvement  

      Left side ORVM adjustment is difficult to operate sitting from the driver seat, more insulation to avoid hearing the noise, Dust settling at the door corners and beadings, need to have a better horn and to include rear speakers.

      Exterior- I love the way my silver Etos GD looks. Toyota has given excellent wheel covers with this model. 

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)- Absolutely comfortable for 5 full size adults. I have driven on long roads in this car with nobody complaining in the family. Wish this model had telescopic steering though. The boot in the car is awesome. 

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox- Absolutely smooth engine. You dont feel any lag while accelerating. Salute to toyota. I have driven for over 5000 kms in last 3 months and every single time its a pleasure to drive this car. No noise in the cabin except for a very low diesel noise which is standard in any diesel car. I have been getting an efficiency of 21kmpl on highways and around 15-16 in peak traffic of mumbai. With AC. Gears are very precise and smooth. 

       

      Ride Quality & Handling- Ride quality and handling is good, though the car rolls a bit while taking sharp turns. The suspension isnt too hard and is comfortable.

       

      Final Words- I bough this car after a lot of study and many test drives of competitors. and I can proudly say that I made a right decision. An absolutely no-nonsense, tension-free car.

       

      Areas of improvement - Design of dashboardcan certainly be improved. Also, the body gets scratches very easily. Better metal thickness can be the only solution I guess.

      I AM NOT AN EXPERT IN AUTOMOBILES BUT A GENUINE LOVER OF AUTOMOBILES. I VALUE  EFFICIENCY SAFETY AND HASSLE FREE OWNERSHIP OF A VEHICLE. WHEN I DECIDE TO BUY A CAR, I CHECKED OUT MANY ESTABLISHED MAKERS AND THEIR PRODUCTS.

      MARUTI DEZIRE WAS LESS SPECIOUS IN THE SAME PRICE BRACKET. BEING A SUB 4 METER CAR, HAVING RENTED ENGINE FROM FIAT , ITS JUST LIKE ERSTWHILE HERO-HONDA WITHOUT HONDA TECHNOLOGY. BUT YES IT HAS RESALE VALUE. BUT WHO CARES FOR RESALE? WE WANT TO BUY AND USE IT FIRSTLY. THE NOTION -MARUTI IS THE BEST SELLING CAR DOES NOT MEAN IT IS THE BEST. FEATURE WISE ALSO IT IS LESS APPEALING. EXCEPT SX4 AND SWIFT NO OTHER CAR OF MARUTI IS A GOOD LOOKING DESIGN. ITS JUST THAT MARUTI CAN SELL ANYTHING IN THE NAME OF VEHICLE HAVING FOUR WHEELS.

      CHEVY AND FORD BOTH ARE AMERICAN COMPANY, THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WEST AND EAST IS WEST BELIVES IN EXUBERANCE AND EAST IN EFFICIENCY. ONE BELIVES INTERNAL OPTIMISATION OTHER IN EXTERNAL LUXURY. CHEVY ALSO RENT FIAT ENGINE, LACK BOTH IN EFFICIENCY AND MAINTENANCE. FORD IS SAME WITH SOME COST FACTOR ISSUES.

      HYUNDAI IS ALL ABOUT FANCY LUXURY GADGETS, HYPE IN CLAIMED MILLAGE AND MAINTENANCE ISSUES AND COST FACTOR. (IN AMERICA IT WAS PENALISED FOR MILLAGE HYPE)

      TATA AND MAHINDRA HAVE THEIR SET OF CUSTOMERS (MORE COMPROMISE THAN PEACE OF MIND IN THE LONG RUN)

      HONDA THOUGH BETTER, MORE COSTLY AND GRADUAL SYMBOLISM OF HYPE AND MANIA IN INDIA.

      FIAT ,VW , SKODA AND NISSAN HAS SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES (MAINTENANCE, SPARE AND COST)

      I FOUND TOYOTA EFFICIENT, SAFE, HASSLE FREE MAINTENANCE, SPACIOUS, FEATURES YOU CAN USE AND REQUIRE, COMPTETIVE COST, AND DRIVING PLASURE.

      ONE MORE THING TO SHARE , IN TODAYS CITIES WITH EVER INCREASING TRAFFIC AND CHAOS WHERE IS THE DRIVING PLASURE (PERSONAL FEELING)?

      Exterior : IT IS A CAR NOT A UGLY SHAPED CABIN. CURVES DOES NOT MAKE MUCH SENSE.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) : REALLY SPACIOUS, REQUIRED FEATURES SANS LUXURY, EXACT COMFORT NOT SPOIL AND SPILL.  

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox : ONCE IT IS TOYOTA , YOU ARE REST ASSURED.

      Ride Quality & Handling: THOUGH THIS IS SUBJECTIVE AND PERSONAL PREFERENCE, IT IS VERY GOOD.

      Final Words: I AM PROUD TO HAVE MY ETIOS SEDAN WITH NO NONSENCE.

      Areas of improvement: TKM IS LOOKING AFTER THE CUSTOMER NEEDS AND SHOULD SHED THE EARLIER BAD IMPRESSION BY COMPARABLE ADVERTISING. BECAUSE FIRST IMPRESSION LASTS LONG.

      Exterior Graet shape of the boot and the front bumper of the car. but the car doors and the material used for the dicky are so light that they crackle while closing the door. Knock on the side of the car above the tire and you will find it hollow just like the quality used to design the interiors. There is no rubber lining on the doors which gives you the feel of closing a fiat door CLANG!!!! so they dont have the feeling you get when you close the door of any other Sedan.

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Cheap Cheap & Cheap. The doors are cheap.. the Seats are designed like an aircraft shitty design. The speedometer is in the centre amongst the other things that leaves the entire dash board loooking plane and empty glazing over acres of cheap plastic.. There must be some reason why other brands follow the thr standard design Simple it looks good.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox A lot of people have been saying though the interiors are bad but the engine makes the car worth while, i beg to differ because of the following reasons;

      1. the gear is not smooth

      2. while accelarating you will feel that you loose control and tachometer reading goes from 1000 to 3000 and comes back to normal after a couple of seconds, puts a lot of question about the quality and safety, may be taht is the reason for giving Airbags!

       

      Ride Quality & Handling  Very Average.

       

      Final Words I was one of the most enthuastic prospective customers of this car, infact i had gone ahead and booked it on 2nd december itself, but when i saw the car i was really disappointed dint expect such a inferior product from Toyota.

       

      Areas of improvement Everything expect the outside shell of the CAR.

      Final Words The entry of Toyota, the world’s biggest car-maker, into the Indian entry- level sedan market has sent car-makers scrambling to work out fresh plans for the hitherto neglected sedan segment.Market watchers feel that Etios’ lucrative price has already started troubling other auto makers as it is also likely to affect the market share of hatchbacks within the same price range, such as Hyundai i20, Maruti Swift, Ford Figo and Volkswagen’s Polo.
      Go for it. If you are a Toyota Fan and have an idea about styling and comfort... this is your Car.

       

      Areas of improvement Diesel Version Awaited. Toyota is known for its diesel engines. Once in the market it would be the strongest competition in its segment. However, the petrol variant is good and offers a good value for money package in its offering. It stands as a strong option compared to Ford Fiesta, Swift Dzire, Indigo Manza in its segment.

      Note: This review is written after driving the Vehicle around 7000 kms with 4 long trips, one of which includes a continuous driving of 11 hours.

      Exterior

      OK, OK ! But the Paint Quality is Very Bad. It Chips off even with a small touch of an external Object.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

      Super Boring. Dull Interiors with Bad Plastic. Space is good, But Seat Height is not adjustable, so it is no possible to see the blind spot sometimes, which is very much necessary in Indian Driving conditions. Worst Interiors in any of the Cars, I have seen.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

      Engine is Good and Responsive. Torque is Good, You can Drive the Vehicle at 30 KMPH at 5th Gear. Fuel Economy : 9-10 KM/L in City (New Delhi) with AC, Well tested a lot of times. Gear Shifting requires no power, but sometimes you have to fight with Gears at they don't get shift in one go.

      Ride Quality & Handling

      Ride Quality is OK in City, but on Long Drive it makes you tired as there is no height adjustment in the seats. Simultaneously seats are not too comfortable.

      Final Words

      If you are enthusiast, Don't go for Etios. You will never feel driving like a Sedan Car. It gives you the feeling of driving an old Vintage Car. If you need just space while overlooking other things, you can buy it, but I don't think a person who is buying a Car, only needs space.

      Areas of improvement  

      Every where, Some of these are:

      Improve the Vibration Level as Vehicle Shakes at low speed.

      Provide Weather Gaskets on All the Doors to avoid noise, dust and insect entering the cabin

      Provide good Sound Damping Material.

      Increase the weight of the vehicle.

      Te-think about interiors.

      Provide Auto locks at least in Top Model.

       

      This list goes on.

      Verdict: Toyota Kirloskar Motors is not a Customer Friendly Company as It is not listening to its Customer. Vehicle is getting the Criticism on National Level for its cons, but Toyota India is not ready to accept their faults. I have following them for last 6 months, but everytime they are dropping the ball to dealers and you know, Dealers are always the big guys, whom you cannot deal with. Toyota is taking all the advantages of Customer-Unfriendly Indian Market.

      My advise, If you don't want to wast your money, please avoid Etios untill they resolve all the issues.

      I bought the car V Model on 16th feb 2011 from Amritsar, since than i am driving it daily. I have driven 387 km. till now locally. Shape is very impressive  nobody said it's an ok car since I bought it every one says good yaar nice car at first sight. the shape would have looked better if thefront bonet could be another 4" to 6" longer it will sell like hot cakes,no other change is required in  the shape from my point of view. To me Interior is quite ok could be better in style with some grooves and cuts but not bad, single viper is very effective covers a large area.

      Drive is not very good as it makes lot of noise in 4th gear does feel like as if you are driving in 2nd or 3rd gear you tend to shift to top gear even at the speed of 40. Pickup is not good in rush hours gives lot of jerks and stops when we take off the feet from the clutch, needs lot of accelration for speeding up.

      Cheap sedan car, Good shape, ok interiors, ok Performance, Lot & lot Lot of  engine noise irritates while driving. Not very Solid.
