Duster is like the sand castles that one sees in beach. Pretty to look at but whole value proposition comes crumbling down once u touch it.
Well I bought it now I really regret my decision. Like many others who are getting in Duster Mania were driven by its good looks .... a SUV that is small for City driving as well. No doubt the charm of pretty bride was intoxicating and I took the decision and since then it is down hill drive.
1. Interiors are bad even in the top mode, The plastic quality is same as my 10 year old Santro and finishing is bad. Renault is from France expected some French art influence but in reality Renault does not seel Duster under its brand name in Europe.
2. I was able to overcome with the shock of bad interiors using the philosphical note ( car is medium to take you from point A to point B. Did some long drives , enjoyed the thrill of 6th gear .. and I started liking the car and then came the bigger blow
3. After sales services: People in Renault please listen this loud and clear , a person takes average 1 month to decide which car to buy but then lives with that Car for 5-6 years and in those year the brand value is carried by how after sales services is provided and you are just pathetic in it. Plain simple Pathetic. Here is my experiance. I am sure others have similar stories
- Navigator never worked for me. I guess its some software issue. The agree button in initial warning screen is never activated.
- During my first service I informed the service personall about it and he promised to get it fixed.
- When car was delivered in the evening, I checked and it was not fixed at all other other items ( like shapoo , wax) which I paid for was done. So I called the service center and asked they guy said that he did not understand the problem and was sorry and will get it fixed next day
- I went to service center next day. They asked me to wait for 30 mins and said they will apply a upgrade and thing will be fixed. After two hours when I saw commotion near my car I enquired and got to know that rather than fixing Navigator the whole system is down. Radio ,Music system nothing is working. So rahter than fixing the problem they screwed up what was working.
- Then they told that its best we replace it , gave me an order number and said that part would be available in 7-10 days and they will replace it.
- Its been a month so far and even after constant followup no action. All I hear is that part is coming from Chennai .. Part is coming from France .. they give me booking order but no solution
Moral of story : Stay away from Duster if you can. I know you will still buy it ... but you are warned.
Also if are in Gurgaon then you can easily see what this company is about. While Sales Office is in in prominent location MG Road .. but to reach Service center is near Hero Honday chowk .. No other way to reach other than driving against the traffic in a highway and the approach road is a quality test for shockers .... so gear up for it.
