Hi, I am Harsh Wardhan from Delhi NCR. I purchased my Dzire VXI (Beige) on Jan 19, 2009 after giving quite a thought ( too much, I should say) over different chices available in the market- Accent, Icon, Logan & Indigo CS. Not going to detail my last choice was over Dzire & Indigo CS owing to limited budget. But now I thik I made a best decision going for Dzire. I have driven around 2000 Kms. Mileage I have got is 12.5 ( 60% in city & 40% Highway).Credit of low mileage should also be given to Traffic here (lot of brakes / accelerater !!!!!!!).
The most i like with DZire is its grip on road inspite of being taller to the competition. very well balanced. AC is also good. Normally I need up to 2nd level of AC, max third. Interior of the car is not of high level but certainly better to other Maruti cars except SX4.
The only one problem I have with Dzire is - Taking reverse due to small windscreen. otherwise no problem at all. 1st sevice of the car is done. The mileage i have given is just after 1st service. I have also applied anti-dust & teflon coating for the car during the 1st service as I have to park my car outside. Thats why i have also using gear lock in the car (got locally in this case).

I got a test drive for 10 km from kiran motors yesterday. As i wanted to have swift VDI few days but waited for dzire.
I am driving 60 km a day and wanted to for VDI or ZDI
my requirements are : city drive, all time AC 365 days a year, smooth drive, small-mid size car, good pick up. AC has to be on traffic light stop. luggage space in case of long drive for family of four [ two adult + two kids ] good milage , less break down of car, good after sales service
And as you can see , dezire meets all of the requirements.

Purchase Decision:
Planned to take a Company Leased Vehicle, so basically the purchase was to save on the Income Tax :), me and my wife started the search for different options, the cars on my mind were (Swift, Palio, i10), at that time Dzire was not launched, and i saw pictures of it and felt that it is an awkward looking car. I was looking for a Petrol variant as my running is <500Kms per month.
I was more inclined towards the Palio 1.6 due to its looks, features and a 100 BHP Fiat Engine in that price range, but my wife the didnt like the interiors so it was out :)). i10 i didnt like the car as i felt it an upgraded version of santro. Then we considered the Swift and we both agreed upon it.
Within the mean time on 26th March 2008, Dzire got launched and on 28th March, my wife insisted to see the vehicle in reality, i was already apprehensive for it as far as the looks were considered, went to nearby showroom, had a first glance of the vehicle and i was bowled over by the sheer looks of the car, the rear was looking very good, and the front it is regular swift the only change is the new grill with chrome inserts. There was no petrol variant for the test drive, i had already driven swift in the past, so thought that it is the same engine and the performance is almost same. Instantly thought of booking it, but due to some personal reasons there was a delay in the booking.
Booking the Vehicle:
Booked the Vehicle (VXI Variant,Souvereign Blue) through Vitesse on 29th April, the Leasing Company, which provides the company leased vehicles for our company, they told the waiting period of 3 months, the manager of Leasing Company told me that they will raise a PQ (Priority Quota) request to maruti, as they get a special quota from maruti, and will be able to deliver the car in a month, i was still skeptical of the promise they made for 1 month
After a week, i received a call from the manager of the Leasing company, that the dealer has infomed them that the my car has been despatched from the Maruti factory and will reach in a two weeks time, i was surprised, then i thanked that guy and now the wait starts :))).
Dealer gave us a call on 24th May, that the car has arrived, and i can take the delivery as and when i wanted, at that time i was out of the city for my company’s work, so i told him that i will be taking the delivery on the 4th June, as i will be back in mumbai on 3rd June.
Delivery of the Vehicle:
Reached the dealership around 11:00 am 4th June, completed the formalities, checked the vehicle, and the whole process of the delivery went very well, the staff was very cooperative and professional. Received a 5 Litre coupon for the petrol and some goodies and chocolates for my 2 year old kid.
First impressions of the Vehicle after driving it for 152 Kms::
1. Engine & Pickup: Was very good, and the response from the Engine was superb, no noise and it was quite smooth, the performance i felt was almost the same as the Swift petrol. And there was a minimal or negligible drop in performance after the AC is switched on.
2. Brakes: Very precise and accurate, i heard there was some issue with the brakes in Dzire, i didnt experienced it, may be as and when i clock more Kms, i may come to know, but at present the brakes are fantastic.
3. Gear Shift: Was very smooth and the gears slotted in very well, the only problem i encountered was that the 5th & the Reverse gears were a bit hard, will it get solved after running more Kms, or do i need to bring it into the dealers notice, please advise??
4. Stability & Ride Quality: At the speed of 80 Kmph(is the max is stretched it, as it is in running in period) the vehicle was very much planted and felt very stable, and on the patchy roads of Mumbai, the suspension handled the potholes with aplomb, so satisfied on that front.
5. AC: Cooled the Cabin very quickly, the Fan Speed was on 2, and after sometime, i lowered the fan speed to 1.
6. Rear seat Comfort: The angle of inclination for the back seat is different on the Dzire as compared to swift, so it gives a bit more thigh support and the rear seat felt quite comfortable, though the legroom is same as the swift, wished they would have increased the wheelbase to create more legroom at the rear.

1. Exterior: The best part of the Vehicle is the Rear styling, it is awesome and looks very good, i love the peeled off look of the tails lamps and raised part of the boot, earlier when i saw the pictures, i thought it is ugly :)) (personal opinion). The chrome grill in the front looks great and gives the vehicle a feeling of a high segment vehicle. All in all the Exterior styling is great and looks pleasing to my eyes, wished they would have changed the front part also just to give it a distintinctive look from the swift. Fog Lamps are a Nice touch, Kelyess entry is a very good feature.
2. Interior: It is the same as swift, the difference is that it has a Integrated Stereo system with 2 Speakers in front and 2 in the rear tray which houses the high mounted stop lamp. The instrument Cluster is white lit & Chrome surroundings look pleasing to the eyes. Bottle holder pocket in the rear doors, cup holders etc. are the useful touches which they have provided. The Steering Wheel is Small and Sporty and gives a good feeback and is precise as far the steering feedback is concerned. The Dashboard looks nice
This car can ran at speed of 180 kmph with ease and have excellent looks. But Fuel economy is below expectation, My car's fuel economy as recorded is as 1. From 27 Km to 368 KM was 6.5 Km per litre, 2. From 368 Km to 789 km was 11.1 kmpl, 3. from 789 km to 1407 km was 12 kmpl, 4. from1407 km to 1869 km was 10.96 kmpl and 5. from 1869 to 2220 km was 12.6 kmpl.
Since, air blower is not fitted with dust filter, on dusty road, Sand and dust directly enter through air blower.
Also in first servicing, I find difficulty in getting Push rivet to fixed lost/Damaged mud guard and wheel cover/chamber. I had to go to private vendor to get those rivet.
Holder of clock and thermometre on top of desk board is loose and giving out some sound.
I doubt the lock of luggage box may not be I key but it give a warning when open without pushing on button of remote key.
Every this is okay.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): REAR SPACE CRAMPED. BIGGEST PAIN IS THE BODY NOISE / DOOR RATTLING / CREAKING NOISE OF A BULKY PLASTIC DASHBOARD AND ALTERNATOR WHINING.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: ENGINE PERFORMANCE IS VERY GOOD BUT INJECTORS VULNERABLE TO SLIGHTEST OF ADULTERATED FUEL. TEND TO GET NOISY AND ROUGH. GEAR SHIFT IS AVERAGE. VEHICLE TENDS TO OVER STEER AT HIGH SPEED.
ENGINES GETS NOISY ON SYNTHETIC OIL - ( PRONOUNCED HLA SOUND). SO USE MINERAL LUBE.
FUEL EFFICIENCY IS GREAT. RESPONDS NICELY ON REPLACING STOCK FILTER WITH K&N. AS THE ENGINE IS DETUNED, PERFORMANCE CAN BE UPGRADED BY RE MAPPING AND INSTALLING DEVICES.
Ride Quality & Handling: ACCELERATIONIS GOOD. TC SPOOLS IN TREMENDOUS POWER. DOESNT PERFROM WELL ON ROUGH ROAD AT ALL. LOOSES GRIP ON HIGH SPEED - 140 + .. OVER STEER IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. PECULIAR COMMON RAIL SOUND CONTINUES ON CONSTANT RPM. ( PINGING OR KNOCKING AS MECHANICS CALL)
Final Words VALUE FOR MONEY. GOOD AS A ENTRY LEVEL SEDAN ONLY WITH VERY BASIC FEATURES.
Areas of improvement : BODY NOISE - DOOR RATTLING / CREAKING NOISE OF DASHBOARD - TOO MUCH OF PLASTIC / WHEEL WELL SHALLOW FOR ACCOMODATING RADIALS - 195 MM TYRES. ALTERNATOR WHEENING. /
Peppy & refined engine. TC kicks up good power. Injectors sensitive to adulterated fuel.BODY NOISE / RATTLING TAKES AWAY THE PLEASURE OF DRIVING

I test drove the VDi today. A bit noisy at the start; but you put it in gears it is not noisy;good pick up and smooth otherwise. It should be giving a good mileage like the old swift-VDi.
Maruti should have given more attention to the interiors-really awful-bad by by any standard; the interiors are nowhere near the Hyundai-i10. They should have included the low fuel gauge indicator in the instrument cluster. The integrated sterio is not attractive.
The aircon vents are awkwardly placed and the glove compartment is not easily accessible.
The integrated stereo looks quite ordinary-not a class and the output seems to be below par.
Good boot. Overall design is good. Unlike Ikon the visibility when you take reverse is good.
Except for the interiors and the noisy start of the engine it is a good vehicle worth the money.

Earlier I had a ford fiesta, Very impressed with its features designs looks economy and status symbol decided to turn to swift dzire, really very upset wid its performance, my car goes for 35000-40000 kms per year, ford fiesta was 1.45 lkh kms run when I sold it bt dis swift dezire is no more of use aftr 40000 kms only.
The only thing that satisfy me of buying this car is the price for which one can buy this car. Sedan models of these very good companies usually start with 9-10 lakhs. Maruti service station even thogh available at each and every place could not provide service to car out of station because of hugh rush and poor staffing requirments.
Car interior is also totally upsetimg. It never looks like a rich and standard car. Interior used is just similar to the one done in maruti estillo or like wise car. Even the material used in interior is also of very low quality.
Totally depressed with the car :(

Exterior: Front can be made a little better to differentaite it with Swift. Taillamps and Boot looks cute and gives a feeling of SX4. Side looking is also gud specially with alloys in ZDi.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): Interiors are elegant. Door mirrors could be made electronically adjustable, proper lighting should be ther on all power windows switches. seats are very comfortable
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: Pick up is not very good but once car crosses 2000 rpm you feel that you are driving a powerful petrol car. Good handling on highways. Mileage is always good. My monthly running is around 2000 Kms and it gives me a decent mileage of around 20-21 KM with 100% AC on. Gears are smooth. Sometimes reverse gear doesn't fit in the slot.
Ride Quality & Handling: Handling is gud in city as well as highway.
Final Words: Great value for money. Go for its top model and you will have all the comforts and safety feature of car in india upto 10 lakhs
Areas of improvement: Music system should be better. Atleast it should have a USB slot. Interior Lightining system could be much improved

Its been a month with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire Zdi.
Few observations:
1) Got 18kmpl before the first servicing[city] with 50% AC.
2) Getting around 19kmpl after the first service[city].
3) Quite satisfied with the car.
4) Starting up a slope you feel the clutch shudder [as pointed out by other members.] It feels as if something is preventing the car to move ahead freely. Although it happens for a brief moment.
5) Once in a while, when you engage the first gear with fully depressed clutch, you feel as if the gear has been changed with half clutch and can feel a slight jerk.
6) Automatic climate control is good as you can set the temperature to a comfortable level. One complaint here is that even if you keep the air-vent at 'inside-air-circulation' mode with the blower blowing at a minimal level, it manages to bring in some smell from outside [for example, if you pass by any beautifully laid intra-city sewage canals that you come accross so frequently in Bangalore, you would come to know how it smells like].
7) Personal opinion is that the headrests are unusually long. Could have done with something smaller. This I am saying cause if am sitting on the rear seat, I would personally like to have a good view of the road ahead which is not possible with such large headrests.
8) The lever to tilt the front left seat came off on the very third day.
9) Waiting period is a serious let down.
10) Last but not the least, got this vehicle for the shear VFM in the diesel category with some of the top end features like ABS and airbags and the fantastic diesel engine.

6th Nov, 2009. -------------- Another small update: The adjustable steering is a good comfy feature but when you tilt the steering to the lowest position which I found very comfortable to drive in, I cannot see most of the things on the console. Personally I always change the gears based on the speedometer. So I would have loved to see an additional digital speedometer like the Honda Civic on top of the dash. Also the turn indicator audio is hardly audible and sometimes I miss it and forget to turn it back[in situations where it doesn't automatically do it]. I would also reccomend a height adjustable seat for the co-passenger as my wife keeps complaining that she feels as if I am sitting on a mountain.
