S 1.2 is not the top version. Still its jam packed with various features like 2 din Music system, Rear AC Vent (not a fan blower), Steering mount controls, Bluetooth Connectivity. All in all, a very good value for money. Similar features in Amaze/Dzire would require extra investment of 1 lac INR.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Completed 3000 KM today. Engine performace has been quite good till now. Fuel economy somehow has been on better side. I receive 16 KM/L in city and 18.5 KM/L on highways. Perhaps because I drive at constant 40-55 KM/hr in city even if I have to take slighly longer routes and never exceed 90 KM/Hr on highways. Gear Box can be a bit smoother but perhaps slight roughness may go away after first service due this week.
Acceleration is less than expected. Perhaps it has to do with 3 cylinder engine. It works for me as I am no race freak. Still, 4 cylinder engine would have been better
Ride Quality & Handling
Excellent handling. Smooth braking.
Final Words
A real value for money with respect to Dzire and Amaze in similar price range. I should have go for one version higher as for extra investment of 20 K, I could have ABS and Alloy wheels. No regrets

Cooling coil of the Car (AC) got burnt 3rd time in 3 years which cost you 9K for replacement. So every year you have to be ready to spend this amount for AC maintenance. Hyndai should look into the issue & resolve it at the earliest possible.
For the existing cars having this issue their should be some scheme from Hyundai so as to serve their existing customers.
Otherwise an OK car to be used in terms of overall pick up. Fuel efficiency is also a concern but ok for a petrol car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Best inthi segment noissless cabin even quieter than swift Dzire definately better than amaze. Very good all the features except touchscreen and gps navigation.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Petrol absolutely noisless pick up I will go for diesel dont go on bhp 71 but torq 180 is very adequet for this size of car only 3 cylender but engine is very refine dont bother about lack of one cylender. petrol is for lazy drivers no hurry smooth engine go for petrol but you cant overtake confidently.
Ride Quality & Handling I liked both varient good ride smooth stearin good brakes, suspension not great but adequet not much discomfort.For good ground clearence go for 15inch diamond cut alloy wheel which is almost two finger more than 14inch.
Final Words Best car in segment just slighty less width but oerall good package, I booked crdisx(o).
Areas of improvement Not much could have better styiling exterior for wich hyundai known for.

Exterior The front and side looks great but the back side looks a bit compressed. Overall it has more than a decent profile.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) This is where the USP comes in I guess with loads of gizmos, rear ac vents, good legspace and spacious interiors with more than a decent boot space. 10 on 10 here.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is more than decent again but there is a tad bit delay in kicking up a punch in AT version.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is perfect for a city ride but on a highway accelerator needs to be pushed a little bit for a good decent pickup. Handling is smooth and can absorb normal patches on road easily, Ride is a comfort in the city with AT.
Final Words If you love gizmos and spend most of your time in the city and not a speed freak, then this car is for you :)
Areas of improvement Pickup is a bit slow and need to push on a AT version but once the turbo kicks in its smooth.

Final Words: It is indeed a complete family sedan. Enjoyed every aspect of this car. Compared to other cars in this segment, this one surely wins the race. If you want an allrounder, get this car, Interiors are so compelling that you cannot resist buying one for you. Frankly, no car (sedan) would come at such a low cost with Rear AC vents, Rear Parking Sensor, Rear Power Windows and with a company fitted music system with Steering Mounted Controls, Bluetooth Connectivity etc. A must buy in terms of interiors. The cabin is so silent that you cannot even hear the sound of your own horn inside (on an extremely busy road)..With all gizoms it VFM.

Exterior are kind of Ok till B-pillar as they are very familiar to the Grandi10 but the difference starts from the B-pillar and after that the car looks splendid. Automatic Body colored ORVMs with integrated turn-indicators, stylish door handles, Hyundai is not using the brand name on the car now and just the logo which makes a style statement. Car would have the variant name imbibed on the boot only if you buy SX model.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Excellent features like electric steering, all steering mounted controls, bluetooth connectivity, Rear AC Vents with charging point, AC cooled glovebox, Day-night rear view mirror, Height adjustable driver seat impressive cabin space usage by Hyundai with ample amount of map pockets on doors to store 1 litre bottle, dusters, towels etc. Utility space around the gear console with nice covered box below the 2-din music system to keep your precious stuff. 2 center lights in the cabin also are very helpful in low-light areas. the foot hump between the rear passenger seat is also low-heighted making it comfortable for the rear middle passenger. Even the rear parking sensors are really helpful during parking in those tight spots.
Boot space is also quite spacious and good enough to store your weekend getaway luggage.
Rear armrest with 2 glass holders is also an added advantage however Hyundai could have added some better quality fiber plastic on the seat behind the arm rest.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Impressive performance, have driven for close to 1700kms and no turbo lag, great pick-up from 3rd gear onward, you would actually not realize and the speedometer would reach 100km/hr. Very good for city driving and you can maneouvre easily with the help of small turning radius. You can really zoom through the traffic throught the pick-up. Have not yet tried on the highway but I am confident that it would be a cherished drive. FE is good on the city roads, better than expected, have not really measured but should give around 18-19km/l. Gearbox is very well placed and gear-shifting is a very smooth and easy process even in Delhi's crowded roads. moreover, almost nil cabin noise of diesel engine. This is something which really struck me as I TD the Amaze, Etios and they had very high engine noise reaching the cabin.
Have already done the first free service and did not pay anything on the service except the money I paid for Teflcon paint protection and under body paint which was a optional service.
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride quality is good but not excellent. You can feel the suspension on bumpy roads or whenver you come through roadside pothole or stones, Maybe Hyundai can work on the brakes as they are very sharp and you have to apply them carefully.
Final Words
Overall a nice package and good family car with all the required features to give you a premium feel. I considered and tested almost 6-7 cars( Amaze, Dzire, Zest, Etios, i20 elite, honda city) however finally zeroed in on Xcent due to its overall performance, features, Value for money
Areas of improvement
Exteriors should be different from Grand i10, you would not really be able to make out if you see from the front till B-pillar whether it is Xcent or Grand i10, Airbags should be provided in base and S variants. Brakes are very sharp and you need to acquaint yourselves really well before hitting long drives. may be rear wiper, DRLs can also be looked at by charging a nominal amount in the overall cost. Hyundai should also looking at revamping the customer service at its dealerships as I did not really have a very good buying experience with Orion Hyundai(Gurgaon).Another area that Hyundai can look to add is the mileage feature in the odometer. It currently shows only the trip and average spped per hour displays

My name is Celine Y. I purchased a car (HYUNDAI XCENT CRDI SX) during 2014. My vehicle number is TN 11 X XXXX. On July 27th evening my husband was driving the car and the vehicle got fired while running (while driving) near Maraimalai Nagar-Chennai Ford Company. Our car is totally 52000 km runned car and we have done 5 services at the purchased place itself (VINAYAK HYUNDAI - Nagalkani, Chrompet, Chennai 600044).By God's Grace we saved and the local public were helped us to come out from the fired car. When we approached the VINAYAK HYUNDAI, they said "your warranty is finished (2 years). The qualy matters. So after 52000 km there is no safty it semms for all users. Its very bad experience with this HYUNDAI XCENT CRDI SX car. It would be better the authorities to answer about the safety of this car.
Other thing is We surrendered our fired cat at VINAYAK HYUNDAI on 27th itself. But they did not give us back till date. Very delaying. The service is also very bad. We are very upset with this bad incidence.

Went for a test drive yesterday. The car is a good package specially if you talk about features. This car has each and every feature even in its first varient. too good.
The backside could be more stylish but I think they have kept the length in a mid sedan range.
The audio quality is nice while using bluetooth streaming. I also checked the call quality over bluetooth, not disappointed. The microphone is fitted on the roof just obove the driver, the nearest they can.
The most imp thing I felt it has a very limited color options. there is no color towards grey side.
All in all, its a really good package if you compare the prices of other cars in its segment. The desire (no feature at all) and amaze (feature are in top varient)
PS, the waiting time in Mumbai is 3 months and keep increasing. so if you planning to buy, decide fast.

Exterior Neatly integrated boot, hyundai body panels and paint job are at par as compared to others in this segment (Much much better that swift or dzire, 3 yrs user of dzire Zdi )
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Best in class features, no other cars in this segment has this many features. VFM. Space is just adequate, reat seat comfort is very good as compared to i20( i20 feels like sitting in a school bench). inclined position in xcent.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine power is linear as u wont found the punch when turbo kicks as in 1.3 MJD. ideal for city drivinig as no turbo lag which is much hesitaitng to drive my dzire in city.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good, steering response is very good and not too heavy or too light as compared to i20, i20 feels disconnected even in high sppeds, which is and issue in safety point of view. suspensions are well tuned for indian roads, but i liked the suspensions in petrol variant, is there any diff. in petrol and diesel variant.
Final Words I loved the vehicle so much that i sold my dzire top end diesel variant and booked the diesel S(o) variant, going to be delivered on 30th May.
Areas of improvement ABS could be a standard from second variant onwards, atleast driver side airbags to be provided in S and S(0) variants.

This car is good on many aspects, but I found 2 defects in it -
(a) The brakes are pretty sharp, especially during the first 10-15 mins of the drive. Even a light press to slow down the vehicle brings it to a grinding halt. Sometimes I worry if some vehicle would hit it from the back due to such grinding halt;
(b) Plastic smell of interiors. Its been almost 2 months since I purchased this vehicle, but the plastic smell still prevails and some times its quite irritating when A/c is put on by closing all the windows;
When I complained about the brakes issue during the first service, the service representative acknowledged that it is a known issue in Xcent & Grand i10, but mentioned that it should gradually improve. When it didn’t improve, I raised a complaint on their website. The service center representative and his manager visited my place and took a test ride. They too acknowledged that in my specific case the brakes are too sharp, but tried to explain me that it is intended and Hyundai wanted it that way. According to me this is a design flaw, which Hyundai is refusing the acknowledge and trying to brush it under the carpet.
A car is expected to slow down during the run when brakes are slightly applied and is expected to stop when they are hard pressed. If that is not happening, then it doesn’t matter what technology they used and in what way they intended to have it. Looks like this is serious lapse on their side regarding the basic safety feature. What-ever fantastic features they may build, but when the basic need of brakes is flawed then every thing else just evaporates into thin air.
