1. Buying Experience: It was fairly straight forward, typical Hyundai service, I was greeted well and all the paper work was done very quickly. Car was clean inside and out and odo meter was at 40km (This includes testing and driving from stockyard to showroom) 2. Riding experience: This is the 4th car to my garage (POLO, Compass and Superb) and was the car that was missing my garage. Polo is fairly too small for 4 people (Lack of leg space. Verna does not offer class leading but adequate), Compass is big and has a very big turning radius (Difficult to drive around in narrow streets, so is used for my highway trips), Superb is way too long and expensive for daily use (Generally use it on Sunday outings) I had driven a friend's Verna for a couple of kilometers and what really shocked me was how well refined the engine was. Coming from 1.5 litre diesel from VW, which is everything but refined and 2 litre Fait's Multijet in Compass, Verna being a diesel honestly felt way too unbelievable. I feel that was one of the essential factors why I chose it over Honda's terrible diesel engine and Maruti's puny 1.3 engine. I did not even consider Rapid because I am already tired of my after sales experience with Superb and did not consider Vento as it has almost identical interiors as the Polo. Vera felt plush and felt worth the price. 3. Details about looks, performance etc: I was drooling over the taillights since the day of it's launch. Hyundai pull of such an amazing layout at such a good price. Bravo!. Overall shape of the car looks very sleek and coupe-ish. Not a very big fan of the front end tho. I feel the headlams could have been better and are a tad bit oversized. Engine, like I mentioned above, is very refined and exciting to drive.You get a really strong pull post 1.8k RPM mark after which the Turbo spools and kicks in. 126bhp is class leading and you can honestly feel the power. It is probably the best car to drive in the segment (Maybe behind Vento/Rapid). The build quality is one of my major concern. I, in past have had a few Hyundai cars and all served a good decent 5-7 years in the family with very little to no issues and I was glad to see Verna perform so well too. 4. Servicing and maintenance: Hyundai has a very spaced out service network and is more reasonable than SKODA and Volkswagen. I don't have a personal experience with Honda but a few friends who own complain about over crowded service center, plus they take a lot of time for basic service. (I am located in Kolkata, service in your city might be different) Hyundai offers first 3 services free and post that, each service will cost round about 5-12K every year. 5. Pros: a) Ventilated seats b) Exciting engine c) Build quality d) Looks better than the competition e) Lag free infotainment system with apple car play and android auto Cons a) Not so great rear leg space b) Rear headroom, 6 feet tall people might touch the roof c) Sunroof is very small d) no rear disc brakes e) Missing essential features like auto folding ORVM, auto dimming interior mirror and reach adjustable steering wheel
