Exterior
Verna fluidic has a lot going for it in looks. Yet to meet some one who does not like it in looks. (Some may prefer subtle vento-ish design but they still are happy about verna fluidic's looks). I love fog lamps, curves on bonnet and little bump on the boot. Big alloy wheels also add to the pleasing to eye looks.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
A very long list of features. Blutooth, audio system, rear parking sensors and camera with excellent low light viewing, folding side mirrors, abs+ebd, steering wheel controls, aux and usb compatibility, etc.
Space is adequate for most drives for 4 people, unless all 4 passengers are 6ft + in height on a long drive. Forget 5 people of normal size even for 1 hour drive. Curved rear seat and stiff back side of center arm rest for 5th person makes it a total no no.
Front seats are very generous for comfort. Back seat comfort IS THE ONLY NEGATIVE OF THE CAR DUE TO VERY SPRINGY REAR SUSPENSION. and it's a huge negative. Low profile tyres make sure to pass all vibrations due to bad roads transfer to rear passengers. I wish hyundai changes the suspension set-up. Learn from ford.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
1.6litre crdi 127bhp, class leading and best performing. And add to the fact that it still has better economy than vento or rapid who come 2nd on power in the class.
With 100% ac on, i
n mumbai city traffic, 13-14 and on highways having speed of 140-160+ on an average (bombay-goa via pune kolhapur road) I still got 18.5 kpl. If I had driven around 100-120, surely would have got upwards of 22kpl.
Gear box is one of the usp. 6speed manual makes mileage figures go up and basically any speed post 75kph, put in 6th gear and drive like you want. Rev hard and keep on overtaking cars of mind your own and cruise at 80kph. Works like a charm. Full marks here.
Ride Quality & Handling
Handling is pretty acceptable. Not like ford but absolutely workable. I have seen people complaining about feather touch steering wheel and danger of high speeds, I didn't feel any need to panic. Just takes some time to get used to. But this is actually better for non tiring journeys. feedback of steering wheel could be better.
Ride Quality is biggest disappointment of this car owing to soft and spongy suspension set-up. After 20-30 mins of highway driving it really gets on to you. Irritating. The positives of this car are many, but this particular negative takes away all.
Final Words
For city driving this car is still best (compared to vento, rapid, new honda city, etc.) Just don't take 5th passenger. For highways, better to sit in last row of innova than rear seat of fluidic verna. 1 important point to mention, if yout boot is loaded with weight, somehow rear suspension acts less irritating!!
