After considering a lot of options, I finally settled on i20, as it provided all the required features, space, comfort and smoothness I needed after running a diesel engine for 10 years.
It delivers on most of the areas. The looks are polarizing and I did prefer earlier models of the car. But, it is not a deal breaker. The interiors of the car, more than make up for exterior quirks.
Now, what I liked in the car:
1. The smooth and quite engine.
2. Light clutch, accelerator, smooth gearshift and a wonderful steering
3. Electronics are top notch from the ORVMs, AC, Infotainment, MID, highline tire pressure monitor, steering controls etc.
4. Interior and boot space is sufficient for a small family like mine.
5. Cruise control works really well and this is why I went for this model.
What could have been better:
1. The welcome function is quite whimsical and doesn't always work
2. Driver seat although adjustable, still is quite awkward and you either feel perched too high or stuck in a pit. Comfort is Ok though.
3. Android Auto is not full screen and hangs. might be more to do with Android rather than Hyundai.
What I don't like at all:
1. It feels underpowered specially when fully loaded and you go over speed bumps and inclines. Diesel option was prohibitively expensive
2. Very low mileage - I mostly drive on Highways or completely empty roads with extremely light foot. I got 13.5 km/l mileage so far in 300 km driven. I wonder what will happen if I drive in a more spirited fashion.
