I think i20 is the most stupid car I have ever owned. Don’t give me that look..I will give you enough reasons.. It has the worst gear ratio ever.. coupled with the massive turbo lag..its a dead car below the turbo range.. you are forced to drive in lower gears all the time.. cant use the 5th gear below 60kmph..the engine knocks on that.. the gears are so designed that you can use the overdrive comfortably only above 80kmph speed. Here comes the twist..unless you are on a rubberized highway the suspension will never allow your sane mind to go beyond 70kmph on any account. Its such a foolish suspension..It throws you up in the air on minor undulations of the road if you are above 60kmph. Its soooo disgusting that you and your family cant have a comfy ride unless you are on a highway… I have contacted the cust care many a times and they say its like that only…and its due to the soft suspension… Its unbearable..believe me.. And next again…you go on an uneven road slowly…the car shakes you all the way…mainly side to side… The service guy explained this saying that there is some stability bar for the car which is responsible for this…that setup is expected to improve stability…I have never seen any piece of stability in this car but for the shakes alone.. These are the moost disgusting things which used to bother me from day 1 of my i20 magna.. I had some brake issues in the beginning and was rectified only at 10k kms by the ASC.. I found these problems troubling me like hell…My health was badly affected by the suspension..I had neck pain issues and had to use cervical collar for about 1 week. All these made me sell out my i20 at 40k kms… Enough with Hyundai… they have the same suspension issue even with verna. All these are vehicles with too powerful engines and absolutely noooo handling abilities… nooo road holding… nothing… just an engine befitting a rocket… Mileage is another thing..I used to get only 15kmpl till 30k kms..after that there was an increase to 17kmpl maximum on strictly monitored driving..
Barring the above facts…
Looks…4/5
Engine power…5/5
Space…4/5
Boot…4/5
Fit and finish…4/5
Interiors…4/5
Service cost…3/5 ( believe me the routine service cost is not much above the swift diesel)
Again..let me repeat..
Suspension….1/5 or rather 0/5
Gear ratio….-1/5 (it’s a minus 1 / 5)
But none of the positives could keep me driving the stupid car through our bumpy..twisty roads… I had to drive about 150kms daily.. so… I sold off.. let peace be me mine…
If anyone is planning to buy it…give it a very thorough second thought and take a test drive through a bumpy road… try to speed on an irregular road.. keep an eye on the stupid gear ratio… try to drive normally in the overdrive… you will understand the stupidity of the car… mail me anytime…dr.********@gmail.com I wont be answering the comments here…I have better things to do… so mail me if you are concerned… If you are asking me whether to buy it or not…well my answer would be a big NO if you have enough distances to cover…If its just for the sake of a premium car with all the silly gadgetries…its ok…buy it and keep it in the porch..dont expect a nice ride in it anyway unless you stick on to highways allll the time…
