Aesthetics Though looks are very subjective but majority of users find elitei20 to be quite stylish and aggressive unlike the timid looks of baleno. Interiors are quite plush with dual tone(beige and black). Performance The petrol variant sports a 1.2 L VTVT engine which to be honest feels underpowered due to the heavy weight of the vehicle( close to 1.1 tons).
Requires constant gear shifting between first and second gear in heavy traffic conditions. Handling and Steering Steering is buttery smooth. Feels quite upmarket. You would find reasons to take turns. The high gross weight of car adds to its stability at high speeds and turns. Fuel Economy This is one area where Hyundai seriously needs to improve upon. This is the major reason why hyundai still hasn't been able to displace maruti from the top. On highways and in ideal driving conditions like minimal traffic, smooth acceleration, gradual braking etc it would return a mileage of 17 kmpl (with air conditioning).
In city driving with heavy traffic, don't expect a mileage of more than 15 kmpl. Safety Elite i20 feels more safe and secure to drive than its counterparts. In front and side collisions the car is more likely to keep the passengers safe due to its sturdier doors, side panels and hood. Verdict The difference in performance of baleno and elite i20 isn't much and can be overlooked. Keeping mileage aside, elite i20 scores over Baleno in all aspects. So if the low mileage doesn't concern you much then look no further and go for Hyundai.
