      I am writing to inform you of my experience with Hyundai Accent CRDi bought in 2005. It was good until I took it for my first paid service. It was like they were waiting for me. 8k was my first bill. Subsequent 10k another 7.5k bill. It is 3 years old now and the front axle broke. Imagine that? Even FIAT which are decades old don't have this problem. Replacement cost 40k. I have a Toyota qualis bought in 2001 and it has done 100k km. Total maintenance costs that I may have paid so far in 7 years is around Rs 35k. Those of you planning to buy a Hyundai car (irrespective of the model), be careful. It will last 3 years without any problem and after that it will create a BIG hole in your pocket. I was warned, but did not listen. Now I regret. Hope you don't make the same mistake again. I am putting up the car for sale.

      Hi,

          My family has an Accent GVS Model 2003. In this review I have written about how I have felt about it after four years.

      The gearshift is extremely smooth, the A/C cools very fast and the plastics feel durable and long lasting. If ill-treated however, the seat fibres may come out.

      In the city, the engine feels good and the car just about pulls from standstill in third gear. On the highway, the driving manners are excellent. It is reasonably fuel efficient.

      The engine feels unrefined when revved very hard and this is slightly disconcerting.

      Overall, this is a good Package.

      Hi, my DAD uses a Accent CRDI(Viva). Ever since he brought it (NEW) in 2006, I fell in love with the car. It is a fantastic car. I get a Mileage of 18-20 KM/L on highway(@100-120KMH) and 16-17 KM/L in City. I saw many ppl Commenting on the Bad engine of the car. 1 thing must be remembered here. It all depends on how you Maintain your car. U treat the car well & it would treat U well. Get it serviced regularly & change the timing belt & the Pully periodically. This should keep u away 4m trouble.

      My passion to Accent CRDI lead me to buy one for myself. So in Dec2009 I brought an Oct2006 CRDi from a trusted person, for 3.65Lks. The car is well maintained. This car had done 55K Kms. The day I brought the car I sent it for service and got the timing belt and Pulley replaced. It costed me 7K for the service.  (Here I have to mention that the Hyundai service centre Mechanic asked me not to replace the timing belt as the car had done only 55K and was serviced regularly at the showroom; however I did not want to take a chance and asked him to replace it. When he removed the timing belt he found that 3 of the threads were cut and it would have given a problem if the vehicle was run for another 1k); so always trust your senses and not the Mechanics.

      It had been 8 months since I brought the car and I had already done 10K Kms. Not a single complaint from the car. It is as good as brand new. My home town is Vizag in AP and I work in B’lore. I always prefer to drive to my home town in this car (abt 1000Kms). I had done 4 trips already on this car and never got bored of doing this.

      To get the optimum fuel efficiency (with A/C) from this car maintain the below speed limit
      80 – 95KMH       - 21.5KML
      100 – 120KMH    - 18-19KML
      120 – 140KMH    - 16-17KML

      It is always fun to drive this car on highways. Overtaking is smooth and easy. I must truly say that I’m a happy owner for two Hyundai Accent CRDi cars.

      THIS IS A GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY CAR - SPECIALLY WITH THE DISCOUNTS BEING OFFERED. THE CLOUR VARIANTS OFFERED NOW ARE ALSO NICE SUCH AS REAL EARTH. ITS SPACIOUS, COMPARES WELL WITH ITS PEERS, BUT THE ONLY FEAR IS THAT HYUNDAI MAY WITHDRAW THE CAR ANY TIME. FUEL ECONOMY IS TO BE EXMAINED, IN INITIAL STAGES IT DOES SEEM LOW, BUT OVERALL THE CAR IS WELL MADE, HAS A GOOD RIDE QUALITY AND GIVES A FEELING OF SPACE AND COMFORT. HYUNDAI COULD HAVE OFFERED ANTI THEFT OR ATLEAST A TEFLON COAT AS AN ADD ON FROM THE DEALER OR A MP 3 PLAYER AS OFFERED BY ANOTHER CAR COMPANY. MY FAMILY IS CERTAINLY HAPPY TO OWN THIS CAR AND SO AM I AT THE COST OF ACQUISITION.      SPACE, STYLE, FEATURES SUCH AS CENTRAL LOCKING ETC.THE FRONT HAS NO SPACE FOR KNICK KNACKS. SMALL BOOT, FUEL ECONOMY IN INITIAL STAGES LOW.

      Exterior Exteriors are classy and gives a royal feel to viewers and the user. Only thing not up to the mark is that the nose is too long which can be reduced. This helps in easy maneuvering in heavy traffic.

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Wooden finish console is great and anyone who sees it simply falls in love with it.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is powerful and gears get a bit rusty with age. Poor mileage is one thing that pinches the most. I derive 10 KMPL in city without AC and 15 KMPL on highway without AC. Expect more at least on the highways.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling Very smooth and great. I drive non-stop 4 hours and never even feel fatigued. I have driven 1500 kms in 48 hours but did not feel strained. I am very happy with it.

       

      Final Words Overall a good luxurious car with great driving pleasure. But like all proud Indians, mileage is something very important to me. If the engine capacity can be reduced to 1200 or 1300 cc, i feel mileage can be improved to customer's liking.

      Some of the Pros:
      * Best value for money for the price.
      * 97BHp engine (on paper); has nice drivability overall
      * Quite spacious in front and back. Plenty of leg-room. Boot space also quite good.
      * Driving comfort is decent. Suspension works fairly well.
      * Brakes are decent.
      * Stock tyres are 13” Bridgestone and provide good grip and comfort, low noise.
      * Fuel economy is better than expected. Engine is yet to run-in but I get > 10kmpl in city (with mixed A/C) and got approx.15kmpl in my highway drive (with mixed A/C) @ speeds 60-90kmph.
      * Known to be quite reliable and problem-free.Dependable Hyundai service
      * Car has adjustable headlamps, body colored mirrors and side-skirts.
      * Steering gives feedback at upto moderate speeds.Have to check at high speeds.
      * A/C is quite good and fast-acting in the front. Have to check at the back.
      * With windows closed and A/C on, there is almost complete silence in the car. Great for enjoying music :-)

      Some of the Cons:
      -- Steering is heavy, though car has power steering.
      -- Gearbox is notchy. 1st-2nd and 2nd- 3rd are particularly so. Quick throws are not possible and I have to change gears slowly for smooth shifts.
      -- Clutch does not release smoothly. I can hear a small sound when it releases.
      -- Acceleration is gentle and gradual. Stomping on the pedal doesn’t produce immediate response. Particularly with A/C on. Of course after the engine is run-in this may change.
      -- Engine is not very smooth. With windows down, sound is almost as much as the Swift diesel. Again, may change after it is run-in properly.
      -- Headlights are just average. Especially on the highways, I felt they are quite insufficient. Am upgrading to HID lamps.
      -- Seating is low. I’m about 5’10” but when I’m reversing, the view is not confidence-inspiring. From the back of the car, more than ½ the car length is not visible while reversing. No provision to raise the seats also.
      -- Rear view mirror though clear, is small and does not offer sufficient view. Even with both side mirrors setup + the rear view, the rear view coverage is not complete. As it is, I keep the left-side mirror folded to prevent it from being hit & broken.
      -- Not many storage spaces in the car. Nothing at all for the passengers at the back.
      -- Paint job is average. After just one wash, I can see some difference in the look. May require regular polish to maintain the exterior looking good. This includes the plastic bumpers/panels.

      A bitter experince after buying Hyundai Accent GTX Tornado in Dec 2001. I rarely drive on Highway, only on city roads. Covered only 55,600km since Dec 2001. Changed my tyres at 30,000km, Changed Mufflers Thrice within 40,000km, Changed all Shock absorbers twice by 40,000km, a costly replacement of AC unit component due to leak, one piston ? cylinder got seized at <50,000km, an important costly component of the engine starter had to come from Delhi. It took >2 weeks. Noisy bottom, Steering assembly needs repairs at 50,000km. Radiator giving trouble now.
      Final Verdict -Never Buy an  Accent if you want durability and comfort !!

      I purchased this beauty(ACCENT GLE EXECUTIVE)  three days back and I personnaly feel it was a great decision to go for this car,Its a complete sedan with good luxury car appeal.Although I have clocked just 200kms,which otherwise r very less to evaluate a car,but its initial experience is great.Driving comfort is excellent,A.C is fabulus,legroom is great both for rear and front.I have purchased this car with CNG option and I tell u there is no drop in pickup.I will get back to this site after doing few more kms and in mean time I would like users of CNG Accent to pls tell me what extra measures r to be taken other than normal servicing schedule? Well for all new users as promised I wanted to get back after clocking few more kms and now I have done around 10000kms.During this period I faced no problem with CNG like its Pickup,availabilty etc.Its a great car while driving u can not makeout wheather u r on gas or petrol.I touched around 120km/hr speed on highway and it was a great experience.rest all is fine.Hundyai upgraded its software and fitted plates under the cng cylinder making it more safer for the chassiss.So overall I can say its a great driving experience and very light on pocket approx 90 Paise /Km.I drive approx 2kms on petrol everyday before switching on to GAS.

      Thanks for picking up this review, I am sure you will definately benifit from this, To start with, I have recently buied an used Accent GLS (2002) model and in an excellent condition.No one can ever bet that this car not worth buying and so did happen.

      Previously I owned an Esteem (I still regeret why I sold it),what a gem of car.. superb space and enough on power.Maintainance...!!! well I need some time to think when this car gave me signs of its "due".Being an proud owner of Esteem and trying to upgrade my ride,i opted for Baleno/Tata Indigo/Accent, after 25 days of research and some feedbacks we went for Accent.

      Day 1:

      Smiles all around, the faces were glittering similar to the car exterior and was no hint that there is a surprise hidden in.As soon as I went out of the showroom (from where i got this), the LOW FULE LAMP warning lamp went on,yes definately these people do not put in any fuel.I went to the Pump and fetched in 500rs (7.15 ltrs) of fuel and the lamp went off. (wow happy that its working to its optimum).Yes definately have noted the kms at that point, its 47919.

      Day 2:

      Did some good drive within city,visited temples some Car electronics upgrades done (music systems) etc.

      Day 3:

      Eager to show my office pals, cruized my car to office from home with exitement running in my system.Just before a final left to the road reaching my office gate I saw the LOW FUEL LAMP warning ONCE.This was the time when my heart and mind started talking to each other.. HOW ?? HOW ??? well the reason very obvious the Kms shown here was 47956.To add to my bad luck, i have no fuel pump close to my office atleast till 1.5 kms and ofcourse the mumbai rains had done their bit, 1-2 hrs of traffic jam.

      All my exitement turned into haterate... dont know why this happend ?? At closer of office time,since the ignition of the car,as not expected my car did not show the LOW FUEL warning lamp (as i said it came of once and went off in morning).We (me and my accent) soon became part of this traffic,with my eyes looking at the place where the LOW FUEL LAMP warning blows.I some how managed to go ahead in that traffic (mostly in 1st or 2nd) and still the lamp is OFF !!Not taking this much ahead, my km showed me 47961, I got into petrol pump,after a 20 mins wait(car ON for 60% of time in petrol pump),I dint see the lamp yet.I shed off 300Rs(4.29 ltrs) in tank and reached home,the kms showing now at parking was 47969.

      So.. the mileage.. its not crossing 6.06/ltr by any means ?? or i have done something drastically wrong in calculatin ??
      Well last but not the least,biggest question here is tha "Did I put the A/c on? oh yes I did not..No A/C at all.

      In case some one can help me please,you are most welcome.. others put an stay and give second though before buying an used Accent.
