-2021 Nissan Sunny/Versa
-Expected to follow on the lines of the Altima sedan
-Petrol and diesel engine options
-Possible mild-hybrid setup
The next-generation Nissan Sunny/Versa sedan has been spied testing in the USA. This will be the most major update for the car since 2015 and will essentially be a next generation for one of Nissan’s oldest nameplates.
Our spy sources suggest that it will take on the styling seen in the new generation Altima sedan. This means a low slung stance, new generation Nissan grille and swoopy headlights. The cabin will be similar to what we are seeing on the India-spec Kicks and it is expected to get similar features considering its price and positioning.
The previous generation petrol and diesel engines are expected to be retained with the former even likely to get some mild-hybrid technology as a part of Nissan’s leap into the new age of sustainable motoring.
This car is popular in the USA as well as many Gulf countries and will be updated possibly keeping those markets in mind. The India plant is a major production hub for this car for many of these markets and is made here in both LHD and RHD configurations. This means India will be one of the first countries to get the new car when it is unveiled and subsequently launched by mid-2021. The Sunny is rival for the likes of the Maruti Ciaz, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
