We recently posted pictures of the new Ford Figo hatchback testing in Rajasthan and the car was spied again, but in Gujarat this time. The 2015 Ford Figo is similar to the Ford Ka hatchback sold in Brasil and is based on the Figo concept sedan that Ford India officially revealed at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The camouflaged test mule hides the details, but on inspection, it is clear that the new car gets a complete makeover. The futuristic headlamp concept is replaced by normal headlights but the shape is still retained. The same treatment can be seen with the tail lamps. The grille is new and similar to the one on the Ford EcoSport and facelifted Fiesta. The new Figo showcases Ford’s Kinetic design language and boasts of an updated list of features.
The hatchback for the Indian market is likely to feature a non-turbo version of the EcoBoost 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine and the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, TDCI turbo diesel mill. This engine line-up is likely to be offered on the Figo compact sedan as well. Power will be sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.
The next-generation Ford Figo is expected to retain the traits of the hatchback on sale now. Though the new model will replace the current Figo on sale, the latest iteration is expected to carry forward the legacy of the present Figo. Ford India will manufacture the Figo hatchback and the compact sedan at its Sanand factory in Gujarat and launch the vehicles in a couple of months from now.
