One of Hyundai UK’s top selling crossover models – the Tucson, has just been launched with a fifth drivetrain option. The India-bound model, in fact, has been introduced with a 140bhp, 1.7-litre turbo diesel engine with a 7-speed double clutch transmission and two-wheel drive.
The Tucson with this highly efficient drivetrain is now available in the UK with on-road prices starting from £24,570 (Rs 22.16 lakh) for the SE trim, rising to £29,695 (Rs 26.76 lakh) for the Premium SE derivative.
The 7-speed automatic gearbox has been developed in-house and is claimed to offer improved fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions compared to the old 6-speed unit. The former is said to work really well with the turbo diesel engine’s maximum torque of 340Nm developed between 1,750 and 2,500rpm.
The Tucson with the 1.7-litre engine and the DCT drivetrain is now on sale in the UK. Hyundai India, meanwhile, is expected to launch the Tucson locally by September this year.
