Hyundai unveiled the Tucson SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo. The vehicle's launch is slated to take place in mid-2016 when it will be slotted into the D-segment of cars in our country. The new car is expected to receive a good response following the footprints of the carmaker's successful Creta. Take a look at these pictures of the latest SUV from Hyundai.
The Tucson unveiled at the biennial event in Noida is the same model that was unveiled globally for the first time in February 2015.
This is the third generation of the premium compact SUV. The new Tucson bridges the gap between the Creta and Santa Fe in Hyundai's Indian SUV portfolio.
The Tuscon falls in line with the company's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 (FS2.0) design philosophy and looks quite similar to its bigger sibling - the Santa Fe.
The new Tucson measures 4,475mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,645mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670mm. Despite the fluidic design, the overall appearance has a muscular look.
Upfront is Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grille, whose sides are exposed where they meet the swept back LED head-lamps and LED DRLs.
The side profile with a tapering glass house gives the Tucson a coupe-like appearance. This look is further accentuated by the sculpted wheel arches and a prominent high shoulder line.
The Tucson's wide track is well complemented by the horizontal, wrap-around tail-lamp units placed as close to the edges as possible. The new rear skid plate and dual exhaust pipes add to the attractive design bits.
Powering the SUV will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel mill that produces 136bhp and 373Nm of torque. The gearbox option will be a six-speed AT.
Hyundai will launch it via the CBU route in India. For a price between Rs 18 lakh to Rs 23 lakh, it will compete with the Honda CR-V and upcoming Nissan X-Trail.
