- The first N car come to India could be Hyundai Elite i20 N Line.
Hyundai India is working on introducing the N Division in India, according to a media report. The confirmation comes from none other than Albert Biermann, President and Head of R&D, Hyundai Motor Group. Furthermore, Hyundai India's head honcho, SS Kim announced that the first Hyundai N car would be launched in India in three years.
Under the N Division, the company currently has Hyundai i30 N in the hatchback and fastback body styles. Hyundai is also working on the Elite i20 N, which will be available in the next-generation guise. The hot hatch was recently spied testing in Europe, and will reportedly use a 1.6-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol motor.
That said, Hyundai also offers slightly less sporty cars under the N Line. It includes the Hyundai i30 N Line and the Tucson N Line, which debuted at this year's Geneva Motor Show. In the Indian context, we expect Hyundai to introduce the N Line cars before bringing in the more powerful N cars. The first model to come to India could be the next-generation Elite i20 N Line, which could employ the 1.0L turbocharged petrol motor along with a six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT gearboxes.
