Ford has announced that the Figo will also be available in Mars Red, a colour, which until now was only available in the EcoSport SUV. Besides the new colour, Figo now also gets Speed Sensing Volume controls and Wi-fi connectivity, a first-in-class offering. The Figo in this updated avatar is showcased in Ford’s stall at the Auto Expo.
The Speed Sensing Volume controls will be available in all variants which have a factory-fitted audio system in them. The Wi-fi, on the other hand, is a Rs 10,000 option. The system uses a device with a SIM card that connects to the audio system to create a Wi-fi hotspot in the car. There also are a few equipment updates to the Figo in the variant-level. Prices on all variants have now gone up and the base petrol variant now starts at Rs 4 lakh.
The Figo was launched for the Indian market back in March 2010 and has been one of Ford’s best-sellers in the country. The car is available with either a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.4-litre diesel, producing 70bhp and 102Nm of torque and 68bhp and 160Nm of torque respectively.
Besides this Figo, Ford has also displayed an array of cars like the new Endeavour, Figo concept and the new Fiesta at the Auto Expo. The Figo concept is the sedan version of the Ka concept and is expected to be launched later this year. The Ka concept is expected to take a while to get into production-form and will replace the Figo when launched.
