The 2015 Ford Mustang will be available in the US market late this year. There wasn’t any mention of the pricing, but Ford has announced that the car would be priced from $24,425 (Rs 14.31 lakh). However, the American car maker didn’t reveal many details about the pricing of its variants. A website, now claims it has the inside info on the pricing of the highly anticipated EcoBoost and GT variants.
The website claims the entry-level EcoBoost Mustang will be priced from $25,995 (Rs 15.2 lakh). The additional $1,570 (Rs 91,986) gives buyers the 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost engine which develops more than 304bhp and 406 Nm of torque. Alongwith this, the variant gets LED fog lights, body-coloured rear spoiler, six-way adjustable front seats, aluminium trim and active noise reduction as standard features.
Mustang buyers looking for more power can look at the Mustang GT which might start at $32,925 (Rs 19.2 lakh). It gets a 5.0-litre V8 producing 420bhp and 528Nm of torque. The GT gets all the features from the EcoBoost and adds ventilated hood, a dual exhaust system and 18-inch alloy wheels. It also gets stronger brakes and electronic line-lock.
Ford wants to take the Mustang global, but it seems like India is not on its global list of countries to sell the car. Although, we aren’t a nation where a powerful convertible or a coupe makes sense, but with the EcoBoost engine it is also one of the most practical sports car money can buy. Also, it would be a good marketing exercise and will boost the image of Ford in India. If Ford decides to launch the Mustang in India, we can expect the car to be sold by late 2015 or early 2016 and it would be priced from Rs 40 lakh onwards.
