Ford India has announced a limited edition variant of their high-selling model, Figo in an effort to improve sales amidst falling rupee and a lazy auto market. The special edition will include cosmetic changes to the inside and outside and will be available in the Titanium and ZXi variants.
The exterior additions comprise of chrome body side mouldings, a pair of roof rails, rear spoilers and reverse parking sensors. On the inside, the car gets a new integrated Map My India GPS system along with Vinyl seat covers and Figo branded scuff plates. There are no mechanical changes to the vehicle as the car will be powered by either a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.4-litre diesel mill.
A number of automotive manufacturers have recently tried their hands on introducing limited edition variants to their top-selling models to improve their sales numbers. We recently saw auto giants Maruti Suzuki roll out the Swift RS edition, followed by Toyota’s Chrome Edition of the Innova. The Renault Scala RXZ diesel also comes in a Travelogue Edition fitted with features like integrated multimedia NAV system and illuminated scuff plates.
Ford though has improved their figures for June as compared to the same month last year, benefitting from the competitive pricing strategy that Ford has developed for the EcoSport. The limited edition will be an effort to improve individual numbers of the Figo which sold nearly 3500 units in May.We did try contacting Ford dealers to get details of whether the add-ons can be retro fitted to existing car in the market and also about prices of the limited edition. But this information is unknown at the moment but expect us to add a few lines to the article as soon as the information becomes available.
