Ford India's overall sales figures including exports in May 2015 was reported as 11,714 units. This shows a 4.67 per cent decline as Ford's cumulative sales in the same period last year were 12,288 units.
The decline in sales continues to be seen in the domestic sales figures for the company. The company sold 4,726 units last month while they had sold 6,053 units in the corresponding period last year. The exports during the last month grew, as 6,988 units were sold as against 6,235 units in the same month last year.
Hopefully the sales numbers should see a positive change in the coming months with the introduction of the Ford Aspire sedan and new Figo hatchback to the Indian market. The company recently started displaying the compact sedan in different cities and is getting an overwhelming response for the car.
Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India, said, "We are really excited and encouraged to see the customer response to the Figo Aspire during roadshows. Figo Aspire embodies the aspirations of modern India with its striking good looks, clever convenience and smart technology. This sedan is designed to exceed expectations of customers in every way as it gears for a public introduction in a couple of months."
The highly anticipated cars (Ford Aspire sedan and new Figo hatchback) have created a good excitement in India and look promising. If they taste good success in the Indian market, they will certainly help the company report brighter sales figures in the coming months.
