Ford has halted production of the Figo hatchback for the Indian market. Our dealer sources have revealed that the company has stopped sending stocks of the hatchback to them. However, the car is still listed on Ford’s website.
An examination of Ford’s sales numbers reveals a steady drop in the hatchback’s numbers. In July only 463 units were sold indicating a halt in production. It will be replaced by two models: the Figo Aspire compact sedan and later in the year, the Figo hatchback. While the Figo Aspire will be launched on August 12 this development indicates that the launch of the Figo hatchback is also not that far away.
The new Ford Figo hatchback shares its design, features and underpinnings with the compact sedan. This means it will get the 1.2-litre petrol mill producing 86.76bhp/112Nm of torque and the 1.5-litre diesel that produces 98bhp/215Nm of torque. Both engines will be offered with a five-speed manual. One of the things that we hope this vehicle will have is the class-leading cabin space and excellent driving dynamics that the outgoing model was known for.
