Ford dealers are now offering a retrofitted start-stop and security system for the Figo hatchback. The start-stop mechanism and the vehicle tracking system can be fitted on all variants of the car except for the base variant and is available for Rs 30,000.
The start-stop system works in the same three stages available in the likes of models like the Nissan Micra; stage one where the electronics are completely switched off, stage two where on the radio is on and stage three where all the electronics in the car are on. Unlike the Micra, the driver has to press the brake to start the vehicle instead of the clutch. It must be noted that the system does not given an indication if the key has been removed from the car. A replacement key costs Rs 2500, which is far more economical than the Rs 9000 charged for a pair of Micra keys.
We haven't got much information about the vehicle tracking system other than the fact that it will give you mobile alerts and that it will allow you to remotely shut down the engine via mobile phone should it fall into the wrong hands. The start-stop and vehicle tracking are one package and cannot be fitted separately.
