Recently, the new generation Renault Koleos made a debut in the European market after the car maker first showcased it at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. This SUV is expected to arrive in the Indian market early next year.
Koleos is Renault’s flagship SUV which can accommodate seven people. On the exterior, the vehicle carries Renault’s family design and gets the same styling cues seen on the recent Renault cars. The fascia gets slatted grille and sleek headlamps. The vehicle carries the signature styled full LED day time running lights integrated in the front bumper. The silhouette is indicative of full size SUV proportions with a strong shoulder line flowing all the way to the rear end. The Koleos gets smart styling features on the fender with chrome accents. The SUV sits on a variety of alloy wheels range – 17 inch, 18 inch and 19 inch will be a standard fitment depending on the trim.
The rear-end has a wraparound tail lamp unit which has been extended to centre of the boot lid. The rear bumper is styled subtle with a fair amount of chrome bits and a disguised diffuser.
Inside the cabin, the Koleos is equipped with a conventional dashboard and a seven inch infotainment system which sits centre stage. Since this is Renault’s flagship SUV, the manufacturer has gone all out to offer a Bose music system with 12-speakers with seats stitched in Nappa leather.
Powering the Koleos are two diesel motors – 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre. The former produces 130bhp and the latter one produces 170bhp. Both the engines are offered with a standard six-speed manual transmission and a CVT gearbox unit as option. Higher trims will also be offered with an all-wheel drive system to enhance the SUV’s capabilities.
Prices for the Koleo begin at ₹ 21, 54,000 and ranges up to ₹ 31, 20,000 for the highest trim. It is highly likely that the flagship SUV from Renault will make its way to the Indian market and will be showcased in the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. When launched, the Renault Koleos will compete with the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai SantaFe, Volkswagen Tiguan and the much anticipated Skoda Kodiaq.
