Just like the Auto Expo that was held in India this year, the Beijing Motor Show is also one of the most important auto shows that take place around the world. It is also held once in two years, and now in its 14th edition this year, is open from April 25 to May 4, 2016. Here is a sneak peek at the few new India-bound cars that were unveiled at the biennial event.
Renault took the wraps off their second-generation Koleos at the Beijing Motor Show. The SUV was officially unveiled at the auto show recently after a series of test mule spyshots throughout the year.
The fascia shows that the car has taken inspiration from the Talisman, while the rear section clearly shows the Megane’s influence. This one will make it to the Indian market replacing the current one.
China is known for the demand of long-wheelbase cars and it is no surprise that Mercedes also had to get one from their line-up. They chose to bring an elongated version of the E-Class sedan at the show.
The W213 Mercedes E-Class, in its fifth generation, has been stretched to offer some more knee room and comfort to the rear occupants. Additionally, the car gets customisable options in the cabin.
Like the Boxster, Porsche has also given the Cayman the 718 treatment. It is the first time this model gets a newly developed four-cylinder mill in place of the naturally aspirated six-cylinder units.
The Cayman also gets thorough updates to its external appearance. Since, it is sold as a CBU model in India, it should also make it to the Indian market soon.
Audi unveiled the TT RS at the show, which will soon go on sale in the European markets this fall. It will thereafter make it to the global market and let’s hope it is introduced in India as well.
The Audi TT RS is being presented at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show in the Roadster and Coupe form. The performance-oriented sportscar has become the first Audi product to get OLED tail lamps.
Hyundai has showcased the Verna concept, the design of which previews the next-gen Verna. The production version based on this concept will replace the current Verna sold in the Indian market.

Volkswagen T-Prime Concept GTE
Volkswagen has exhibited the T-Prime Concept GTE, which is a full-size crossover that will make it to production soon. It previews the brand’s aim of having new electric and plug-in models by 2020.
It is based on the VW Group’s modular longitudinal platform (MLB), which also underpins the second-gen Audi Q7 and the Bentley Bentayga.
Honda finally took wraps off their new flagship SUV - Avancier. The carmaker had brought this as Honda’s Concept D at Auto Shanghai last year.
The Avancier SUV will sit above the HR-V and CR-V in the carmaker’s Chinese line-up. It will be launched in the other international markets after making its way into the Chinese market.
