The all-new Hyundai Tucson is all set for India launch around the festive season this year. Fresh images of the test mule has emerged from the Brazil hinting on its possible debut soon. Hyundai had showcased the new Tucson at the 2016 Auto Expo event which concluded earlier this year.
Speaking of updates on the new Hyundai Tucson, the SUV features a striking new design. The test mule in Brazil had been heavily camouflaged, yet it did share some resemblance to the India-bound model. The front gets LED daytime running lights that neatly connects with the Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grille. The stylish fog lamps and two individual lighting elements have been smartly enclosed in the big and bold bumper. The sides sport a sloping roofline for a sporty appeal. The rear section gets accentuated slim tail lights that completes its masculine look.
For the interiors, the Hyundai Tucson gets premium upholstery, a 4.2-inch driver information display and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation support. The upcoming SUV will come loaded with safety features like AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking), BSD (Blind Spot Detection), electronic parking brake (EPB), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), eight-way electronically adjustable ventilated front seats, LKAS (Lane Departure Warning System with Lane Keep Assist) and SCL (Static Cornering Lights).
Globally, the Hyundai Tucson is offered in two petrol options - 1.6-litre GDI which puts out 135bhp of power and a 1.6 T-GDI which puts out 176bhp of power. The diesel is offered in three options – a 1.7-litre engine that puts out 115bhp, a 2-litre standard power which generates 184bhp and a 2-litre high power unit. The vehicle is offered in manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission option.
The first generation Hyundai Tucson was launched in India in 2005. This particular model failed to evoke good customer interest and had to be discontinued soon. Making a second attempt, the new third-generation model is expected to help Hyundai mark a presence in this segment with the new Tucson. The 2016 Hyundai Tucson will be positioned between the Creta and the Santa Fe. We believe that the upcoming SUV will be priced between Rs 18 – 24 lakh.
