Ford unveiled the next-gen Ford Figo as the Ka concept to the Brasilian media at the end of last year. This new hatchback was spotted testing in Brasil recently. Minimal camouflage hints that the carmaker might launch the car soon in that country.
The car had been sighted testing earlier in the country before its unveiling. Codenamed as the ‘B562’, Ford might be making some final changes before they launch the car in Brasil.
The car on test shows most of the components being retained that the concept car boasted of. The test car seems to have retained most of components from the concept car. The Aston-Martinish grille, that Ford seems to be carrying over to all its products, will be seen on this car as well. The Ford EcoSport has it and so does the upcoming Fiesta facelift. The headlamps and tail lights, though do not have LEDs incorporated, have the same design from the concept car.
For the engines, the diesel variant of the new Figo is expected to be powered by the same 1.4-litre TDCI engine that the outgoing Ford Figo is equipped with and the 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol mill might be made available by the company in the base variants. However, to keep the costs down for emerging markets like India, Ford might do away with the turbocharger for these models.
Just like the Ford EcoSport, that was launched in Brasil first and then introduced in India, the Ka might be brought to our country next year. Another Ford Figo sedan concept, based on this Ka concept, was unveiled at the recently concluded Auto Expo here. This is a compact sedan that might also be brought along with the next-gen Figo. It will go up against the compact sedans available here like the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the upcoming Tata Zest.
