Exterior Exteriors are just a face to sell a shitty product by Mahindra. The looks are great but the quality is worse than maybe a car 1/3rd its price. I have a WagonR which takes dents on its body gracefully. This car however is worse in terms of overall quality of material used. The doors seem to vibrate when closed even with a little extra force ( Go ahead Mahindra, you may even call it Intelligent Door Closing feedback, just to increase your feature list ). The rubber lining on the door is something I supsect wouldn't last 2 summers in Delhi heat.
Overall rating - Below average for SUV at this price range.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Well let me be honest. It certainly doesn't feel driving a SUV inside the cabin when you are driving it on bumpy roads. Blame it on my test drive on a well built road for this mistake. You may want to drive an older version of the Sumo to compare. Auto AC may work or may not ( The blower speed that is. I'm sure it doesn't control temperature in that situation either). The display on the center feels like it will come off someday on a large enough bump.
You might as well get stuck on a redlight someday with your car telling you to check engine and refusing to start. Mahindra claims it to be a software issue. I have not tried so called tyretronics and host of other feature, but I'm sure if Mahindra claims so many issues with this car as a software issue, they might still be buggy enough to refuse working the day you might actually need them
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is smooth, almost Scorpio like. However, gearbox is something Mahindra should have really tested before they released this car in the market. The gearbox suck and there have been multiple instances when the shifts take more than 1 attempts.
Ride Quality & Handling Think I explained it above.
Final Words A shitt car not worth putting your money in. Mahindra's legendary service network is almost as if it was serving the babu's of the yore. You can not 'EVER' get a response from Mahindra in the first attempt. They do not know how to treat their customers.
Crap of a product - Poorest Service - Absolute waste of my ficking har earned money.
Fanboys who are interested in buying a 2800kms run XUV500 for a decent mark down - drop me a mail. I think I will settle for less glorious but far better Innova
Areas of improvement - Need I say more!!

Exterior
The exterior appearance is fantastic, commanding on the road.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
1.The dual tone on the dash board is plasticky, cheap
2.Quality glitches with the glove box
3.infotainment software had problems twice within the first month of ownership and I was told the Software has already gone for 3rd revision with the bugs fixed from the earlier 2 versions
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
1. Good pickup,
2. Not measured the fuel economy. So given a FAIR rating.
2. GEARBOX - BIG PROBLEM. My vehicle in the very first week of my ownership, had this problem of gear NOT ENGAGING. For the first time in my life, I had to get down from my vehicle and have it pushed to the road side by 4 people on the road. SHAME... The gear would not engage and after my strong complaint, Mahindra provided the required service to FIX THE PROBLEM. But I was not expecting a 15 lac GLOBAL SUV to have such serious problems in the VERY FIRST WEEK OF THE OWNERSHIP
Ride Quality & Handling
Smooth and handles like car.
Final Words
Good looking SUV but the Quality of the mechanical Systems and interior fittings needs to be thoroughly reviewed if Mahindra really wants to claim this as a GLOBAL SUV with all the latest LUCKY DRAW initiative!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Had a problem within 2 weeks of buying the XUV 500. The pickup was not very responsive, the breaks was not responsive & used to make a huge noice when you apply breaks. When we approached the customer service, we were absoutly disappoined by the response we got from them in the initial stages. Made us regret buying the car. We had to take up the issue to bombay office to make them get our attention & finally when we demanded our money back then we got some response from the bangalore service team. They fixed the problem, but I still feel completely disappointed buying the car from Mahindra. Didnt expect this kind of service & the big question still remains what other problem we may have in the car & how is the customer services going to be like when the car get older.

Exterior Good looking, good lighting, when ever you take turnings automatic lights will on.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good. space is good for 5. Navigation is ok. Air conditioning is ok. Any point of time you can check your mileage. If car has any problem indicater will indicates, even it will indicate Low air pressure.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox ,Ride Quality & Handling It will take time for understanding, a lot of features are there compared to my old honda city. As per my knowldge it is good. it gives good mileage. I tested my vehicle, at any condition minimum mileage is 9kmpl(worset conditions also). In Highway roads more than 16kmpl. You can check your mileage any point of time. It is a mahindra diesel engine so no need to think of engine.
Final Words Good looking, good mileage, greate pickup.
Areas of improvement Suspension, If engine is stopped suddenly, breaks and stearing is not working. customer care people. In my first servicing time, engineers does have knowldge on some areas, they did not answer for queries. After my usage only i knew/understand some features. technisions.

The Xuv 500 is a very good looking suv with great features, amazing interior space, decent fuel efficiency for its size and power output, but after owning it for some time all those good and great things becomes worthless because of its really bad built quality, the worst ride quality where you can feel the smallest potholes and it makes u feel like the roads in india are even more worst then they actually are. I have complained about it to the service center a lot of times and they even changed the suspension once and the bushings have been changed more then 5 times and still there is no improvement. U actually feel like you are sitting in a 20 year old ST bus where every thing is rattling.
In the 18 months that i have owned the car, the whole transmission, suspension, middle row seat, the entire clutch and many more things have been replaced but still you cant feel that there is anything good about the car. Even the interior parts like the gear knob. handbrake lever, the hatch dikki door button, and many more parts started falling off and had to be replaced at my own cost.
Overall when i bought this suv i thought that it is a value for money product, but it proved to be a waste of money product. I strongly advice all those people planing to buy this suv, do not waste your money on this bad quality vehicle and instead go for something which may not have a vast feature list but will last long and spend more time with you rather then with the service centers.

Ride Quality & Handling

Final Words : No resale value,
I am planning to sell my xuv w8 resale value sep 2012 vehicle mahindra first choice nagpur hingan MIDC, quoted price is 10 lakhs,
It his kind practices normally first choice will do. Own brand buying rates are very less. I won't feel genuine.
I have had a debate with first choice, they can show the proof or invoice of sold vehicle, it can't sell more then the quoted price because it is made by Mahindra, ( what a branding here ). for a while felt so bad, i made a biggest mistake of buying xuv 500. It has no resale value.
as even today new vehicle w8 model is 16.80 lakhs.
I have w8 model dolphin gray color. single owner driven 26000 Kim's. this is the cheapest vehicle for the resale value.
Please think before you buy,
meanwhile I have spoke to their call center, they do not have my vehicles details after giving the chassis no. They could not find my vehicle details,
Areas of improvement

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I have been driving SUV's/MUV's/Jeeps like MM540, Sumo, Qualis, Innova and now lately the XYLO, since last 20 years. Though there are many minus points in XYLO, but I Luv its seats especially the middle row in E8-7 seater. I am surprised why Mahindra has forgotten to include this super feature in their this prestigeous XUV500 vehicle which could have made this another Balance Sheet turner for them. I only suggest that they should think of incorporating this feature IMMEDIATELY. As India is a country where majority of the people think more of their family and value for money, so every thing else comes after.
Final Words They should improve the seating style and comfort of the middle and rear seats.
Areas of improvement The improvement is needed in the quality of plastics to be used by Mahindras as the in XYLO also the plastics have become extremely bad in about 2 years of us and if these small changes are done many people like me shall immediately go and by this vehicle over the counter.
Good utilisation of power with smaller cc engine & good utilisation of space but.....The middle & last rows are not good. They MUST give the Captain Seats in middle row like XYLOExterior/Styles
