I have been waiting for this car to happen. This was THE SUV as written by various reviews.
First look were great! Though the car has almost same height and space as Ertiga, it has the looks. Internal plastics did not look that bad and dashboard look much better as compared to other SUV. Back sheet space is an issue. Overall tyre gives it a bigger shape, the vehicle doesn’t look that Big.
Now where this car absolutely lack is pricing. The basic safety features like ABS, Airbag are not at all available in Petrol Model!!
In diesel model, RxL with options is the models which have these features. The cost for RxL with Option is 10Lakh ex-showroom in Delhi. Add another 1.2Lakh (as told by salesperson since they did not have on road price) for On Road. This comes to 11.2Lakh for basic car!
At 9.2Lakh you get aVerna with all of these features plus more! If you are fan of something different, look into it otherwise old choices will still make sense.

Exterior This is the best design of SUV available in India Market. It even beats the muscular look of Scorpio in style. The roadsider will looks back at least once it is such a beautiful look. The ground clearence is fantastic. The tyres size is good enough to give muscular look.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Here it is lacking in few points which makes Y/N for buying decesion. I have serched with all the aspects of this vehicle for almost 15 days. In terms of looks - photos, fuel economy, inetrnal and external features of all models, on road pricing, dealors & service centers, my budget and finally made up mind after searching different cars for almost 3 years. to have a test drive and let us give a cheque to dealor for finalization. I went to dealor in Pune and I got the test drive in 15 min. I took test drive and though it is a fantastic SUV available in India I rejected due to only one reason - the SPCE AND CPMFORT IS TOO POOR. I went with my 5 family members. 3 of them seat at 2nd row and beleieve me everybody's shoulder are touching each other and nobody could able to move still test drive complete. If you check the door sizes dash board they are coming almost 9-10 inches from all sides inside. The door sizes itself is almost 9-10 inches which is twice that other vehicles. Also the dash board from mirror is coming more than 18 inches inside which occupy all the space inside the vehicle. And hence though it is looking a beautiful spacious, confortable SUV it is actually not inside. If some body wants to drive this with only 2-3 members and to show off it is very nice SUV which makes impression on the roadsiders or friends and relatives but at the cost of your driving comfort and space for you and other family memebers. Hence choice is yours - SHOW OFF FOR OUTSIDER or OWN COMFORT CALL IS YOURS.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Great Milage, No other vehicle in Inida having such milagein the same segment, Engine sound is even nothing in disel also. Smooth pick up. Smooth gear shifting. All these aspects are excellent in this vehicle.
Ride Quality & Handling I took test drive of this model. Found the front view from mirror is the poorest one as the bonet of this vehicle is very straight and it is very difficult to see the road at least 6-8 ft ahead from bonet. The angles of Scorpio and other SUVs are towards road so view is ok buthere it is difficult. Otherwise it is one of the best vehicle I have driven till date.
Final Words CALL IS YOURS. DO NOT BOOK BEFORE YOU DRIVE WITH ALL YOUR 3 FAMILY MEMBERS SEATING ON BACK SIDE AND STILL THEY GAVE GREEN SIGNAL TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE ELSE IT WILL BE BIG DISAPPOINTMENT FOR YOUR CAR CHOICE. IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING MOSTLY 3 TO MAX 4 PEOPLE YOU CAN GO FOR IT.
Areas of improvement Front View to driver / Bonet should be pressed down by slightly angled down / Inner space should be more by reducing the width of doors and dash board and of course reducing the size of luggaze space which is more than for seating people on second row.

We are living in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. We had bought the car in 2012 December.
Model: Rxl option 85ps.
The perfomance of the car initially was good. After the first service(which has to be done in Chennai only), the AC was not working. Inspite of immediate complain also they didn't give proper response neither from the Renault company or Khiviraj Pearl (chennai).
Twice the car was taken to Khiviraj Motors (chennai) for the same problem(AC non functioning). Again in the third ride back to vellore the same problem occured. Many complaints where registered to the customer care of Renault over phone calls repeatedly. No response was given for the same reason.
"WARRANTY PERIOD IS STILL THERE FOR THE CAR". We have decided to file a compliant in the consumer court - Automobiles Act, on both the Renault and Khiviraj Motors Chennai.
Also to whom ever they ask about the car in public we just say "NOT SATISFIED WITH RENAULT DUSTER".

Exterior Front is very good, looks a muscular SUV. Side arch are good. Chrome plating at front is really a good thought. Back is ordinary gives old desighn looks. Rear lights are too small. Embrossed DUSTER at back looks good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) By the time desighner came to plan the rear seats it was too late so he had a wine and forgot that SUV is for India and not for Thiawan etc. The height of average Indian in North (JK, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Delhi, Rajasthan etc) is very good. It can not accommodate 04 tall Sardars of punjab and other tall people. Crumpled at back. I am 5-11" could not seat without touching the front seats. Space for boot should have been reduced. The desingnrs should have thouhgt of 05 seater only or 07 seater only. They landed up with a misery of crumpling the rear seats.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The test drive was powerful. The fuel Economy will bemuch lower than what is claimed by company on Indian roads.
Ride Quality & Handling Good.
Final Words Not Value for Money. Renault made a lot of hue and cry in media which will not have any impact if the indian managers of company donot discuss and sort out to the falacies by correcting them in light of the competitors to write a history of success in INDIA. Renault should have preferred less frofit to begin with like the Mahindra & Mahindra did for XUV 500 launching it at much lower prices fitting the SUV all sorts of Gadgets what a premier SUV can have or will have in future. Later M&M increased the price and is making a lot of profit by selling XUV at a higher price than at the time of launch. Renault need to LEARN & IMPLEMENT with 360 degree management.
Areas of improvement Make more space available for rear seats by reducing the boot space. Shift rear AC vent to the cealing, as it hinders the third person sitting at rear. The back of Duster looks smaller and ordinary. The ear lights looks minicule. The desighners should focus on improving the back. The lights must be made much bold may think of making it vertically oblique. The sucess will depends on comparison to other competitors like Fords Ecosport, XUV 500, Scorpio, Tata Safari Storme. In future it may fail like other cars of Renault if designers donot sit again to improve the falacies.LEARN from the competitorsand implement prior to failing in this segment also. Ford is waiting to outclass oyu the day they launch Ecosport with ecobust.

Exterior Good enough to attatract everyone. Roof rail are useful to carry load up to 100 kg max. Doors are truly tough and durable. Overall vehilcle is very tough and durable. Make your own roads is proved by Duster.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very comfortable on front as well as rear seats. Bluetooth connectivity of music system is very convenient and useful.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Excellent engine performance, gear shift and stearing is very responsive and smooth.
Fuel economy. I did running of 20000 km and vehicle third service is planned on 30-10-2013.
Fuel average is 19.2 on highways and 18.5 in city.
I did some experiment for to check fuel economy @ normal driving habbits.
Observation are as follows.
Speed 50~60 = 21~22 KM/L
Speed 40~50 = 21~25 KM/L
Speed 70~80 = 19~19.5 KM/L
Speed 80~100 = 18.5~19 KM/L
Speed 100~120 = 17~18 KM/L
Speed above 120 = 15~17 KM/L
Bumper to bumper traffic = 14 km/L.
I did above all test during minimum 100 and maximum 450 km highway tours.
Ride Quality & Handling Best ride and handling like fortuner and Honda CRV.
Final Words Best car of my life, tough and robust.
Areas of improvement Rear view needs improvement - while driving in rear view mirror closer sedans are difficult view, breaking of vehicle needs double attention.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Front part of interior is not bad.the navigator which recurring high cost is actually useless. No rear AC even in higher end version.front ac is not enough to cool rear. Luggage space is more than necessary ,rear leg room is not adequate or can be said as very poor.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The vehicleis giving good mileage if we r driving without AC. I am getting a mileage of 19 kmpl in non ac mode in highways. When I am using ac in cities i get only 14kmpl and 16 in highways. I think ac is consuming more fuel.gear shift is not so smooth and power and pick up cannot be said as good.
Ride Quality & Handling Good road clearence. Vehicle can handle easily.
Final Words From my experience I suggest to buy only base model as the advantages given in higher end version are not much worthy. Those who r looking for muscular vehicle with a good mileage can buy duster.
Areas of improvement The very disappointing thing in duster is rear leg space. Manufacturer can improve leg space by reducing huge luggage space.AC ventshould b giben in rear also.

When I had first seen the duster in upcoming cars in india section about 6-7 months back I fell in love with this beauty there and then. Immediately my wall paper changed to wood land brown duster and i loved it from every angle. I went to the renault dealer the day it was launched but it was so packed with people that i come back and then again went for a test drive after 3 weeks of its launch. the interiors were feeling simple and not upto my imagination but when i took it for a drive , i was impressed to say the least. the handling and ride quality was superb. if you compare it with scorpio and xylo then it wins hands down but if you compare the interiors with verna or city then it lacks in that case. but suv should not be compared with sedans. i got for handling and riding and its massive ground clearnence. however i must mention that the staff at the dealerships is very ill informed and they take least interest in selling the suv to you, even giving test drives very reluctatanly. I don't know why. renault should improve its relations with customers and tell their staff to be cordeal and nice to customers. else there is nothing more to it. just love the way it looks and rides.

Exterior Very good and impressive. Front grill looks very good, rear also looks awesome. Roof rails also look awesome.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Leather seat covers as a compony fittment would have been much more better atleast for top variant in 85PS engine. interiors are acceptable... not very rich but will do types.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good and acceptable. Gerabox could hv been much better and smoother.
Ride Quality & Handling Very good ride quality. Feels like as if one is driving a sedan. Turning radius is impressive and very good at high speed. Does not wobble at high speed, like other expensive SUV's.

Exterior Fantastic looking muscular car with compact dimensions which make it easy to manuver in city
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior overall is on average side, plastic quality is not upto the mark in a car of this price and some of switches and buttons are oddly placed for eg side mirror adjustment switch is placed below the hand break, as far as space and comfort is concern front seats are quiet spacious and comfortable, although rear seats are bit cramped for legroom but the seats offer good thigh and back support and are adequately comfortable. Boot is really big.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I drove both 110 and 85 and m very much satisfied with performance of both engine infact liked the smaller 85bhp more for refinement, noise, offcourse mileage 20.8 kmpl(ARAI) and city driveability as power delivery is very linear compare to 110bhp which has some turbo lag below 2000rpm. gearbox is good and shifts are quiet smooth.
Ride Quality & Handling Fantastic this is the department that duster leaves all its competition way behind, ride quality and handling is absolutely great and dusters handles the curves and bends remarkably well and absorbs every pothole, speed breaker, rough surface very well.
Final Words Overall a very good product but prices are on higher side.
Areas of improvement Firstly interior plastic material quality and rear legroom could be bit more.
