        • Good Car
Exterior  Stylish, even better than most of new cars. The body lines & chromium borders around the side windows give a stylish look. The upper edges of doors are covered with rubber lining with prevent accedental injury to face (which has happened with some other cars) Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Neat & Spacious. Good seats with adequate supports, but the seating position is low for front seats. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox  Good power, smooth & silent. Good fuel economy. Frequent gear shifts not necessary. If going in 5th gear at higher speed & brake to a speed of 20 or less & again want to accelerate, no need to downshift the gear, we can do it in the same 5th gear, the engine will not knock. Even in hilly areas, we can go up with 5th gear. Ride Quality & Handling  Good suspension, Good braking & handling, Cornering good, No body roll Final Words  A nice car that you can own Areas of improvement    No airbags Ground clearance not adequate Low seating in front row  Good power, Smooth & silent engine, Frequent Gear shifting not necessary, almost like an automaticGround clearance, No Airbags,

        • I'd say... Poor man's Benz
Exterior Looks certainly decent especially when you take a look of your car a foot away from the sideways. That would be beautiful. Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good comfortable seats, steering wheel, short gear change lever, rear seats have armrest, power windows are excellent. The space is absolutely sufficient for a nice family trip or even a long drive with friends. The steering is tiltable. The rear view mirrors and the aircon controls are electrically operated. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The moment you sit on the driver's seat you feel like you are the ruler of the road. It easily takes you to 40kmph to 50kmph just in the first gear and reaches 80kmph very easily. Only disappointment is that there are few trrr.... grrrr... behind the dash that pops up. This happened only when the techs replaced the condenser. Maybe they did not put back things properly. Apart from that the car is an excellent option provided you maintain it like your kid ;-) Ride Quality & Handling Excellent. No vibes at all. Mine was a pre-owned car that had 48k on the odo and still I feel it is a new one. Final Words Go for it if you have a nice deal. You will not repent for it. You will enjoy it. Areas of improvement Make availability of the spare parts and qualified technicians as well. Maruti should be doing something about this.Smooth drive, Excellent comfort, Simly high speeds,Poor availability of spares and lack of knowledgeable technicians

        • A great value for money car !!
Exterior The appearance of the car from a distance is better than from close quarters especially the rear side.   Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very comfortable and good leg room for an average Indian (5 feet 10 inches).   Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox As I write I have now driven my car purchased in January 2005 for over 112,000 kms. Barring two occassions I have always got very good efficiency between 14 to 16 kmpl. This is for a 50 % city and 50 % highway drive bewteen  Mumbai and Thane. On highways and long drives to Goa the car has given fuel efficinecy in excess of 16 kmpl at times even clocking 17.4 kmpl. Low on maintainence - would have spent Rs. 60,000 on change in suspensions. Areas of concern - spare parts avalability since the car has been discontinued and quite a few spares including the suspension has to be sourced from Japan.   Ride Quality & Handling Very stable at high speeds - driven at 150 kmph on Mumbai Pune expressway on many occassions. The low car CG helps on the stability front. The sporadic issue of the car scraping the speed breakers is due to the unequal height / non standard speed breaker height. Dont blame the car but the civic authorities !   Final Words I will not part with my Baleno till such time spares run out. If possible ride it till 200000 kms. Too difficult to part from this car. Loved the Altura looks especiallly the rear end but could not buy since it was more expensive. If Suzuki offers an Altura today will definately buy it !! Maybe if they offer a brand new Baleno today will still buy another one. A great value for money car !! Don't understand why it was discontinued.   Areas of improvement Looks - rear side.  Good fuel economy, very comfortable, excellent cooling, Value for MoneyRear side look
