Exterior
the car looks pretty plain from the outside but let that not lead you to any final judgement. no sir! this car still has the potential to look zippy. the car looks different and frankly saying lengthier as compared to rivals such as swift and beat. the only exception in hyundai's i20 but then costs a lac more too!
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
let not the low stance of the car lead you to think that it might be cramped. on the contrary the car is really very spacious when looked from the inside with oodles of space. the car has one of the largest boot space in its class. all this is thanks to the huge wheelbase. while i personally do not like red colored interiors(available only in ZXi and the top of the line TITANIUM model), it still feels different. there is the option of black color also which frankly saying looks way better! the car really is comfortable. however there are certain eyesores too like the absence of rear power windows(even top of the line TITANIUM) does not have it and the lack of steering adjustment. however the company provided audio system has one of the best audio outputs. the AC is also one of the best amongst cars in similar price range.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Ford is known the world over for its diesel engines providing a mix of great mileage and good power delivery and FIGO is no exception. with company claiming over 20 Kmpl the car is well suited for the market at which it is targeted i.e. a value for money car ideal for city condition. while the car provides power well suited for city conditions, on highway at high speeds it really feels that the engine is reaching limits especially @ speeds above 130. the engine sound is audible inside the cabin even with the company using a double lining in the cabin, maybe a triple lining would have done the trick. the gearbox is one of the best out there with crispy and smooth gearshifts and a highly responsive engine. gear ratios are good too. while the peak torque figure of 160Nm @ 2000 rpm may not sound much(Swift has 190Nm @ 1800rpm) , in reality the car zooms past due to good torque delivery to the wheels.
Ride Quality & Handling
the ride quality is a tad higher above it's rivals due to a great suspension employed and handling is perfect. the car does what the driver wants it to! while the lack of steering adjustment may not find favor among many nevertheless the car still is able to make up for it in terms of safety features, rear window defogger and a great AC. the person does not get in the car rather sits in.
Final Words
overall the car is a great value for money! with the base model costing 3.53lac & 4.53 lac for petrol and diesel respectively it can't get any better than this. plus the components for figo are almost similar to fiesta and the ford ikon which ensures there won't be a dearth of spare parts anytime soon & hassle free after sale service. the car has been designed keeping in mind the city conditions with all its potholes and blind curves. not only is the car powerful but it also has enough braking power in it to avoid sudden animal appearances and other emergencies. with ABS and EBD included in the top variant(TITANIUM) the car is bringing features which till 2 years back were available only to luxury cars to the masses. the only other car which compare suitably enough is hyundai i20 but it's base version diesel costs a lac more than the top end of figo, a point which tilts the needle in favor.
Areas of improvement
inclusion of fog lamps, rear power windows and steering adjustment( come on guys take 20000 more but let these be included).
good fuel economy, great power delivery, good & spacious interiors, well built, great city drivepants on highways, large turning radius,no fog lights & rear power windows in any model
