Ford Figo [2012-2015] User Reviews

 

Hi All,

I own Ford Figo EXI diesel and have driven it for around 3000Kms in 1.5 months. It is time to write a review on this car so that future hatchback  buyers  can decide easily.

My budget was around 6L.I got confused between VW POLO and FORD Figo. VW Polo comfortline comes around 6L + accessories =6.4 to 6.5L Petrol version. I liked the looks fit and finish, interiors of the VW Polo and i booked the car. They said the waiting time is around 3 months and I was ok with it.3 months happened and no response from VW you try to call them and the sales representative with whom you have interacted would not be there and you need to carry all the documents and ask them when the car will arrive. I being a customer wants to be treated like a king but  dealing with VW folks it is very irritating.

They my friend bought fod figo EXI diesel on road price including all accessories it come around 6L.I took a test drive and boy diesel at such a good price. The diesel engine is a tested and proven ford fiesta diesel whereas in VW it is just some 3 cyl untested one.I called the the dealer who promptly came to my office offered test drive and the behaviour of the dealer was very impressive. Since I travel a lot (>2000km per month)diesel will save me some money. Immediately I canceled VW polo petrol and bought figo. I got it within 15 days of booking.

If you are confused between polo and Figo my suggestion is VW polo is a good car but it is for people who don't care to pay 1.5L extra for the fit and finish and don't mind dealing with this irritating VW dealers.Else go for Figo it is the best VFM car and a very powerful engine (1.4L)than POLO.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very good interior,very comfortable seats.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Gives me around 16Km=l in city with full A\c on all the time and 20+ in highways.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Best ride and handling.

 

Final Words Best car,very well priced need not worry on fuel bills can go for long trips every weekends without worrying about fuel bills.

 

Areas of improvement BAck seats heat rest and back power windows.

Exterior Ford's Kinetic design is certainly the catch. May not be a wow factor but it does draw attention. Good Road presence and dynamics.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Quality of the Interiors is excellent and also the cabin space is up there with the best in the segment.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The only low point is the lack of power, especially in the 1st & 2nd gears with A/C On. Considering Ford is known for better performing vehicles, this is a marginal let down but you can live with it within the city limits. Fuel Economy is decent but below average. Gearbox is quite good and so is the power steering.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent! You wouldn't drive another brand if you have owned a Ford. Ride quality and handling cannot be matched on any other models.

 

Final Words A true value-for-money car in the market available today. Certainly a Winner in all aspects, compared to the leading brands. As an overall package, it is a ready-to-drive vehicle (starting with ZXI variant) once it is out of the showroom. You need not shell a penny for extra fittments. The Best Bet Hatch!

 

Areas of improvement Ford's DNA needs to come up with delivering a power quotient vehicle. The car shape and dynamics really have large scope for drawing more BHP.

 

Interiors Design, Quality, Comfort, Ride & HandlingRear Power Windows, Pick Up and Mileage

Exterior The car looks solid and so it is. Would recommend the titanium model as it comes with alloys since the wheel caps can be an issue at times if they come of. I have the sea grey color which looks stylish if u keep it clean.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The most comfortable car I have ever driven. Better than the swift. My friends have lots of space to sit behind though extra cup holders are missing. The plastic quality use dis excellent and i keep getn it rubbed and after 8.5K kilometers it still shines. 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine really gives up if ur driving with the AC on. but thats compensated as it gets cool very fast. My car stands in direct sunlight and is heated up most of the times but when the AC is used it does not take long to cool. The AC is waay better than some of my friends Skodas and VW's. Engine can be compared to a rocket with no AC on. The car reaches 0-60 in 7 seconds tops! for 100kmph it takes around 13 seconds. Fuel economy is excellent. I drive close to 750 kilometers in city with 37.5 litres used (18.6 kmpl). Always make it a point for the car to not run out of fuel completely. keep the tank full well in advance. Even in cities it has not hurt my pocket at all. I have driven 8,500 kilometers since the time i bought it in mid Jan (5 months).

Ride Quality & Handling One of the best handling as the steering is hydraulic. It is heavy and simlutaneously smooth. Its not a power steering exactly like beat which is very feathery. One of the best suspensions for a less bumpy ride and very nicely zips around and overtaking is pure pleasure.

Final Words All in all the perfect car for anyone. Family, Office goers, Old Age people, Women. The huge boot is such and add! 

Areas of improvement If there was any I would have mentioned. No problems faced till now. Just provide with a stereo in Exi models. and more cupholders. Perfect car!

Fuel Economy, Powerful Engine, Air Conditioner, Spacious, ComfortableFord dealers, Performance with AC

Exterior Just great, I recently bought a 1.2 ZXI Petrol silver color, as I don't have much running. Driven it around for 100 kms so far. Great fit and finish.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Just fantastic. One strange thing although is that the engine bonnet opening lever is on the left hand side! A hangover from European Fiesta perhaps?

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox A little early to say on fuel efficiency getting around 12, should improve further, the engine looks sluggish in 2nd gear, especially with A/c on, picks up in 3rd gear again. Gearbox is just great, far superior than competition.

Ride Quality & Handling This is where the FIGO scores over competition! The ride and handling is a class apart, Swift, I-20 doesn't come anywhere near FIGO. Rock steady at 80+ speeds.

 Final Words Saw through the maintenance manual. The maintenance costs should be less than 1/2 that of a Maruti. This busts the myth that Maruti cars are easier to maintain. For example - any Maruti requires a spark plug change at 20,000 kms. The Figo requires at 40,000. Also At approx 4.5 lacs (ex Haryana) the Figo ZXI is almost a Lac cheaper than Swift VXI or Polo Comfortline or I20. I have been a Maruti Owner for 11 years, got fed up with my last car - Estilo, as it was giving repeated problems and the car didn't even cross 40,000 kms. The Swift doesn't come anywhere near Figo in terms of ride, handling and comfort. That leaves us with one minus point - underpowered engine, as claimed by auto magazines. However on a day to day drive in NCR traffic or in Mumbai/B'lore/Chennai - where one can't cross 60 kmph, the car shouldn't feel underpowered. The engine is refined and smooth. It's only when one id driving on the highway at 120+ speeds, the engine may fall short with competition, that too on a straight line acceleration. Otherwise 70 horses are more than adequate for any purpose under Indian conditions. A car is just not engine (or Kitna Deta hai?), it's a complete package of ride, handling, engine, space and build quality, this is one aspect most of us forget. Our obsession with "Kitna Deta Hai" prevents us from making good decisions on a major pruchase involving 4-6 lacs on average. Ford spares are made my FORD itself, spares of Most other companies are outsourced, resulting in poor spare quality, this is especially the case with Maruti. Final words - If you want a car to last 7 to 10 years, this is the car.

Areas of improvement A little torquey engine will help to improve drivability under city traffic.

Space, Finish, Ride quality, Brilliant Handlingsluggish engine

Exterior Excellent look After all, atlast I bought this, left maruthi, tata, mahindra for worst quality, finalised Figo in (polo, I20, punto) these 3 cost is too high, Ground clearance is 165 mm which is not ok for this idiotic indian huge mountain bumps or speed breakers

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Am 6 ft and i can sit comfortably stretch my legs and drive smoothly, wonderul AC, really large boot space, Little concentrate on dash board design is required, Rear power windows are not there. speed sensing auto central lock, inbuilt quality audio system are good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Driven almost 30000 kms, Figo does great on highways, gone upto 145 km / hr in pondichery to tindivanam road.. wow amazing ride and control on steerings.. gears are so soft as baby.

Ride Quality & Handling It saved my life once on A grade accident. yup due to its strong chase mould, and body frame and collapsible steering, and surveyr said am tall so i use to drive by pulling seats back.. that is also a imp reason to escape.

Final Words Spectacular car, I strongly recommend this car for a small family.

Areas of improvement NA.

Look, Mileage, Boot space, Music system, quality, Cost, smoothRear suspension they are correcting now only, but ok

Exterior The exterior gives you a Mini SUV look , but should have been till more taller, so that city buses can notice it 😇 The tail lamp is sexy whereas the front lamp kills the beauty. The paint quality is bad and turns yellow if you dont go for 3M paint protection. The door handle isn't smooth and opens with a jerk.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Bluetooth Radio Speaker Phone etc are OK but dashboard, seating need improvement. Even EON has better interior than Figo 😷 . Driver Seat adjustment is a gimmick so is the tilt steering.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine stops performing on slopes. Fuel Economy - 8-9 kmpl in city. Gearbox is cranky and lacks refinement 😢. Beginners will have tough time adjusting to the gear ratio. The engine stops at slow speed.

Ride Quality & Handling Power Steering is heavy and need extra energy if you are used to Honda or Hyundai cars. Handling is not so great thanks to heavy steering and hydraulic power steering . Side Visibilty is poor and window beams are obstruction to side view through front glass. Definetely not a beginners car 😱

Final Words Buy it only if can feed it . 45 Litres gets empty before a 400 km ride 😵 . Biggest mistake of my life . Should have paid a lac extra and gone for swift or ritz.

Areas of improvement The engine need to be changed to improve fuel efficiency without compromising on power 😕.

Space inside the BootFuel Efficiency - Outdated Interiors

 

Exterior Good exteriors, looks genuinely like a car (unlike Beat which gives you a feeling of fist), simple not so flashy but elegant. What more can you expect from it except when you see it, it gives you a sense of satisfaction.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Features wise, i guess they have given as much buttons, switch, terminals as much a driver can handle. I have figo audio system, and believe me, its awesome and I would recommend you to go for it. Usually I connect my ipod or usb with this and bambbb!!!. you can acctually feel each and every beat from the side door even the volume is around 7. Apart from it DTE is pretty accurate and helps you to plan you filling comfortablely. With such a powerful ac, I think I need not to say much, its good that you go and experience it by yourself. I am working in Delhi but my parents resides in Lucknow. During Diwali vacation I with my 4 friends (their parent also live in lucnow) and atleast one medium size luggage of each used figo to drive down to lucknow and believe me no one feeling a bit tired (though we took a break every 1.5 hrs for smoke :P).

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I guess I am pretty much satisifed by the engine performace. Already done with my first free service and engince is butter smooth. Before the service it was giving me 16 kmpl but after service it is giving me 18kmpl and that to in the city. Gearbox is good and small gear shift is very comfortable to lazy guy like me who doesn't like to move his arms so much. :p

Ride Quality & Handling OOOhh I love to drive my car....with a good drive and handling, it gives you a sense of safety while driving. I think I did something wrong, buts its fun to quote here. While driving down to lucknow, we took the yammuna expressway and believe me I don't regret a penny at tollbooth paying the toll. I drove my car at 170 kmph and by god it was sooo smooth which made me feel like I am on butter (which is melting slowly and is moving in a inclined plane) . Ohhh god and figo audio system on top was like cherry on cake (I know it was dangerous but could not control my adrenline.:))

Final Words A true value for money and I guess in that price range I could ask for that what is offered by ford. Although I had considered and took testdrive Beat, Swift and Ritz but eventually narrowed it to figo and I am happy with my selection.

Areas of improvement Though Earlier I thought that Low GC is a con for figo but latter I realized, it is not that low and I you drive carefully you will easily cross most of the speed breaker. And also this give car more stability while driving and taking sharp turns.

 

Fuel Economy, Driving and Riding comfort, HandlingI don't thing (i guess Low GC can be considered)

Exterior Body looks nice, clear sharp curves, long & wide body, less bonnet & body height makes it sportier, sturdy & stable on road, aerodynamic shape, alloy wheels, side blinkes sporty, door handles, wheel arch, big windows etc.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Leg room, music system, effective AC, seat height adjust, soft confortable seats, handy switched. good suspension, better ride & handling, feels spacious & airy due to bigger windows. Best visibility in all corners. for more than 6ft tall person leg room may be issue.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is smooth. 1.4L diesel has less NVH, better response, In city fuel economy is 17Kms. did not checked on highways. gear shifts are OK. lever should have been little rear.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride is smooth, steady on road

Final Words Visbility, pick up ecellent, value for money car. In 7 lac I got titanium diesel with all safety like ABS, air bags, fuel economy, confort. Only thing is that Fuel economy should have been little better.

Exterior Looks that can kill. All colours look appealing.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) No complaints, what so ever, good for five people. Music system is state of art. Output is beautiful, blue tooth connectivity with I phone is just there

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very good, fuel economy Delhi- Agra express way, with AC five sitting, close to 30-32, RPM 1750 speed not exceeding 80 K

Ride Quality & Handling Good and comfort ride. Braking system is exemplary.Rrough roads are handled very nicely and even hilly tracks can be negotiated easily.

Final Words It was a good choice and reviews available on Carwale was a great help. If someone believes in reliability and is looking for a vehicle which gives comfort and is  easy on pocket, this is the peice to buy.

Areas of improvement Nothing- rear windows are never rolled down. so No rear power windows is not a  problem (as mentioned in many reviews).

Fuel economy very good, good power comfort ridenothing as yet
