Exterior
I own a Highline diesel for more than 6 months now. The car is phenomenal. It has an understated, subtle charm that one cannot realise until you watch it at peace and not in a hurry of online comparisons for features. The car has a subtle basic structural resemblance to Audi if you watch it very carefully, if anyone got the taste for art! It simply got the crisp and executive looks like other German premium cars...
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
The diesel highligne has got steering audio control, steering tilt and height adjust, phone bluetooth connectivity, space and holders for bottles, high quality plastics seen in premium cars, high quality leather seats, beige with darker two tones interior, vanity mirror, central locking with driver, remote locking, window locking, anti-pinch windows, boot opening button and remote boot opening, desmodronic keys, ignition auto lock, airbags in steering and for co passenger, lots of display features - mileage, km driven, time driven, km to service, fuel low warning, door ajar warning, handbrake warning, speedo, then we have speed adjustable wiper controls. rear side view mirrors control, window updown child lock, door opening child lock, spacious legroom, spacious cabin, rear ac vents, rear armrest, rear seat belts, height adjustable front seat belts, copassenger seat adjust from rear seat. Also VW has optional rearview camera and touchscreen display provided by the showrooms (only VW recommended, local dealers installation not recommended and will void the 2 year warranty).
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
VW engine is simply amazing, it is highly refind and has got lot of torque. Mileage i achieved in highways is 20 and in cities more than 15. 5 speed gearbox is butter smooth... not much noise in cabin with windows fully up.
Ride Quality & Handling
It has got abs, airbags and very highly stable at very high speeds, means you will feel the control of the car if you want to apply brakes at that speed and body roll is minimal. Torque is amazing even after a speed of 140 / 150 kmph, the vehicle provides lot of buffer to pull further with much ease.
Once I drove to a nearby place and all i could reach due to the traffic and road conditions was 130 kmph only and many hatchbacks were overtaking me at that speed, i got bit sceptical. Then i went on a longer trip with my family (incl. kids), when i was at a 50km stretch of the national highway road which is usually with less traffic i really wanted to test the speed limits and i could see (forget the hatchbacks) Toyota Corolla, Honda City, Duster, Hyundai Verna etc almost many cars that i wanted to race with were all trying for their stint at that stretch. My vento proved the winner, with me attaining a topseed of around 175 and there was absolutely no problem in handling, comfort, noise of the engine or stability of the car, applying brakes to reduce speed wasnt a problem either. The verna guy tried with his car at certain points to overtake but when there were bends in the roads verna let him down as i know braking and stability in japanese or korean cars are not that rock solid like german VW. Duster couldnt manage more than 150, City could manage 160, Corolla was even lesser. Though i have to be honest that indian roads (even highways) are not designed for very high speeds, so continuing to test my vehicle beyond 175, i could feel that it was not safe.
shock absorbers do a very good job in our roads in highways.
Final Words
Thus its not only the speed, its also stability and sturdiness that is important in a car that we should look for. And, Germans do have that rappo in providing stability and sturdiness along with performance. Japanese and Koreans are pure copycats, either in design or any other feature. All the extra bells & whistles they provide are just to attract ignorant customers who do not know the most basic things that they should be looking for in a sedan car. With family i could test car to its limit, thank you VW for your engineering perfection.

Areas of improvement :
I know this is German car, but when you are selling in India it has to meet the Indian consumers needs. Thats what Japanese did. They sell car all over world, in US they has indicators on left and in India they on right. In India drivers need to have one hand on steering and other on gear handle and India cities has too much of traffic and these operations are done simultaneously. Similarly, the hood/bonnet open lever on passenger side, so driver has to go all way to other side open the bonnet. I know everybody want to save money on R&D and this is not expected from a world renewed car maker. Disappointed!!! This need to fixed immediately. The horn is used very often in India and the driver has to move his hand to honk so this needs to be reachable to the fingers either by expanding the horn button on providing extra buttons on both sides of the spokes of the steering wheel.

Exterior Excellent looks. Front grill could have been bigger like Jetta or Passat. Then it would have been a spotless beauty. Back side view is best compared to Jetta or Passat.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very comfortable with good space. Rear AC & front chair movement from backseats are good features. Nice colour for interiors.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox No comments for fuel economy rightnow. Still I have to use it for sometime for that. Performance is good.
Ride Quality & Handling Very smooth ride. No complains.
Final Words Excellent car in this segment. Better than Honda City or Hyundai Verna.
Areas of improvement Blue colour in the display is not very attractive. Same with the red colour in electronic display. It should be white. Bluetooth, steering controls & remote for CD player would have been good. Reverse parking sensor HAS TO BE ADDED for highline cars even for extra cost.
Best in this segment of cars for Comfort, Performance & PriceReverse parking sensor

The Vento's four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will both have a 1600cc displacement though it would be fool hardy to expect the highly acclaimed TSi unit to be there at start up. Nevertheless both petrol and diesel motors would have a max output of 105PS (at 5250rpm and 4400rpm respectively) but the diesel should torque louder - a whopping 250Nm of twist force being dished out in the 1500-2500rpm band. In contrast the petrol motor delivers a none-too-respectable 153Nm at 3800rpm. One point of mention which must be made at this juncture is that the 1.6-litre diesel engine is what powers the Polo Cup race cars so expect brisk performance from the oil burner with its torque doing the talking. Deliveries of the car will begin from September 6, 2010! Here are the complete details on the pricing. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Vento Petrol:
Trendline - Rs 6.99 lakh
Highline - Rs 8.23 lakh
Highline (automatic) - Rs 9.21 lakh
Vento Diesel:
Trendline - Rs 7.99 lakh
Highline - Rs 9.23 lakh
Final Words I had booked VW Vento diesel highline on 6th Sept 2010 ( day when launched for booking). I was given commitment of 2 months for delivery , however till today ( 10th Dec 2010), I have not received it. Also every time you call dealer, they do not share any information. I think VW has taken it granted for Indian customers. Their ad of crying engineer is true. Their engineer is crying becasue they can not manifacture car so fast... SO BOTH ENGINEERS as well as People who booked the car
Areas of improvement Provide audio control on steering wheel. Provide leather seats. Provide delivery within 3 months from date of booking Change the attitude. Accept customer as customer and not needy / begger.

To start with since we decided to buy the Vento we were always told that we will get it with Apollo tyres. I had put in a request to change this tyres with Michelin (after paying the differential cost) which they rejected, agreed company policy. Never during the interaction I was told that I will get either apollo or JK tyre. To my surprise when the car was delivered it was delivered with JK tyres, on checking with the sales guy he told me that its JK that we give with diesel versions.
Had it been the case why did the trial vehicle was fitted with Apollo tyre and Almost every diesel vento running on road is fitted with Apollo Tyres, Then why is that my top end diesel version car is fitted with a JK tyre.
Further he told on the day of delivery that its either JK or apollo that we give. This is the first time I was informed about this, Never during the month long interaction I was told that its either JK or Apollo. He also told me that its of similar quality for which I took his word (On checking with the local dealers we found that per tyre there is a difference of Rs 400.00 between Apollo and JK of the same specs), As I did not to fight / argue on the day of delivery. I took the delivery of the car without any further argument.
NOTE: I was upset as I already a bad experience with JK tyre with my existing car.
All my fears came true when on the 24th July 2011 (950 km old) when I found my front wheel punctured on further investigation we found that there was leakage in the air valve tube which was puncture on the side resulting in multiple puncture in the tyre.
On speaking to the service center they told they will replace the air valve for which they kept the vehicle with them from 27th July 2011 till 30rd July 2011 not acceptable at all from german engineering. Instead of finding the main cause of problem they have lot of isquies.

I bought the Vento Highline Petrol car 5 months back, My experience post sales is horrible. They gave me a highline car with missing accessories. They took about a month to provide me the accessories and I had to call them and shout at least for 5 times. Recently car tyre broke just on the kind of Hyderabad roads travelling at a speed of just 60 KMPH.
To my agony the AC grills got damaged so easily. I have been driving the cars from over 7 years and I have not seen such silly interiors. When I went to the workshop the moment I asked for replacing the AC grills under warranty, they took more than 15 days and they have not got back to me. I have met them twice and called them around 5 times and those shameless staff never responds. I am fed up to a level that I would want give black and blue to the Deputy Manager of Orion workshop in Hyderabad when I am visiting next time.
He is the worst customer support manager.

Exterior Good style, head lamps looks attractive but tail lamps could have been better, overall excellent exterior with great look.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Less spacious with less features, very comfort while sitting but it is difficult to get in and get out of the car, rear seat should have more space for more comfort. If the back space is reduced, the rear space will be more and will have more comfort.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Superb engine with great pickup,16 kmpl inside the city and 20 kmpl in highways, overall 18 kmpl, no problem with the gearbox.
Ride Quality & Handling Perfect riding vehicle with excellent handling, great comfort while riding and provides a pleasant experience while driving.
Final Words Great car with less features, arractive car with high performance, excellent fuel economy, best car in its class than ford fiesta, Honda city and maruti sx4.
Areas of improvement Interiors and ground clearance, interiors could have been better with some more ground clearance.

Exterior People might think that Vento is a pretty bland looking car especially put against rivals like Verna Fluidic and New Fiesta, but I would say VW's idea is differnt. I think they dont want to boast of a car with sporty looks that turns on the typical indian youth, rather the design is solid with German temparence and sedate looks to match to a conservative class and subtle appeal. None the less the above mentioned competitors have taken a marginal edge only standing on looks and features.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Features- Pretty much down on goodies. Parking Sensors, Steering mounted controls, Bluetooth & USB is expected as standard fitments. However there are few wow factors like the magic lever that slides the co-driver seat without having to go upfront.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Awesome!!!!! A 105 BHP Engine yeilding a peak torque of 254 N-m with a flat torque curve starting from 1500 rmp to 3000 rpm. Any mechanical/automotive engineer who knows about functioning of an IC engine would accepth this to be a landmark feat in an engine of this capacity.
No wonder the fluidic verna, a 128 BHP engine, with 6 speed gearbox and peak torque of 260 N-m lags with a full 5 seconds against vento when simulated acceleration run is done from 30 kmph to 100 kmph in indian road conditions.
Ride Quality & Handling Fairly Good and Solid. Needs improvement at low speeds (Upto 70 kmph) There is slight pitching problem, however the car gets magically stable at high speeds.
Final Words I have done 15000 kms in this car. All I have to say is if looks and features are the only criteria of buying, then dont go for a Vento. Else in everything.... VENTO RULES!!!!

The company is very good in marketing its cars but when you have purchaesd thier product then they dont care what you have to say, if you are thinking i am only talking about the dealers of the company but i am very sorry to inform you that company also dnt care about its present customer, I bought 2 volkwagen cars 1 vento (highline) and Polo (trendline) and that was the biggest mistake. the dealers are just taking advantage of being the only dealer in the city and when you complain about them to the company they are not ready to comunicate i have sent arount 100 mail to volkwagen customer care but no response and called not only on Indian customer care but also to a Volkwagen Germany number which i got from some chat group but no response even from their. You guys must be thinking i am fool who bought 2 cars of the same company and is now just cribing but i would like you guys to not make the same mistake.
