First service experience of VW Vento TDI (Diesel) Highline.

My car shows 14781km on MDI so due for first service. I booked it at World Class Automobile, 68/3, Najafgarh Road, Moti Nagar, New Delhi. The SA (Service Adviser) was Mr. Rajesh Verma. I handed over him the car on 9:45 on 8th September 2012. He advised me to be done the following works.

-          15Kpaid service

-          Wheel alignment

-          Wheel balancing and tyre rotation

-          Synthetic lubrication

-          Engine oil filter

-          Air filter

-          A/C filter

-          Fuel filter

-          Drain plug

-          Silicon spray

-          Breaking water

-          Air conditioner servicing (optional)

-          Washer fluid

-          Touching work for minor scratches on front/rear bumpers

On 4:30 PM he handed over me the car after servicing. The break-up of the items are as under.

-          15Kpaid service = Rs. 1350 (labour) +

-          Wheel alignment = Rs. 589 (labour)

-          Wheel balancing and tyre rotation = Rs. 450 (labour)

-          Synthetic lubrication (4.4 L) = Rs. 394 (labour) + Rs. 4136

-          Engine oil filter = Rs. 385

-          Air filter  = Rs. 395

-          A/C filter = Rs. 1010

-          Fuel filter = Rs. 1290

-          Drain plug = Rs. 85

-          Silicon spray = Rs. 999

-          Pressure lock  = Rs. 150

-          Air conditioner servicing = Rs. 1500

-          Weight = Rs. 405

-          D Water = Rs. 40

-          Washer fluid = Rs. 270

-          Touching work for minor scratches on front/rear bumpers = FREE

Total Labour charges = Rs. 2783

Total Parts charges = Rs. 10665

Grand Total = Rs. 13448

Additional Item: I ask them to fit Navigation system (GPS, iPod connectivity, bluetooh, DVD player, CD player, FM/AM radio etc.) And reverse parking camera. This Cost me Rs. 42000.

Note: 12.36 % Tax on labour, 20% tax on OIL, 12.5% tax on other items.

Courtesy: Free lunch for two persons, four times coffee for two persons, Free touching for minor scratches & 2% charges waived off for payment through Credit card.

I think the above experience is good since people are not satisfied from VW services!

I hope this information will clarify the doubts of many New VW Vento Owners who fears to purchase it.

Exterior Alloy Wheels of highline Vento are of very bad quality. I drove my Vento for only 5500 KMS and did not pass thru any major humps but one of the alloy wheels want bent from Inside. Nothing happened to the tyre or the chasis but the alloy wheel was bent.

I checked with few people who owns Polo and Vento and have alloy wheels. They have similar complaints like me. What VW people say is you guys are going thru potholes and that is the reason your alloy where are being bent. This is the same story they are giving to most car owners of this segment. They are in denial mode. Pls raise aware and admit there is problems with the alloy wheels which have come with these cars.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good. Leather seats would have helped.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good. Fuel economy is good.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is excellent and handling is also fine.

 

Final Words Good car, VW service center in Hyderabad has to be more accessible.

Hi,

I have purchaed a Vento petrol. The car was delivered on 7 Dec 2011. I ran the car on 8 Dec. Today, while driving from home to office, there was smell of petrol, and car stopped after few minutes. I saw that petrol was leaking.

I asked for help, and called up the toll free number. I had to go throug hell of experience with people from service support. I waited to 2 hours for someone to arrive at the place of breakdown. At the moment, I do not know where the car is, who is responsible for service, name and phone of people in Volkswagen who I cam call.

I have driven various cars for 10 years, this is my first bad experience with car and service of the manufacturer. I will be forced to file a civil case against the company, in case i do not get help in next few hours. The company stands responsible for risking my life and causing great physical and emotional distress.

Final Words Very Good Engineering. But is waste without having proper framework to support the commitments, sevice to customers. etc. I have booked VW Vento in September in very initial phase after it was launched. Till date (19-Nov), I have not received my car. Commitment date was 14-Nov. Now it seems the car will not be delivered even in December.

No response from the dealer. No commitment. Dealer doesn't feel it is required to keep customers informed (Global Gallerie - Thane).

Till date Lodged 3 complaints with VW - Customer Care. As per VW policy, they are supposed to respond back in 48 hours. None of the complaint was attended / responded. Every time you call the helpdesk they insist to raise one more complaint.

Not really sure how this will work long term. If I face any issue with the care, I am sure with my experience that Dealer as well as VW is not going to respond.

Exterior Interesting and being a new car, does get the attention. But nothin really innovative or catchy.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very average interiors and not much features. No stearing controls and no aux out, The music output is also nothing great. No leather seats even in the automatic version.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Worst problem even faced with a autiomatic. The gearbox started giving problems after the first month of purchase. The car jurks at every gear change and this too after being driving within the city and at low speeds. We sent the car for checking and they returned the car saying its ok. 2 days later again the same problem started . Finally they changed a few electronics of the gearbox and took a week for that. And again after a month of that, the same problem again started and now the company is replacing the whole gearbox which will take more than 10days. The VW company seriously needs to look at its quality and customer service in India if it wants to survive.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Fine but the suspension could have been improved for india.

New kid on the block.No gizmos, poor audio system, No AUX, no leather seats even in top version, Poor Mileage,

 

WORST EXPERINCE: After Four months the Gear Box crashed. Company will not give warranty for GEARBOX. So We had to pay 20,000 For changing the Gear box. Its wondering soon after 4 months the GEARBOX crashed. We were using a MARUTI ALTO for 7 years. No such problems happend with that. BUT FOR THIS CAR , just with in 4 months the GEARBOX crashed. Me and my father uses the Car. We both have good driving experince for more than 10 years.We hate VOLKSWAGEN.

Exterior Exterior is Kind of OK.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior Seat covers is good. But the dash board is very bad for TRENDLINE. For trendline they do not have LEDs or LIGHTS for AC FAN , Cool adjusting Knobs.It difficult to rotate the knob to its positions at night. Dashboard looks like a Low end car.

Exterior I have taken Metallic Shadow blue colour high line Vento. There is waiting for this color of about a month extra. Waiting for vento diesel has come down now, with increase in production. Exterior looks are stunning and very attractive. It gives a sports car looking from front.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very comfortable. Front arm rest is not useful in the city, it is for highway driving. Rear AC vent is quite useful.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is excellent. Gives good acceleration in any gear. Need not change gears frequently. one can overtake in any gear and after overtaking distance is so much, other rider can not reach you unless u r stopped by a signal.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is excellent and smooth in the city, even with pot holes around. Only, when deep ditches with wide diameter, u need to slow down.

Final Words Overall quality of life improved for me, as I ride minimum 50 km/day from residence to office and back. Mileage is good at about 15 km in the city. I have not checked in the high way yet. The car is excellent in every respect.

Areas of improvement Need to provide audio controls on the steering and USB/Aux port for audio system.

The car looks outstanding. Stylish, good interiors and very comfortable. Value for moneyCD player doesnt have auxilary port, which could have been useful.

I would like to express my displeasure with the way I was handled by your Chennai VW dealer m/s Sundaram Motors.
I had my service and body shop scheduled 20 days in advance with Sundaram motors Chennai and had my car VENTO TDI – REG NO : TN 10AE 2544 given on 4th July 2012.
As of date I don’t have any definitive reply from the service advisor on the status of my car been repaired or serviced.
I had been calling the service advisor every day to be told that the work would soon be started and he would update me of the status, but no call back on the status.
There is no responsible person at the work station to give me a positive status of my car repair and service and I am now feeling that the Job done by Sundaram Motors would be as poor as the response given by the service advisor.

Final Words Volkswagen India reputation is at stake with Sundaram motors Service Centre handling VW customer in Chennai.

This review is for VW Vento Highline Petrol. On road price (Bangalore) - 10.18 lakhs.

Exterior

1) Front look is similar to Polo, but overall it looks great with a boot.

2) Rear view of car is very good.

3) Chrome finishing and alloy wheels on white color looks superb.

4) VW tag  on front and rear gives it a premium car look.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

1) Dashboard looks very good with the chrome finishing and integrated music system and climatronic AC controls.

2) Plastic quality inside is top notch.

3) Seat quality is very good, the only drawback is that you have to clean it regularly or else get a leather seat cover.

4) The arm rest/ac for rear passengers/arm rest for rear passengersbottle holders/cup holders..adds life to the car.

5) Music system RCD 300 sound quality is really good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

1) It has got a beast of the engine (1.6 L - 105BHP), trust me VW has taught some manners to the engine.

2) Torque is really good if you compare to Honda city/verna.(153 Nm @ 3800 rpm - the best in its segment).

3) Gear box - THE BEST, YOU WILL LOVE IT...its like 'Makhan' ..one can change it using one finger.

4) Fuel economy is slightly on a lower side.(city ~ 9 -11, Highway - 15-17) , again it depends on your driving skills.

Ride Quality & Handling

1) Superb ride quality..better than any other car in C segment.

2) Excellet road grip and stability at high speed..I touched 150kmph 'easily' .

3) Solid german build quality, handles bad road with ease.

Final Words

A true German car. Its an awesome car for 10 lac tag...You have to drive it to feel it.

Areas of improvement  

1) The music system can have atleast a USB /Aux port.

2) Front design could have been a bit better.

You cant complain much since its a VFM car.

If you are looking for Class/Elegance/power/stability and of cource VW tag..go for Vento..it wont disappoint you.

Build quality,stability, gear box, driving pleasurefront look is similar to Polo, basic stereo system in Highline, no steering mounted audio controls
