Categories (out of 5)
Exterior
Average looks; the standard mid-size segment features and design; nothing esquisite
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Fine, not so bad; leather and biege combo works somehow, however, no steering mounted controls and out-of-date in built music system kills the premium brand image.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
This is probably the only thing i feel satidfied about. The engine is smart (bit noisy) but still good. The fuel efficiency is at standard level--almost every other car in the segment is meeting same standards.
Ride Quality & Handling
Handling is strictly not recommended for Indian roads. The car is delicate product probably meant to be driven in race tracks only. The make quality is not so great and wears down quite quickly. Apollo tyres further add to the plight of unfortunate owners. After-sales is probably worst in the segment and to add spice the company doesnot have even a single self-owned service center to control mishaps of their franchisee partners. Please keep aside atleast 50K annually towards the maintenance. As soon as you enter your car in a service station be assured to spend atleast 10K, which company seems to think as their birth right.
Final Words
I will request everyone not to buy this car. A volkswagen in 11L seems a good bargain in the begining, however, soon you will get acidity due to the relevant maintenance cost. Spare parts--for example, spare keys will cost you a minimum 15K (amazon UK sells those keys for 1.5K only) with one month delivery time. The service providers may be polite but are lethargic. More than often you will feel cheated. Your problems will never be addressed in one go and you will end up spending more on labor charges.
Areas of improvement
I think the brand has so many issues that they can not actually survive for long. NOT RECOMMENDED PRODUCT IN INDIA

Exterior
Very attractive looks, I booked the car 6 months prior to even a demo car to arrive at the dealerships. Saw the brochure and fell in love with the looks.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Totally satisfied with the interiors, the quality used is excellent, does not give you any cheap material feeling. Very comfortable even for those sitting at the back.
I would not advice 3 people sitting at the back if the journey is longer than 2 hours.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Engine is class-apart, German engineering has to be saluted for their perfection. Fuel economy is good and gearbox is par-excellence!
Ride Quality & Handling
Suspension seems to be designed looking at Indian roads, its on a little harder side but the ride is very smooth. Unless ofcourse, a speed bump, a normal sized speed breaker and 2 people sitting in the backseat is a guaranteed touch on mudguard. VW should redesign a shorter sized mudguards.
Driving this masterpiece is orgasmic!
Final Words
I have been using my Highline Diesel version of Vento since 2010, the milometer is about to touch 70,000 kms, so you can say, little less than average use, but I am completely satisfied and I made 3 of my relatives/friends buy a Vento, they too aren't complaining.
Areas of improvement
I would say, VW should have improved their After Sales Services, yesterday! That's how desperate is the need to improve their dealerships/service centers. Many a times the parts are not available at the Service Centers. It took 3 weeks for my car for oil pipe replacement in one such case.
Good engine, good fuel economy and good comfort. After sales services, mud-guard always touches speed bumps.

My car jerks in the morning every day and during idling and when I drive at a constant speed of 50-60 kms in 4th and 5th gear. When I accelerate from 50-60 kms engine produces huge vibration and unwanted noise. I took my car for five times and still my problem is not addressed. Even they don't agree that the car has any problem. It is only after my repeated visits and requests that they checked my car on computer in front of me and the computer diagnosed to change fuel injectors. They have even changed all the four fuel injectors but to my utter surprise still the problem persists and they are not rectifying it. It seems that the Volkswagen is selling discarded product in India. Please read review on the internet. Check keyword 'Huge problem in Vento diesel' and you will find a allot of google listing of ppl complaining. I am going to sue them now!!!
Pathetic experience with Volkswagen cars. Please don't buy. Go for Honda City or Verna but never a Volkswagen.

On 9th May'15, have done 2nd Servicing at Mumbai Mira Road Workshop. (vehicle run around 11000 KMS+, in 2.5 years).
While taking car for servicing, the input given from my side is that front tyre seems to be deteriorating quite fast. Pl check them. They told that they will rotate the tyres and check the problem of un-balancing/other mechanical issues if they are culprit of excessive wear and tear on front tyres.
In afternoon, I got the call indicating that some bush has worn out in tyre assembly area and they need to replace the metal assembly and it has to be done for both front tyres. No choice for me, advise them to give go ahead. (costed around > 5000/- or, don't remember the exact figures, but in total with servicing cost, the total bill was around 17000/- plus).
When I reach in late evening hours to take the car back, due to rush, I was almost 2nd last person to collect my car. Incidentally, network was down and couldn't punch the debit card and I need to go to ATM for take the cash for clearing my bill. The service advisor don't have time to interact (as he was alone for entire day operation & in a hurry to close the day) while giving delivery of car. They just told that problem has been resolved. I presumed that balancing/tyre rotation etc has been done. In any case, since, they have replaced some metal part, thought that the tyre wear/tear should not happen further now. With that presumption, I left the service centre as it was almost 8 pm by that time.
For few days, I didn't even tried to notice any thing as we believe mentally that post servicing nothing to be seen atleast for few months. But, once I observe, to my shock it is found that tyre rotation itself has not been done at all (though it has been charged in the bill). Since, I have lot of official touring activity, don't get time to further pursue the matter. Due to the same reason, I was not even able to use the car much post servicing.
Pl refer the attached photographs of front tyres and rear tyre. As of now car has run 12000 KMS. With such running of only 12KMs, the condition of front tyre is extremelly bad and during my visit to another Volkswagon workshop recently, they were advising to change the car tyres.
I was really in shock.
Other problems in my car are ;
a) twice there is 'flashing spring symbol' in dashboard in past few months. Both time, I visited Andheri Workshop. They resetted the software and advised me to wait and watch. They tell me that there must be some problem in Diesel you use. (First servicing of car done at Andheri workshop only, earlier it was named as Tornado motors)
I understand from one of my friend that he had the same problem and Meera Road service station replaced three fuel injectors. After lot of hard fight, he could convince Meera Road workshop to pay ONLY for one fuel injector (22000/-) and remaining two was replaced free of cost by workshop. I am also finding lot of similar complaints on net for Vento.
b) AC vent quality inside the car cabin is quite poor. Three of them already got broken. One of them; with-in warranty period got replaced by the Andheri workshop free of cost a year back. However, remaining two also got broken just after that. Each assembly (no repair is possible) of AC vent is costing around 2000/-.
This is due to so called GERMAN Engineering.
c) The first thing; while taking delivery of car, the sales person of Tornado motor gave the unique advice of keeping car wiper in up condition. If not done, they will hit the metal body of car bonut and keep on damaging, it. I was totally amazed by such kind of basic engineering flaws by a World number 1 Car maker.
Considering all above problems, even though my car is in brand new condition, I am seriously thinking now to selling it off and going back to trusted Maruti/other equivalent brands who doesn't have such kind of problems in any of their cars.
I am really angry on myself that why I took decision to buy a Volkswagon car. It's definitely the first and my last Volkswagon car.
I wish that Volkswagon India must seriously take these inputs by customer to their design team, find solution and take some drastic steps to improve design flaws.
Generally, car makers call back the vehicle for correcting such kind of flaws but unfortunately, I have never seen any feedback/concern of Volkswagon as a company to rectify these problems once for all.
Volkswagon India has really spoiled the name of GERMANS.

Exterior The Vento is vw's offering in the mid side sedan C2 segment. The vento looks like a polo with a boot which exactly is the car which it is based on. However unlike other similar models, the vento has a longer wheelbase which is noticable when parked side by side to the polo.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) If you have been in a polo before than you will be familiar with the interiors of the vento. It has a typically german highish dashboard, with simple yet functional design. The dashbaord has a combination of dark and beige colour combination which breaks the monotony of the then simple looking dash design. The center console sports a integrated media player which has a inbuilt reverse parking visual aid(only in HL model).Automatic climate control module sits below it. The buttons feel nice to touch and built to last. However the ac vents feel a bit fragile. There is a arm rest for the driver which seems more like a ergonomic failure considering the fact that it hinders the operation of the handbrake. The arm rest also houses a small storage compartment. However the fragile looking arm rest lid lock seems out of place of a otherwise solid made car. The front seats are average and lack side and under thigh support, feel too basic considering the price point.(the honda city ivtecs seat are segment benchmark). The rear seat is also too basic with just a plain bench with a bit too upright recline angle.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Here comes the party piece of the Vento tdi. If you ask me why would I want to but the diesel vento, It would be the 1.6tdi engine.Start the motor and the car shakes as if you are starting a truck. There is a lot of diesel clatter from the engine especially on cold start, thankfully it settles down with warmer engine.Still the clatter is always audible. Lot of engine and drivertrain moments are felt on the clutch and accelerator pedal when the engine is idling.Revv it a bit and the vibrations smoothens a bit with a sound of a crude engine noise. This being the downside of the oil burner. Now comes the best part. First gears is short, shift to second at around 1100-1300rpms, find a empty stretch of road and floor the pedal, the engine revvs seamlessly and once arossing 2000rpm there is a massive surge of torque pushing you back into your seat till around 4000rpm after which the pull tapers off, however unlike other diesel's this 1.6 tdi is extremely free revving and will easily hit its 5400rpm redline if you wish it to. Performance is explosive and if you really love the shove of torque this is the car to choose blindly, It beats hands down all cars in the c2 segment plus a few over its segment when it comes to in gear acceleration.0-100 is achievable in sub 10 secs. Performance is one side and for the sedate folks out there, yes there is good news, the engine is very frugal and delivery around 18 to 22kmpl depending on the situation.
Tthe clutch is a bit heavy but progressive.gear box is nice and the gears slot in effortlessly and is a joy to use.
Ride Quality & Handling German cars have always been a drivers delight and this one is not different either. Ride quality is a bit on firmer sider. However it glides over medium pot holes, whilst crashing a bit in the bad ones. The ride quality improves with speed. The highway is where the car shines and shows its european roots. Where most japanese and indian cars feel wallowy and jumpy on road undulations the vento rides absolutely flat.high speed stabilty is brilliant and the car also loves corners equally. You can drive safely and confidently at tripple digit speeds all day without breaking into sweat, further coupled with the brilliant punchy engine, its a enthusiasts delight. Dont be fooled with the plain jane looks of the vento. It can be a perfect example of wolf in sheeps clothing in car terms here in india.
Final Words Solid fun to drive car whilst being favourable to the "kitna deti hai" janta as well.
Areas of improvement Rear seat comfort and leg room, some niceties and feel good features like key less entry, start stop button and so on.

JETTA CAR (PB02 XX XXXX)
The car as of details below has again now being detected with faulty AC coil and is lying at VW frontier from 23rd February, 2018 onwards.
VW is cheating Indian Customers so openly, and not attending to any of the identified cars fitted with AC having poor technology and defective parts, from the time of installation. I have been told, that VW pushes car in India which has defective parts, and Indian customers bear the brunt. This car has been fitted, with an AC unit which has seen repairs of compresor, valves and now coil. I have been asked to invest more than 1.5 lacs till date in last mileage done of 90000 kms in total. The car is under repair at VW Frontier onMathura Road, New Delhi and has been handed over the estimate again of 35000 rupees.
Has VW done any research, on the regular upkeep of JETTA? It dents your pocket so much, you decide at very beginning not to engage with this company in future. Pinches you, after making an investment in your Dream Car, which never functions as per your knowledge on automobiles. Has not received any information from the service centre, on whether the spare part is available or not.
We would like to ask the quality control team to relook on technology that fails constantly and poor customer is being asked to foot the bill. The dealer/service centre waits for customers like us and pounce on them, when they find a spare which has a high capital cost. They act like sharks! The replacement of the coil should come free of cost. The history of the car repair says so, on faulty ACs. Feel so harassed, if you buy VW in India. Yours non satisfied customer forever.

Very great exteriors . the body contours are great.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
good interiors . for the price little features like steering mounted controls , blue tooth , USB port , 40 /60 rear seat folding are nowa days an essential requirement for this segment . Hope VW takes note of this and immediately adds htese features . The steeering wheel is great.

Final Words Dealership - in Mumbai we only have three dealers. I visited Shaman cars in Worli, and hopeless customer service, cannot handle too many eager VW Vento buyers. But the dealership in Sion is excellent. RK Gopal very helpful. When I booked they had to ask if the particular color can be booked. Excellent build quality of the car. But 5 months of waiting list reminds me of Dzire Diesel waitlist. Maruti is excellent in customer service can VW dealers match? This is my only concern!!
Areas of improvement Dealers must be trained by Maruti Dealers. I am driving a Dzire ZXI and despite Maruti cars selling like hot vada pav, their dealership and service centres are very good. VW dealers should be more friendly else they will be drubbed. I test drove the car and feel the car is technically very good. But VW should have thought that Indians are looking for finer cars with modern technnology and toys and not just a good car on 4 wheels, steering and brakes. We used to be deprived of good cars in the past, but now we demand good technology as well as asthetics.
Very good build quality, presence, fantastic drivelability and suspension, classdashboard too boring, music system(ancient!!), what a waste...
