I own a 2017 Polo 1.2L all-star petrol. To start with, I would say Polo is purely a drivers car. If you prefer sit back and relax, this is not your keys. If you are looking for a feeling of being cucooned by premium materials and a touch of shear quality and refinement under 10 lakhs , go for it. Talking about Buying experience, Nothing much to add here, hospitality of sales department was up to the mark. Riding experience, Doens't feel like my car is a day older to me. Silent cabin, smooth shifts, leather steering makes to comfort for any ride. You can feel the car dipping when u slam the breaks. Don't worry about hitting corners , suspension mechanisms and low centre of gravity keeps Polo in you hands. Looks Most good looking girl in the town. You can get 15km economy if you u really want to in city and aroudn 19 on highways Service and maintenance Maintenance cost it high in the sigment, better option for 5 years warranty. I had a problem with ABS sensor, got replaced under warranty. Trouble. Once I got my car at service to replace the ABS, I can to know my car had this Anti theft bolts. These bolts can only be removed using a the key made specifically for my car which unfortunately was missing. The salesman was not competent enough to explain about this to me while delivery. I never saw such a key in my car. ( Please enquire about such features when u buy ). I had to wait almost 2 weeks for the tool kit to arrive and get the job done. Pros Heavy, strong, dynamic, smooth, paint quality, drivers car. Cons Rear space Service in Kerala Kozhikode Took 2 months for ABS sensor to arrive.

My most lovable n Luxurious car. If we ride smooth the car condition ll be more smooth. Look performance everything goes mind-blowing. 1.5 yrs ago I buyied. I don't like to change my polo need to ride more n more in this. My relatives give more positive abt my polo tats more happy for me n I love it more

A good car to buy but a bad car to maintain. Low and missing pickup for petrol 1.0 engine. Service centres are robbers. The staff at the service centres are flippant. They take advantage of our problems.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

 Steady at high speed in highway. With 1.5ltr Eng 103ps and good 250nm torque. Pushes the car in low lew range very fine

Ride Quality & Handling

 Best in the class. With flat bottom sterring feel like sporty car. Steering response is very good. I felt very smooth at highway at 100k to 120k.

Final Words

 Its the best car to enjoy driving under this price tag. Even base variant come with airbag If you not worried about service cost / resale value and average mileage

Areas of improvement  

 Head Light is quite average

Clutch is quite hard on Diesel

Touch Screen and reverse camera needed

Partial Engine noise and tyre road noise still coming inside on highway

 Rear Door pocket lacks sense

Exterior Looks are subjective but you wont be bored to see a 2011 POLO but not the same applies for i20.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Best in class materials, I would say. It make 14L Honda City to feel shy on this area.

It misses keyless entry feature of i20 but packs all premium features like Cruise control, Auto door lock, Auto pinch windows, Can roll down the window glasses using remote etc. It swallows potholes very nicely. You can cover 750 at a stretch without feeling fatigue.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 1st gear is very short but it needs only to move the car, in all other situations 2nd gear would do.

FE - In Chennai city traffic I used to get 17 to 19. In morning times(without traffic) if I drive @80-90Km/hr it yields 20-24(really!! , i've snaps). At highways i used to cruise in 160 -180 Km/hr with 4 on board and FE is around 17-18(I've done 22000 Kms in 9 months). Unlike other cars Polo's FE dont drop drastically if we drive very fast.

Ride Quality & Handling Mature ride and handling even at high speeds. But on some specific cornors we can feel the body roll which is very much contained in its elder bro Skoda Rapid. But still best handling car next to fiat and old generation Figo.

Final Words You will never regret for chosing a POLO. It simply outclass all its rivals in every department(in spare parts cost too 😷

Areas of improvement Rear legroom and the big hump.

Never boring look. Fit and finish are top notch. Great FE for a 90PS car.Rear legroom and Hump. Like elite i20's rear AC,the hump make this car suitable for 4.

Exterior Excellent exteriors the car looks classy.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The ineriors are good and the build qulaity is excellent, the cabin feels premium.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The car is for the driving enthusiast. I have used  dzire diesel and i20 diesel. The diesel engine performance of polo is class apart. Very stable at high speeds 130+ the car will grip the road. The overall fuel economy is little less. My Dzire used to give mileage of around 20 with mixed use and this gives mileage of around 17. Pick up is awesome and the engine is at its best between 1000 rpm to 4000 rpm. The stering is little tight when compared to i20 and dzire however gives more confidence at higher speeds, gear box is smooth clutch is little tight compared to Dzire and i20. The body and make quality is too good, very solid build, the sheet used is much better than maruti and hyundai, as soon as you will open the door you can feel the difference in the build quality, its the safest car in its segment.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is where this car stands apart from its rivals, its the best in its class at higher speeds you will not feel you are driving a hatch.

Final Words The car can easily accomodate 4 adults and one Child 2-8 years, and drivability is just class apart. If you have a small famliy and you are looking for long drives with a budget of 9-10 lcs. look no further than polo diesel. Its the best performance and very very safe overall compared to its rivals. Other cars in the segment are not even close i20, Baleno and Jaaz (all diesel) are no where close (overall).

Areas of improvement Back seat cant accomodate 3 adults.

Looks, build quality, performanceback seat space

Exterior Amazing looks, VW boot opener is just awesome, alloy wheels in allstar is really cool.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Space little less, but interior qaulity is fantastic, seats are great and comfortable, touch screen display works well.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy is low, but engine performance is fantastic, great pick up, and power. Gear box is one the best and very smooth to use.

Ride Quality & Handling Super handling drove 2000 km drive for holiday and fantastic. even at 100-120 km/hr its just very smooth and you dont feel any kind of vibration. Control is just superb 

Final Words Its luxury in a small package if you can afford. Best in hatchback premium anyone looking to buy, buy top model, the TSI version is also very good bbuut a bit expensive.

Areas of improvement   Space and fuel average, also the infotech system can be Iphone freindly as it only works well with android phones.

I must say am very disappointed with the interior design. I had heard of it’s german pedigree and was impressed to learn of its powerful engine, fluid design and sturdy nature in case of collision. And so went to the showroom ready to pay the extra bucks for a quality car. Then as I tried the car realised. that the legroom in rear is pathetic and cramped.

The front seat is so close that it’s difficult to keep the knee straight for the rear passenger and this is for someone who is 5’ 7 “. Taller people will have to squirm to keep their legs relaxed. It’s like traveling in an overcrowded bus.

May be its designed from a European perspective where back seaters are usually kids. That’s not the expectation in India where grandfather, uncle, aunty all travel together. Good luck VW Polo. Time to customise your vehicle for Indian conditions.
