I can't believe that Volkswagen will bring Jetta in India at a higher price to Honda Civic. In the USA, this car is positioned next to the Civic.

Just go to Edmunds.com and read reviews b/w Jetta and Civic before you buy anything. The same models are being offered in India.

      And I don't get this:
      1) Skoda, Audi, VW are owned by same company.
      2) Skoda has the latest platform in Laura. And believe it or not, Skoda's reliability ratings are consistently better than VW over the years. Other things going for Skoda (relative to VW) are its bigger dealer network (50+ for Skoda, 7 for VW).

In absolute terms though, Skoda is a scam as well. All over the world (except India) the Laura is just the next version of Octavia. And its called Octavia all over the world. In India, Skoda guys did the clever trick of badging it "Laura" and charging 3L more for it.

I don't know when these foreign car makers will give respect to Indian buyers...

      Cheers.

Hi! I bought VW Jetta Automatic diesel verison. This is my first diesel car and I am really happy with the performance till now. Excellent pick-up for an automatic diesel version, quite sturdy and very good drive quality. Ground clearence could have been little better but not a major problem. Look aquite plush and has all ingredients of top end car. I think a great buy and with a company committing a 3 year Maint free program. Thanks AmitGood ride qulaity, effortless pick-up even with automatic diesel verson, good interiorsblue tooth ability in car stero, sun & moon roof

Exterior Nice exterior but they should have given parking sensors as a built in at least in the top model.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are very good with a good music system, very comfortable seats and very spacious

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox With diesel, the engine is wonderful without any noise and delivers max power; fuel economy is about 10/ltr and the automatic version, which I have , has a wonderful driving pleasure.

Ride Quality & Handling Extremely pleasant ride quality with very good suspension.

Final Words My car is lying with them for past 50 days and parts are not available in India as per dealers and no body cares to update on the status and very callous attitude towards customers. Hopeless, pathetic and poor service. They told me first that I will get the car within 8 days, though the damage was very minimal in the front, then they kept on extending the date by 10 days everytime and now I don;t know when I will get my car.

The part ( axle) is not available even in their plant at Aurangabad and I was told that it needs to be imported and for last one month, they couldn't import even one piece. I still do not know when they will return my Car. Moreover- their attitude is so uncaring that no body even bothers to call me and update the status- very unfriendly and cold attitude. I do not know how they will survive in India when the customers are really demanding and they cannot even provide the basic services. Parts are also too expensive.

Areas of improvement They should improve their attitude first towards customers.

Good car to drive, toughVery poor after sales service with a bad attitude

The Jetta, I find, is NOT suitable for Indian roads. And the company apparently is unconcerned and unresponsive. I had purchased a Jetta in Jan09 and last month I had to drive through a rough patch of road like a few internal roads in India are , and I was driving carefully to avoid running into a pothole at a fast speed. After that the car started wobbling at a speed of 75khph. On check up by the dealer it was found that all 4 Wheel rims had been dented and NOT REPAIRABLE. And the company is in no mood to change them.

Also the car bottoms touches most sped breakers even if you are cautious.

The car perfroms very well for first 50,000 Kms. Tyres need change every 40K Km, Batter need change every 2 years. The Tyre rims get damaged too soon as they are not designed for India.

Today I spent Rs.1,02,017.00 after 90K Kms for service and change of few parts. The Service Center at Rajajinagar did a not fix the recliner seat knob, the dicky hydrolics, charged me but oil are still black, fuel was lesser, stole my SD Card.

So the car is good, but remember you have to go to service center everytme and pay 20-25k per service and 100K for 90,000 Kms service.

The suspension give trouble after 75,000 Kms and is very expensive to change.

      Cost per year for maintenance:

      1st Year - Rs.20K

      2nd Year - Rs.25K

      3rd Year - Rs. 45K

      4th Year - Rs. 75 K

      5th Year - Rs.125 K

The car is great, but only if you can afford it over a period of time.

It is better to sell it after 3 years of use. The roads in India do not allow these cars to remain sturdy after 3 years, as it would in the western countries.

Fuel efficiency, ruggedness, automatic everything, music systemService & Maintenance is very expensive, Parts are never available. Service centers are inefficient.

guys, you might already be aware that the car has the same engine nd technology as the octavia-its just a bit bigger.I had gone for a test drive last saturday and it felt absolutely the same as the octavia.the only thing is that it has a whole bunch of new features that may sound good at first but are totally useless when your actually driving the car.so,for those who want the european build quality, reliability and solidity-buy a skoda.but if you want all of that stuff, but with the flash value(ie passats younger cousin)all for a few more lakhs-meaning that you have to be mega-rich to be able to afford to buy one,but if you can,you should.very good economy-16 kmpl city-its a dieselnot a very powerful aircon

If you Excessive Money to waste, do some charity for under privelaged of the society than buying Jetta. Petrol engine is just too boring. Diesle Engine same as sister Skoda LAURA but at much better price.Costy of owning and maintenance can make anyone bankrupt.

If you want to look different on road, go for FIAT LINEA, at half the price but equally comfortable. Easy on wallet in running and maintenance, vert attractive styling. LINEA is much more powerful than, it looks on paper. 1.3 MJD is similar to Vista, Palio & Swift but re-tuned for delivering much more excitement. Petrol is not given much consideration due to DIESEL version BUT LINEA 1.4 is steller performer. At par with ,may be better than Verna, SX4 etc.

Just try it at Tata-FIAT outlet

Last week, I purchased Jetta Trendline TDI 1.9. It is really a stylish and technology advanced car.Stunning looks and behind the steering wheel you feel full of power. The interior is superb and four people can sit comfortably. The rear seat is good only for two.
But I was disappointed that after spending huge money on this car Volkswagon has decided to compromise on many accessories. They have not provided Mobile phone pocket,.blue tooth facility, i pod connection, first aid box, rear window wiper.front light washer in this model though in other models these useful accessories present.
In the crowded areas, whenever the speed is low it stops in the second gear. Frequently, one has to shift to first gear. The mileage is about 15 Kms on highway.
On the whole, it is good car thoiugh I find it a little more expensive.

German smile because of there cars.Truely.

With a VW batch in middle of the grill this car will catch your attention.

with superb built quality this car gives you sense of security and peace of mind you get with a typical Germa saloon.

A 77 kg Direct Shift Gearbox(DSG) with double clutch packs lets you use gear technology used in Audi's.DSG allows you to enjoy Auto and Manual transmission in one car with jsut a shift of Gear Knob...Amazing...isn't it.

Dirve quality is fine but engine is bit nosiy because of Pump Duse technology used in VW cars for India as compared to CRDi engines used in the other parts of the world. But Pump Duse are better performer and efficient than CRDi,so we can't complain.

Overall a German brand wchich says it all.....
