Exterior The Etios Cross gets matte-finished black plastic cladding all around, a bold front grille, prominent roof rails, skid plates, blackened B-pillar, spoiler, diamond-cut 15-inch alloy wheels, ‘Etios Cross’ badging on the boot lid and sides, ORVMs with turn indicators and rear window defogger with wiper, all of which give the car a muscular look. The cladding makes the Etios Cross 120 mm longer, 40 mm wider and 45 mm taller than the Etios Liva, and the treatment ensures it stands out in the crowd. In fact, while driving on Delhi roads, we got eyeballs almost every minute and inquiries every 10 minutes.

Interior The cabin, too, has been embellished. Piano black interiors, seats with ‘Etios Cross’ badging and white stitching, 2 DIN audio system, audio controls on leather-wrapped steering wheel, all of these make the cabin a happening place to be in. However, the car doesn’t get electrically-operated ORVMs. The car is very spacious and both front and rear seats are comfortable; the driver seat is height adjustable. The layout of the cabin, however, remains the same—the centrally-mounted instrument cluster may not be to everyone’s liking. The boot space is a large and usable 251 litres.

Safety There is some good news here. The Etios Cross gets ABS with EBD, dual front airbags and, what Toyota calls, a collision absorbing body. It gets anti-corrosion steel sheet at areas prone to rusting, under-body coating and anti-chip coating.

Engines The Etios Cross is available with three engine options—1.2-litre petrol (79 bhp), 1.5-litre petrol (89 bhp) and 1.4-litre diesel (67 bhp)—all mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Drive Because the engines remain the same, the Etios Cross drives pretty much like the Etios Liva. The 1.2-litre petrol feels a tad underpowered, but the 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel are fun to drive. At higher revs, the engine sound seeps into the cabin, which means Toyota still has to work on insulation.

Verdict Unlike the Cross Polo, the Etios Cross isn’t a half-hearted effort at creating a crossover. The 1.2-petrol costs Rs 5.76 lakh, the 1.5-petrol comes for Rs 7.35 lakh and the 1.4-diesel retails at Rs 6.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Compare that to Rs 7.75 lakh for the Cross Polo (it comes only in diesel variant) and you realise Toyota has played the price card very well. It is not much different to drive than the Etios Liva and the cabin is still noisy at high speeds, but the Etios Cross gets a lot of attitude and, I must say, is the finest version of the Etios range yet. It may not yet change Toyota’s fortunes in the small car segment, but Toyota has crossed the Rubicon with this car and the only way ahead is better quality levels in the Etios range.

Good fuel economy, Great style, Top Rated Comfort, Sporty interior cabin with decent leg space.....Ground clearance is not as good as other contenders, Cost of ownership can be more competitive, Boot

      Exterior

I own a 1.4VD grey. The exteriors give you a sporty and tough look.I was one of the first customer of the cross in my town and hence when i drove it i enjoyed the popped up look of the passerbys.Since I am a doc by profession, everyone queried y i chose a sportz vehicle rather than a vehicle which most doctors own.The rails and the grilles gives the vehicle a tough look.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

The interiors are all too good when compared to its cousins the etios and etios cross. There is enough leg space and 5 persons can ride comfortably for longer distances without much weariness.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

For a diesel version there is a slight sluggishness and it takes a fewer seconds longer for the machine to bust of over the road. Riding uphill still has to be improved .The city ride when concerned is excellent.the gear shift ratios are good, still u have to make slight dealays for a sec to place gear plays. the fuel economy has been consistent for the past 1.5 years and gives me 18.75-20 km/l and long drives fetched me a decent 22km/l a number of times and that too with the aircondition on

      Ride Quality & Handling

The bumpy roads and humps have given me only little concerns. My friend who has got an etios says there is much better road clearance fo the etios cross and i too have felt it quite often. stability wise its relatively better than any maruti variants.

      Areas of improvement

More insulation to reduce the exterior sound. The pull while over taking and riding uphill.

Exterior: Very good design, however the Rugged Finished plastic body quality could have been much better.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): Huge space, once i have driven the car with 6 people, of which 4 were fat..  Nice experience on Long drives..  Nice Interiors. But lacks Bluetooth and volume control in stearing in this varient- Wrong decision by Toyota . No seat belt adjustment- once again wrong planning or stingy decision..

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox- Gear shift is very smooth, First car to drive but got a 15.5 on a long drive with AC.

Ride Quality & Handling: Gear ratio for second gear could have beet better, as it lacks power and stops on small spead breakers. Had to shift to First gear in many places which is quite Inconvenient.

Final Words Low power in second gear may be to improve the milage in local drive, may be a good move but people drive on bad road would have tought time..

Areas of improvement No Safety feature like ABS or Airbag option even for extra cost. Which is a biggest wrong decision by a Auto company. Cheap decisions.. Giving as a option for 1.5L Variant.

Bluetooth, Volume control on stearing are the difference between 1.2 L and 1.5L Variant. Once again cheap decisions by Totota I am happy to pay another 1-2K extra to get this feature fitted outside, but cannot match with company fitted models.. It they had to consider these features, it would be a bare minimum cost.

In net some one in the marketting guy of Toyota company has screwed up 1.2L variant with no options and making these minor as a difference factors for 1.5L variant. I doubt people would upgrade for these reasons.

I bought this car from wasan toyota nasik, Though I live in Thane district. Overall pre n post sell services offered in Nasik r better in my opinion. I had never driven any Toyota earlier as I never owned any.

Besides that liva or cross was not even there in my short list for the fact that I had some preconceived notions that they looked ugly. However once it so happened that I saw a brand new liva while I was passing by and suddenly it ignited a spark in me. I immediately rushed to nasik to book liva.

One Mr. Mithun soon insisted me to check out cross and in no time I was enthralled by its beauty. I was only worried about its performance as it offered only 67 bhp. However that was overshadowed by the packages on the other hand. Imagine 180000 kms and 5 yrs extended warranty wasn't a bad deal at all.

Trust me guys my riding experience has been the best of all times. I haven't driven succha beautiful engine before. It doest jus drive, it romances with the roads and keeps blowing up the kisses in air. Believe me I would hav rated it much more if I could. Folks shut your eyes and buy the car if u r a serious buyer.

Don't waste your time around the toys and some tin shits. The other car I own is Ford figo aspire and that is also wonderful. Buy any one of them. If I wer to compare engines I would say the Toyota period cross is feminine and it would keep romancing wid you. Whereas Ford figo is robust and manly. Well in that case "bromancing" is not bad too...?

Etios cross is without any cons. Trust me. I only wish it had lil more boot space though.

      Exterior

The car looks really good with the body cladding and the roof rails. We got the inferno orange and we love how it looks. It has a strong muscular look and a good presence on the road.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

It is big on space and the seats are very comfortable. The Piano black finish adds a premium feel to the interiors. The driver's seat is height adjustable and it gives a good view with almost a SUV like ingress and egress.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Gear shifting is smooth and sure. We've been getting over 20 KMPL on highways with AC on.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Cornering is good. I enjoyed driving in the hills recently.

The steering response is good. The ground clearance is really good, I drive with confidence over speedbreakers in the city and bad roads on my trips. I even took it on a very rough track and not a single bump or scratch. It's a pleasure driving the car.

      Final Words

For some reason I did not like toyota small cars for the longest time. After driving the Cross for a couple of months, i wonder why that was. This is a very good car and Ive been enjoying driving it.

      Areas of improvement

Big on space and comfort. Good fuel economy. Nearly flat bed rear row. Some plastic parts look like poor quality

Exterior I own a white etios cross its looks are just awesome and sporty.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Cross is very spacious and its comfortable too. As i have mentioned there is no AUX and Bluetooth connector in the car audio. the boot is also quiet satisfying.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The main problem is that 2nd gear doesnot not generate enough power. I have to mostly travel in hilly regions so im having little problem there.Fuel economy ia also satisfying. there is no problem with gearbox its smooth but sometimes its difficut to shift gear.

Ride Quality & Handling The handling of the car is awesome. smooth riding.

Final Words Toyota should do something about the pulling power in 2nd gear. Well, Cross is a good car suspension is also good overall it is satisfying.

Areas of improvement More safety options like ABS, should improve audio system, should improve pulling power in 2nd gear.

The exterior of the car is awesome, handling is easy, good fuel economyThere is no AUX and Bluetooth connector,Not enough power in 2nd gear.
