I was driving a Hyundai Getz GLX, a well engineered car, since 2006. I wanted a Sedan as quiet as a Hyundai.I could not drive a petrol car for a test drive, something that I regert now. I took a test of their Disel car for about ten km. It was a noisy car, but I thought it was diesel anyways.

Exterior My first impression was WOW! What a look. On a closer look I could make it out that it was Innova junior from front and Mahindra Verito from rear. Still it was Toyota. It was an admirable car for its look. The shape of the dooe was like an egg from the to which spoiled its look. When I closed the door the sound was not that of a modern day car. It reminded me of an Ambassador. The rubber beadings looked weak. There wasnt any beading abouve the door, but a slot was provided. The power windows were a bit noisy.I asked whether the music system could be switched on, the CCE said he did not have the key. My idea was how much sound proof was the car. The mudgaurd seemed to be a bit higher than required from the vertex of the tyres. Bumpers were looking sophisticated in the front. Overall exterior was good. The chrome decoration on the dicky was looking unnecessary. The car had only one wiper. I am yet to drive it inthe rain.I amnot sure how it will perform. The head lights, fog lamps indicators were all very well placed. The rear view mirrors were manual for its class. To adjust the rear view mirror at the pillion side was not an easy task as I had to lean quite a lot to adjust it. The dicky was very spacious for its class. The boot lamp should have been a little more brighter.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The dash board is made of good plastic. The glove box is spacious. One can push a small bag inside. The cooling mechanism of the glove box looked innovative. Like in other cars of this class the seat did not have a mechanism to go up and down. The seats were bi coloured, with red and ash which looked somewhat odd. It did not have the executive look. Airconditionig was excellent. The revolving type a/c vent can easily ciriculate the air all over. The tachometer and speedometer were place at the centre in such a way that it was to be made visible to all travelling in the car. They were looking extra large. The boot space was more than enough for the front space and the rear seats. The doors would not close silently and softly. It was quite noisy and almost had to give it a mild bang.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The pick up was excellent. Fuel economy was 18.7km /L with AC at a speed of 70kmph. When I started the car it started like a diesel Indigo, shaking its body all over and then became silent. I would  say that the Etios make quite a lot of noise and vibration.Transmission is smooth except for reverse. The fourth gear was vibrating at a speed of 60kmph.

Ride Quality & Handling Maneuvering was easier than Manza, but not as easy as Verna. Still it wasnt difficult.

Final Words Etios iPetrol s just an above average car of the new age Sedan class. If fuel economy is not an issue, Honda City would be a better choice.

Areas of improvement Thickness of the body,Door closure system,Engine vibration,Design of the door, Location of the Jack.

Exterior, boot space, a/c, fuel economyNoisy engine, poor music system, vibration of engine

Exterior Excellent exterior. I heard people saying about one wiper, but the coverage of single wiper in Etios is more than two wipers.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) If we talk about interiors then it is very spacious car (boot space of 595 litres), comfort while driving and also while setting at back. Qualty of AC is also amazing even @ 42 degree Celcios. Overall great sedan to have.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Smooth gear handling as compared to Maruti and Hyundai. I have used both but class of Toyota is amazing. Fuel economy is also good, as i am using my car mostly in city so it is giving me great mileage as i have expected.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent, you won't feel when you reach 100 KM speed in few secs.

Final Words Excellent Car for Sedan lovers with low range and max output. Love driving it.

      Areas of improvement NA.

7 months back I started the search for an entry level sedan, as I was the owner of a small car i10. I was looking for something big now.

After test driving verna, sx4, etios , rapid and ford classic. I took the decesion on following factors.

Verna: Car was a uncontrolled horse. I really felt unsafe after 100 kmph and main thing is these              korean hyundai cars are big hole in your pocket. My i10 get services for around 10000                    every six months. So I avoided hyundai.

SX4:     Useless car, no spaceinside,  same swift dzire engine, common, who is going to buy it.                     They wre giving straight discount of 1lakh when I was planning to buy it.

Skoda:  Zero customer satisfaqction and hole in pocket.

Ford:     Really nice car, but I doubt its reliability and maintaince cost.

Now I met my perfect partener i.e. Etios

Went to show room, I was offered to drive etios VD, the moment I sat inside car , wow. It was awesomly confortable, too much leg room in rear, boot was a well.

Drove the car two times and finally booked it and it got deliverd on 13 Dec 2013 and till now I have driven it on mountains, highway and touched 160 Kmph with five person in side.

And touch 140 daily on Noida express way. :)

Exterior Exterior of car is ok, etios 2013 looks good on road, I have noticed many running etios and they look good. I dislike the thin metal quality used by toyota although it improved on economy being lighter. Toyoto need to improve on this metal quality part. I will say its ok.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Plastic quality used is bad and thin. Instrument pannel has many indicators. I like the hight adjust. Speedometer is in center, actually I like it :). Comfort is awesome, actually its the main thing I look in a car while driving. I will give 5/5 in comfort. My mom was never able to sit in rear in my i10 due to comfort issue. But she now preffers to sit in rear.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Now comes the main part. Engine since it is borrowd from corola and leniar torque is added to it engine is good.

I need to be in a mood to drive it, i.e. you need to rev a bit to puch the car, but's ok car doesn't say no to it.

Gear shift, it's like 1-2-3-4--6. Fifith gear is like sixth. So , on highways I use sixth gear after 90-100 kmph. Although people say swift performs better, I say it's ok because my legs are cramed in swift.

Economy Achieved 18 kmpl in city and 21 on highway. For economy driving style anf traffic matters a lot.

Ride Quality & Handling Steering is good and soft, but you need to make few extra turns. Handling as at par with all the cars, better then verna, no one handles better than FORD.

Final Words I like my car a lot amd enjoy driving it, first servcie is pending so engine oil change will pump new energy into my car. I would say, buying a car is your choice and consider the aspects you like about the car. Don't go with people advice because its always confusing.

Areas of improvement Interior, plastic quality, thin metal outside. Rest is ok.

Comfort, Gearshift, Night drive, Boot space, Fuel economy , Easy driveAccelerator response, car performance on full load, Plastic quality and thin metal used

Hi, My name is Nitin and i am a harassed Toyota Etios owner with reg no DL3CXXXXXX. I bought an Etios GD in June 2012. The car has currently done 54000 kmsTo cut a long story short, I had gotten a full service done at 44273 kms on 16.3.14 at an inefficient dealer - Espirit Toyota at Noida. After driving the car for close to 6000 kms on my regular oil check ups I realised that the car was exhausting the engine oil very quickly. So I got alarmed and got it topped up. After a couple of days I saw that the car was giving out smoke from the exhausts. I immediately went to Espirit Toyota wherein I got a service done(53456 kms) on 21.8.14 and I was told by Abhishek Saxena, service advisor that it looks like some kind of a manufacturing defect and they told me that they would put the car under observation and told me to comeback after 5000 kms post which they would get it fixed under warranty. I was told this was a process. However on the 1st of sep, having driven the car for 400 kms and realizing the the engine oil was totally being consumed I went back to them and urged them to take this problem seriously. My car has been with Espirit Toyota since and after relentless follow up, I was told on the 12th of sep that my warranty had been refused. I would also like to point out that the service staff including Abhishek saxena and the service manager whose name I do not recollect were totally casual about it and non helpful as well. They refused to give me details about the TKM staff and asked me to only speak with the customer care. The service manager is a very funny guy and he said he has no idea who the TKM service manager was and that TKM guys would not waste his time talking to a customer. Then I was put on to a lady called niti nangia who is the CC person at Espirit. After 2 days she basically repeated that TKM had rejected my warranty. Even though the warranty is for 100000 kms/3 years and my car falls well within that criteria. Even she refused to pass on TKM details saying that she would lose her job for forwarding TKM managers details and told me to look up the website. Questions for TKM: 1 Why do you offer a fraud warranty when you are always ready with flimsy reasons to not honor it.? 2 Could you share data on warranty/claim ratio? 3 Are you guys too big to even talk to your customers? 4 I want my car fixed under warranty or else I wish to seek a complete refund so that I can buy a safe car like a Maruti/Hyundai/mahindra. All offer great customer experience by the way. 5 Details of your service managers who have refused my warranty claim so I can take you to consumer court. 6 I am paying EMI for a car which has been at your service center for 15 days - only to get an update. Who is going to bear that cost. I would like prospective buyers to rethink their decision on buying an Etios.

NothingWarranty claims not being honored - pls avoid this care

Exterior Exterior is ok and takes time to get used to.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Car is very poor on features and cost cutting is evident everywhere you look. Dashboard is very poor compared to other cars in this segment.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is better than the 1.3L available in the market, the car uses the 1.4L which is steady on speeds above 60kmph.

Ride Quality & Handling Poor ride and seats uncomfortable and not the best handling or driving pleasure you would expect from a toyota.

Final Words Must thoroughly review other options before buying this car. Must test drive before buying to avoid a rude shock as it is below par of what is expected of a Toyota product in my view.

Areas of improvement Everything except fuel economy demands improvement. Car is quite low on features and my car's steering is a little tilted while driving straight. Despite complaint to Toyota and dealer not much success as the dealer informed that there was little play in steering and they cant rectify this.

I spent more than 3 hours inspecting the vehicle very closely, compared quality of ETIOS with other toyota vehicles (Innova and Corolla) before i decided, it is worth buying despite some of the cons i mentioned. One of the main reasons being the Brand value Toyota has in comparision to other cars in the segment (Manza & Dzire).

Exterior Amazing looks from the front, and sides but without the crome finishing at the rear it looks like logan. Overall it has amazing looks. I felt the body to be delicate. The thickness of the metal is reduced to reduce overall weight of the vehicle so as to provide more mileage. I could bend the metal with bare hands without much effort. Still a plus here as it has the looks, passed the crash tests and safety norms despite delicate body. Comapred the body quality with Innova which also has similar quality before giving a plus here.

Also compared the body metal thickness with dzire and manza which are no doubt stronger than ETIOS but the mileage they give for a lower cc engine is a plus and also as mentioned above, ETIOS passed the crash tests and safety norms.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I'm not fully satisfied with the interior though the main plus is the space, comfort, and AC, rest all are a big minus in my opinion keeping Toyota brand in mind.

Front: Not happy with the Dashboard with indicators at the center. A tall driver (5' 11") may not sit comfortbly as the steering touches the legs while sitting and coming out of the vehicle. Little inconvenience there for tall drivers. Plastic quality is not impressive and not expected from the brand. Poor quality carpet which again is not expected from the brand. Sales person couldn't answer me if this is for the test drive vehicle or it would be the same for customer vehicles as well. Seat quality is not that impressive though they are comfortable to sit but the thickness is reduced to give more space/cut costs?

Rear seat is amazing. 3 people can sit very comfortbly with small kids can still sit/walk on the floor. Very comfortable even after bringing back the front seats to max extent. rear leg room is amazing and no other vehicles can match this. Another plus is the center person on the rear seat can sit very comfortably unlike other cars which doesn't have the flat floor (almost).

Boot: Huge boot space. Again the quality of sheet that covers the spare wheel in the boot is pathetic. It is a platic sheet covered with the carpet. A must go for a dicky mat. May be Toyota did a cost savings here as a dicky mat would do on this and is a paid accessory to the customer.

Amazing leg room at the front.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I somehow didn't get the feeling of driving a 1.5L engine. Test driven twice on 2 different road conditions but i'm not convinced with the pickup for some reason. My impression is the engine is tuned to give more mileage over greater pickup. The sales person was mentioning that the pick up is better than corolla's and was ready to take me as a co-driver and he would drive and prove i was wrong. Unfortunately, didn't get a chance as there were lot of people waiting for a test drive. But i would take the test drive once again. Could hear the noise (engine sound?) when giving more acceleration which generally is not seen in case of petrol vehicles with AC on. Gearshift is smooth.

Ride Quality & Handling Overall ride is good. Could hear the noise while closing the doors which again is not smooth and probably due to the rubber beading is of low quality. So not much insulation for the doors.

Final Words For the features, pricing, mileage, engine cc, and the brand a must go in comparision with other cars in the segment around this price range. Dzire is a 1250cc, less space while manza is huge but end of the day is a TATA vehicle with poor customer care. So, a definete go for ETIOS which comes from Toyota family. If ABS, Airbags, Alloy wheels, are not required but fine to spend 1.5 lakhs more than the top end of ETIOS, then VW Vento is a good choice. I booked the vehicle on 1st Dec (the day booking opened) and eagerly waiting for my delivery. Some of the cons can be covered through accessories at a price so not a big deal for a vehcile at this price from the brand.

Areas of improvement Plastics, carpet quality, seat thickness, rubber cushioning for doors, pick up.

Amazing space (esp rear seat), Boot space, looks, Mileage, brand, features for the pricePick up, Quality of interiors, plastics/carpet, strength of body metal, rubber insulation, wipers

Exterior Well-proportioned car with excellent paint-work. Looks pleasing from every angle. But definitely not a stunner like the City / Linea due to somewhat outdated styling & Loganesque rear profile. However, looks better than its main competition i.e. D'zire & Manza.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are not plush but are acceptable for the segment. The fit and finish is good and makes for a neat apearance. Good seat covers are a must in this car and improve the interior aesthetics substantially. Car is poor in features with long missing equipment list even on the top end model - e.g. seat height adjust, electric rear view mirrors, centre cabin light, door auto lock to name a few. At the same time, Toyota has provided a few thoughtful features like cooled glovebox and plenty of bottle-holders. Space is aplenty, be it in cabin or boot. Seats are surprisingly very comfortable, though not soft and cushiony. AC is effective. Single wiper works quite well and centre meter console does not pose any problem. All-round visibility is excellent.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is a bit noisy during the run-in period. I test-drove a car at show-room which had done 3500+ km and felt more refined and silent. I also read in a few reports that noise level comes down after about 2k run. Engine performance is amazing otherwise as it never loses breath. Pickup is great, Gearshift is smooth. Short and smooth clutch is a delight. FE not yet checked.

Ride Quality & Handling Taut suspensions result in a slightly bumpy ride at low speeds but ensures superb ride on highways. Handling is quite good with the car feeling steady even at 100+ kmph. Adequate ground clearance offers peach of mind. Electric power steering is light and precise, but lacks in feedback.

Final Words One of the most distinguishing feature for me in this sedan is effortless driving experience, the best for a sub-10 Lakh car, as I had also considered City and SX4 among other cars. It also offers great engine performance, plenty of space, excellent ride quality and decent handling. Keeping in mind the price, and the Toyota assurance of long-term reliability, the car is an absolute Value for Money.

Areas of improvement Providing essential features like electric-ORVM & centre cabin lights, Reduction in cabin NVH levels - especially the road noise.

Effortless driving, Toyota reliability promise, Good dynamics, thought ful featuresMissing features

Exterior The car looks very cute and boxy front bumper and smiling grill looks different and nice, the muscular line and the side skirts are nice. The rear tail lamp looks like logan and the chrome grill at the back is not everybody choice.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The tachometer looks very sporty and distinctive, the flat bottomed steering is very sporty, the seats are looks modified car seat, the audio system is not in built ,the placement of air cons are good and it really works, the large glove box is chilled i like that, the space is masive and it is the comfortable seats than all the cars in its segment the boot is very very big, you see it is larger than corolla altis.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is same in the honda city and explodes 90 ps and 140 nm. it is a very torqey engine spreads all over it feels like 100ps car,the gear shift is good for city drivr and it looks sporty,it is very responsive, mainly its a light weight car which is good so engine can work with less effort, this helps it to give a best in class fuel efficiency of 17.64kpl.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride is bestin its class which is perfectly suited for indian roads and handling is good at corner andit feels very light.

Final Words It is the most refined car in its class and this car you can buy without opening your eyes and this a car specially made for indians don't forget it.

Areas of improvement Double wipers, boot design, power steering should be offered in base model bacus even the santro offers ps, deliveries should done as soon as possible and lack of rear arm rest.

a large boot ,a glove box ,placement of air vents fuel efficiency andbrand name and a practial carno power steering in base model, boot styling

Exterior Looks average but better than desire and logan.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Looks good with space and comfort.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Company is promise 17/ltr on the high way and 13/ltr in cities. Toyota is know for its good engine especially when it comes to car's like qualis and innova.

Ride Quality & Handling We only have electric steering and not an engine power steering which is disappointing for a car which cost from 6.5 to 8 lakhs.

Final Words Overall looks like its value for money, a its a first of its kind for toyota in this segment looks like the car would be hit as toyota is wokered hard on this for quiet some time now.

Areas of improvement The car after its launch has been too late in responding to customer demands as we can only test drive on the first week of january, which is annoying and also the design could have been more stylish. no system for the car withe J and G version of the car which is another dappointment  especially for an entry level car.

suited for a family and when it comes to toyota there is always a trust that it will be good buylooks average and need to wait for alteast 5 months for the delivery

Exterior The exterior looks stunning, atleast the front portion but move on to the rear, it gives a very LOGANish look, but nevertheless, its a TOYOTA.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) A lot can be said about the interior, however I say that with the price bracket its 90% of what i expected, I own a Skoda Superb and I can vouch for the interiors but again the same is 4-5 times more expenive than the ETIOS. The interiors can be worked on and by spending another 50-60 k once can turn the interiors, with the music system, the seat covers et all, into a decent product interior wise.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Quite good, but I guess thats what is expected of a Toyota product. Pickup, fuel effecincy(claimed) and the smooth transition of gears makes it a good buy in this segment.

Ride Quality & Handling Again, with the light material used the handling is excellent but i guess it compromises on the pot holes of Indian Roads.

Final Words See, there are going to be pros and cons for every car, I bought the same because I drive my Skoda for looks but i needed something dependable and for everyday city traffic. I read that 50 k more there is vento , that is a debatable statement as after every 50k - 100k there is another offering, so how far are u going to go, my only point is that instead of buying a second hand sedan like the Altis or the Corolla or whatever or a small car like the i10 or i20 etc. etc. I buy this car knowing its the best in the SEGMENT.

      Areas of improvement Obviously interiors.
