Toyota Etios [2013-2014] User Reviews

Exterior I love the way it looks. While it is not a headturner by any means, it has sensible and practical that you will never get bore of. I got the black color one and I swapped the stocks with 15" steel alloys and yokohama tyres. Now it grips the road like a boss.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) There is ample of space inside, much more than Dzire, SX4, City and Verna. There are massive bottle holders on each door that can hold 1l bottles with ease. There is a super cool glove box that can keep your drinks chilled wherever you are. Practical interiors.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox One of the best cars ever driven by me. I have the petrol version and it weighs less than 1 tonne which gives it an excellent weight:power ratio. This translates to effortless acceleration thanks to 90bhp 1500 cc engine. Gearbox feels like the one in new car and mine is 3y old. Toyota knows how to make best gearboxes and engines for sure.

Ride Quality & Handling Very nice. While not as good as Honda City, it is definitely better than more expensive cars like Verna and SX4 that have poorer suspensions. It cruises at high speeds like a pro. That is why you see a lot of them in highways.

Final Words After driving the car from past 3 years and 15000 kms, I am yet to find anything of major concern with Etios. The after sales service is very cheap ; cheaper than Maruti Suzuki. The car is as reliable as other Toyota models and you enjoy the prestige of driving a Toyota.

Areas of improvement Make the tyres a bit wider for better grip. Still a better buy than Volkswagen and Hyundai where you get a very unreliable car with high maintenance costs (mine is ?3500/service).

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is not good. space is good. Body is very weak.

I have purchased Toyota Etios G variant with Petrol engine, on 23^rd March last Friday two days back at Ahmedabad. I am shocked on thoroughly inspection after taking delivery.

This is a basic Toyota vehicle.  There is not a single basic feature at all. The dash board is totally blank. There is no temperature indicator or a clock even. During test drive I could not notice this. My attention was only on the pickup and performance of the engine. I didn’t even imagine that there will be no temperature indicator or oil level indicator on the dash board. There is no stupid electronics clock.  How much it would have been cost to Toyota to install these features.  I know it can cost 100 or 200 bucks to install an electronics clock. And the temperature indicator may not cost much to them as they are buying all these gadgets in large quantity.  These small electronics gadgets cost nothing when you are considering a car. When we are spending more than six hundred thousand rupees, we don’t mind to spend few hundred rupees more for these small but important gadgets. And you could have given it without charging a single buck extra in this price. I was aware that there is no music system or ABS in this G model, but I can’t imagine that there is no temperature Indicator or oil level indicator. This is not a special feature; it is a basic requirement of a car.  And this should be even with the basic model, and G is one step ahead than the basic model.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox good.

I can get installed the music system outside or avoid it, but I don’t know how can I install the temperature indicator or oil indicator. When we buy a house we don’t ask the builder that, is there a toilet in the house or not?  Even an ordinary car has this indicator. Without temperature indicator, you are unable to notice the condition of your engine. With this indicator, you can know that your engine is at a normal temperature or at medium temperature or it is at high temperature, so it will indicate that there is not enough coolant or engine oil. These will help you to top up engine oil or coolant and it will save your engine.

In this car you will notice only after your engine is extremely over heated and steam coming out of it, and then you will find the warning indicator. And that would be too late to stop damaging to your engine. There must be continuing indication for this purpose.

Final Words

  Toyota has under estimated Indian customer. I am asking open question to Toyota management that do you consider Indian customers as a stupid customer that they will buy a stupid vehicle without a single basic feature.  We are buying your vehicles not your engine only. There are good engine in Maruti, Hunai, and Honda car. Even Tata is coming with best Fiat engine. We are buying Toyota car for something more.

People have bought your vehicle in hurry because of March ending and budget fear over looking this small basic requirement. In US you were forced to call back millions of your vehicles.  I will unite the entire Toyota Etios customer to get our rights to get the basic requirement in a car costing more than six lacs rupees. I invite all customers to unite and fight for our basic need in a car. I appreciate Carwale website to provide most helpful information to the Indian customers. And this is the best platform for Indian people to express their views.

Etios was the choice. I took a test drive of the V model. It was surely,terrific!! But I booked the G model in Beige,not demo car 's Red. Registration of Etios in showroom was 'ETiOS'. The car was out and registered A/F. But- Lacks some small frills, like CD/MP3 Player. Sober grey interiors, really limit appeal.

But for other things, Etios is really great.Like looks,space and comfort,image.build quality,engine refinement,handling and ride,price and Badge as well. A JBL speaker set is fitted and Company-fitted audio like V/VX Music system.

As soon as it gets registered properly, I will put alloys and rear spoiler. Etios is the best car in the whole India. The car 's gradings-

This car is the best. I love it a lot!! My friend crashed his Etios VX December  2010. It was totalled. Etios buyers,when your car is delivered,do not crash it!!!

Etios is the Boss, Etios is the King, Now let us see what happens to Etios Liva... Maybe it will also be the King and Boss of Polo/Micra.

The service is a major problem. They are not able to fulfill the basic warranty period demands of the customer. No response after making so many calls and Mails. In new car DVD system do not work properly.

I was feeling proud when I bought this car now I feel fooled  by purchasing this car by thinkig just about the global name of toyota.

1. The speakers of the  in-built system of the car are no wrking properly . After made complaint, initially they did not responded. later on they repaired but again it is not functioning.& the company is unable to even repair it, replacing would be a joke. They are passing the warranty period. 
2. The tyre which burst during the warranty period, which was even insured by dealer and i paid 5000/- extra on the name of Toyota Insurance, the company has refused to replace the same. After making so many cals to toyota india in banglore I did not get any satisfactory response. Local dealer do not respond to calls.

Exterior Poor quality material, now left reverse tail light . though it is important.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Low quality fabrics low quality seat  fabrics covers, and seat it self,low quality bumpers, low quality interior desh board. Bumpy ride and less pickup. seems that the designer has considered only space and thought that we indians consider only fuel effeciency and nothing else. its a very poor model. i am totally disappointed

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Make sound, clutch is hard and also gear shifting is hard

Ride Quality & Handling Seats are depressing, Driver can not easily see the the road.

Areas of improvement The DEALER of TOYOTA are trying to encash the good will of company by showing their attitude and stubburn rudeness to customers thinking that as the TOYOTA products are high on mind of public and reputed they NEED NOT BOTHER ABOUT CUSTOMER AT ALL. The potential buyer should not buy even these have to say bye.

Areas of improvement Suspension is very poor and gives jerk to the whole car, Tail light, interior  shoud be of tough quality, suspension shoud be strong.

Areas of improvement Provide the power steering in base model also. toyota is not very much success with petrolcars in india, may this vehicle will change this thing also .also we want it into diesel version in coming month.also improve the dealership facility & delership handling persons who are not as per requirement wih this problem cus.is not fully satisfied.

This aspect is extremely visible at TOYOTA GALAXY, KOTLA MUBARAK PUR, SOUTH EXTN, NEW DELHI. I happen to visit the show room FOUR TIMES for test drive of ITIOS but all the times they mentioned that vehicle is not available and ignored request on one pretext or other. and now finally started saying that now they are not giving vehicle for test drive. if such attitude continue than it is certain that customer will stop buying vehicle from such vender and company will lose market as i have decided to take some other brad of vehicle due to fear of poor and unkind after sales services.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent ride quality and handling. Ride quality is good on highways and city also. Handling is excellent on all the roads. Power steering is very good.

 

Final Words Toyota needs to improve in making the car perfect in all the factors. toyota would have given speakers in rear doors than on the dashboard..the look of music system is not at all good. It would have been given the music system of corolla altis.

 

Areas of improvement Exterior body and tail lamps. Music system. Waiting period of the vehicle. Single wiper makes the car look bad and it has many disadvantages like it does not clean the mirror completely that two wipers do. All the batteries would have been given exide only than tata green batteries. It would be good if the spare wheel is also made of alloy.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Plastic, music system could have been better. Comfort, space is very good. 5 people can easily ride. Huge trunk space.

Ride Quality & Handling Smooth ride and excellent handling. power steering is very good. Turning rarius is small. breaks are very good. Specially ABS is helpful.

 

Final Words Go for it. add some accessories to enhance interiors and its a good buy. Engine is good. boot space is big enough Drive is very comfortable and you can enjoy long drives. Very good engine performance. smooth gear shifting. very good for city as well as highway driving.

 

Areas of improvement It only has front speakers. interiors could have been better. single reverse light was surprising. long wait for delivery.
