Exterior It is just beautiful. The entire shape is so nice, others are all about curves, and special design languages, but this car, IMHO, is just a timeless beauty. There are no panel gaps, no flaw on the entire body.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The music system has been upgraded and design is very nice. A reverse parking sensor has been added and display is on the music system screen. Simple and beautiful. No aux input is irksome as is the USB without an iOS support! The rest feel very classy, loved the feel. It feels like a rich place to be in.
There are good storage spaces on this car; the boot in fact has more usable space than my dZire though the volume is lesser. A Bluetooth kit supplied with the car and works very well.
The space however is good. I am almost six feet tall, and even with me driving, the rear seat passengers have decent space.
The front seats are very good without doubt with good lumbar and thigh support. The seats are slightly hard and it is just fantastic on slightly longer drives and also very good for people with slight/any type of back problems like me. The rear seats are slightly short on thigh support, but still good enough.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox If you keep an even throttle, then the engine is dead silent, highly tractable too – Excellent!! While accelerating, it almost feels like a sports car and above 2500 rpm also feels like one!!
Fuel economy: on short drives (less than 3-4 kms), about 11-12 kmpl. However, on longer drives (more than 7-8kms), I have managed to extract upwards of 15kmpl and even 18.3 on a drive of 28 kms. The last full tank to full tank was during my sister’s wedding, during which period, I was always driving in peak traffic with the aircon on, and the average I got was 14.26 kmpl.
The gearbox on this car is excellent, no false gears, ever. Just a word of caution, do as the owners’ manual says and only engage the reverse gear once the car is fully stopped.
Ride Quality & Handling The suspension is just amazing, no bumps felt at all. Drive reasonably and it feels a class above the other hatchback ride quality.
The chassis is very stiff and rigid, and this translates to good handling. The steering is quite direct too, and the straight ahead position is not vague. The unit weighs up at speed and is quite a joy to drive. The turning radius is also very good, just less than 4.9m. Body roll is also very well contained. I believe in accelerating just after the apex of a corner and also take corners at high speeds. This car really gives me a lot of confidence to do so, the grip of the tyres is also very good.
Final Words As I have mentioned before, I am in love with this car, and have a wonderful feel for it.This car deserves the high praise I am attributing to it.
Areas of improvement
1. Kindly add an aux support and iOS support to the music system.
2. Since this is a good car to use on the highway, an inbuilt GPS unit would be handy. I have one unit on the dZire (MapMyIndia – vx140) and it works really well.
3. Little more thigh support on the rear seats.
4. Electrically foldable OVRMs.
5. Cooled glove box.
6. Seatbelt warning.
7. Light in the boot.
