When will the VinFast VF9 be launched?
VinFast hasn't confirmed the launch date of the VF9. However, it will be interesting to see if the VF9 will come as a CBU or CKD model. On the other hand, the carmaker recently began the construction work of its factory in India.
What variants will it get?
We expect the VF9 to be offered in Eco and Plus trims, with the former boasting the longest driving range and the latter packed with many more luxurious features.
What features will be available in the VF9?
The exterior design in itself is a USP with famed Italian Pininfarina styling it, though the VF9 is manufactured in Vietnam. This global product is a large vehicle and can accommodate three rows of seats. It's a well-equipped cabin with several lucrative features that include a large 15.6-inch infotainment display. It forms the 'digital cockpit' without any instrument cluster but a heads-up display on the windshield. The Plus variant offers more luxury features, including leather upholstery, captain seats in the second row, massage function, and a panoramic glass roof. The carmaker's vision was to maximise comfort inside this vehicle and provide advanced technology to users. In fact, VinFast has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment for the in-car streaming service as a part of the new entertainment features. Apart from these, the VF9 also gets intelligent driver-assistance features including Level 2 ADAS.
What will be the battery pack, powertrain, and specifications of the model?
All models come with a 402hp (397bhp)-producing dual-motor electric powertrain. It gets all-wheel drive and the torque is rated at 620Nm. The VF9 will be offered exclusively with a 123kWh battery pack. And though it's a massive vehicle, its claimed 0-100kmph sprint time stands at just 6.3 seconds.
What will be the charging time and range of the VF9?
The Eco trim of the VF9 has received 330 miles (531km) of certified EPA range, while the Plus variant has got 291 miles (468km). These figures are surprisingly better than the initial estimates of 272 miles (438km) and 262 miles (422km), respectively. VinFast says the VF9 can charge from 10 to 70 per cent in 35 minutes.
Is the VF9 a safe car?
Apart from the aforementioned safety features such as ADAS with automatic emergency braking and blind-spot detection, the VF9 also gets 11 airbags. Any information about its assessment for any crash tests has not been confirmed yet.
What will be the rivals to the VF9?
Globally, the VinFast VF9 for its size and price of USD 81,000 (Rs. 67.12 lakh) goes up against the Rivian R1S that's on sale. However, it will also rival the upcoming Kia EV9, which is an offering from an established brand, unlike Rivian, which is a start-up.
