Safety at its Best

1.) Buying experience of new 2020 Tata Nexon is good because with its upgraded engine is now marginally peppier and smoother than before, but the hesitant power delivery does affect low-speed driveability. It feels tough, with an improvement in perceived quality and overall fit and finish. If you want tough SUV, love design and comfortable Compact SUV, the new 2020 Nexon should be high up on your shortlist. It starts from 6.95 lakhs to 11.20 lakhs for petrol variants, it is still a terrific value for money. 2.) The driving experience of this car is much smoother in petrol than previous model and has a broader torque spread, but through the power delivery is more progressive, it is interrupted by distinct flat spots and snatchy throttle response at low speeds. Nexon delivers pleanty of confidence at high speed manners, specially in a straight line. Nexon has the best steering feel in its class, even better than the Ford Ecosport and that's saying something. 3.) Looks of this car is quite extensive and there a number of changes especially at the front because it gets new grille and sleeker headlights, as well as a new bumper which has C-shaped, surrounds neatly boxing in the lower light cluster make it a new more SUV like. Tata has made bonnet taller and flatter and this has allowed the design team more freedom with the headlight styling. Performance of this car in three-cylinder 1.2-litre turbo petrol is very good because when it fire up and there is a bit of a rocking motion at idle. Once it has crossed 1800-2000 rpm, so if you want sustained performance, you have to keep it above those revs. It takes 0-100 in 13.01 seconds. While the overall performance is more than acceptable. 4.) Servicing and maintenance of this car is very reasonable when we talk about Annual Maintenance Cost for three years is around 17000 at 45,000 kms in petrol variant. Nexon service for 5 years is around 22,000 at 75,000 kms in 5 yeras. Tata also gives 3 years of extended warranty. 5. Pros and Cons A.) PROS 1.) In terms of safety, Tata Nexon is the first local model in India, which received a 5 star rating on global NCAP. 2.) Nexon's high strength steel structure absorbs the impact energy and protects the passenger cabin from deformation during an unfortunate collision. 3.) In terms of safety features it includes ISOFIX child seats, dual front airbags, ABS with EBS as standard. 4.) It also offered advance active safety technology such as ESP, Traction Control, Roll Over Mitigation, Hill Hold Control, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Pre Fill, Brake Disc Wiping as standard, rain sensing wipers, Tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlights. Nexon is greatly improved by all these features and techniques. 5.) Nexon's cabin is more familiar and the design of the solid-looking dash with free-standing screen at the centre, is carried over, and with the neatly executed chrome chrome-lined vents vents, it works very well too. 6.) The new sporty flat-bottom steering wheel is new, that tri arrow pattern is also featured on the dash and gets instrument cluster is now a digital LCD panel. 7.) While the build of the dashboard feels tough and quality of materials used in the Nexon is much better and feels very premium. 8.) It gets multi-drive modes Eco, City and Sport which enhances the comfort level of driving. 9.) Tue new nexon gets Tata's IRA connected car tech and included in the software suit is the 'what3words' navigational aid. Another cool and unique feature is Xpress Cool function for the AC, which drops the driver's window to vent the hot air from the cabin for faster cooling. Also it gets Electronic sunroof and 8 speaker Harman sound System. 10.) The nexon has always a comfortable SUV to sit with wide and roomy cabin. At the front, seats are placed at a good height, they are wide and there is fair amount of space in driver's footwell. At the back 3 people can sit comfortably with sufficient legroom and headroom. 11.) Best Ground Clearance in its segment with 209mm. CONS:- 1.) 6 Speed AMT doesn't feel very smoothly and it feels jerky jerky on the highways. 2.) 6 speed manual gearbox isn't slickest. Yes, it is light, you don't need to exert too much effort, but the throws are long, the gear lever is bit too tall. 3.) Tata's BS6 petrol engine still lacks sophistication and capability of the new breed of turbo-petrols. 4.) The light clutch is snappy, all of which conspire to make the Nexon not as city friendly as it's rivals. 5.) Shorter service / check up intervsl of 6 months & 7500 kms as opposed to 1year &10,000 to 12,000 kms. 6.) 3 cylinder petrol engine is provided to improve petrol mileage but can't match 4 cylinder competition in NVH and lagging. 7.) Resale value of Tata cars are little less - need to see how it performs in resale market after few years. 8.) Tata's inconsistent after-sales experience is pathetic. 9.) Ergonomics not so convenient in having extremely comfortable ride. Getting into the vehicle is not easy. 10.) Touchscreen infotainment features are ineffective, navigation function is often disconnected. Voice commands in actual use is not accurate. 11.) It has many storage points but ineffectively used, even quite difficult to accommodate 1.0 litte bottle.
