I bought Indica V2 Turbo DLS BS III in June 2006 – my 1st car. I bought this car after having driven almost all small segment cars. I have since driven 40K kms in 3 & half years. 60% on highway & 40% in city. I have always re-fueled the tank full and have measured the mileage each time. The mileage I constantly get in city is 16.5-17.5 kmspl and on highways 21-22 kmspl (@ speed of 80/85 kmsph). It’s a very economical car - per KM cost in city works out between Rs.2.20 & on highway Rs.1.75.
The car is very spacious, comfortable & smooth running vehicle - I have undertaken long trips - driving upto 650-750 kms per day. The stability/road grip is fantastic and the AC is very effective. Unlike non-turbo version of Indica, its pick-up is not sluggish even with AC on. The initial pick-up cannot be compared with that of a petrol car of its segment but later on it is as good. The roll-on acceleration, as in all diesel cars, is very good.
It’s comfortable for city drive as well - though handling is not as easy as it is in WagonRs, Santros & the like. Nevertheless, it is only a matter of getting used to it - especially as you don’t get to see an inch of bonnet (howsoever tall you may be).
It’s a very sturdy & safe car with a strong body. The interiors are sufficiently good / more than good for the cost of the car (higher versions DLG/DLX have better interiors & more facilities). The Turbo model has since been discontinued. The engine is now used in Vista TDi with little more power & torque.
Fuel efficient, spacious & comfortable, sturdy & safeNothing as such, for the price it comes at
