Exterior Very nicely finished and the shape is not butch like other SUVs in class, it actually is quite elegant.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good space in front, rear is OK, third row is not for long haul. Seats are well finsihed but the leather should have darker color for dusty India.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is the smoothest and quietest in its class, one of the reasons we rejected Fortuner and Pajero. Its power delivery is excellent compared to the other contenders. The automatic box that many criticize as being slow is actually very smart and not prone to hyper shifts like in others. Also there are no jerks felt during shift process unlike in the Fortuner.
Ride Quality & Handling Another plus for India, the ride over basic pot holed Indian roads is way better than others, especially over truck like skittish Fortuner. However the suspension spring rates need to be stiffer for off roads as they tend to sag early.
Final Words Excellent value for money, elegant looks and engine with heart of GOLD. No other engine in its classapproaches the surge that this one gives.
Areas of improvement Mahindra needs a separate showroom with educated sales crew to market this. You can't bundle the Bolero buyer with the Rexton one. Same goes for Mahindra's pathetic service units which are crowded with Bolero trucks, Scorpio taxis etc. Also Mahindra needs serious revamp and training for crew handling Rexton.
