A pwoerfull engine, great performance , on gear shift you have to accomodate the turbo lag once you are used too it doesnot affect at all, mileage I got 9-10 in mixed condition. Overall a very good package to buy and own. Excellent for the long drive and country ride. Safety features are allmost all.

Exterior😗 Looks great in Black! The projector head lamps look super. Badging is excessive and could be toned down.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Infotainment touch screen could be better. I had trouble connecting my Samsung Galaxy 3 with the system. Front and second row seats are comfortable. The third row seats are, essentially, unusable.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Excellent, except that it does not have the necessary 'kick' to surge ahead, when required, on the highway at high speed. Strains over speeds of 100 kmph.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent, by and large. However, noticeable body roll on turns at high speed. Ideally, there could have been options for soft and hard suspension (interchangeable). Off road capability is good.
Final Words Head turner, especially, as there are still not too many on the roads. Its performance on the road and in the market will determine its resale value, which is also a consideration in purchasing a car.
Areas of improvement The cabin whistles at high speed, very likely, due to improper sealing of sun roof.

Exterior Descent Looking Exterious. Its a personal Choice but I liked the Sturdy Look. The Pre fitted side step was a very good addition. Little more Chrome on the body would have been much better.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good Driving Position and Driver Seat. Middle seat is also Ok but the last seat is horrible. It felt like as if sitting on the Vehicle body floor with a cusion at the back. There is absolutely no thigh support. They should have made the seat slightly higher with at least some thigh support. There is too much beige in the interiors. The dash board color is black which is good. they Should have used some dark fabric or Uphostery on the roof and the sides. The Leather Seat Quality is very good and feels Luxurious. The Sunroof / Moonroof is an excellent and thoughfull feature which puts this vehicle well above its competitors. The Dashboard Cluster is very neatly laid out and gives a very Luxurios feel. There are four Charging Points which are again a very good feature. The Second and third Row AC are OK.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Oh Boy One Excellent Engine with No Noise and no Vibration even from Outside. When Inside it dosent feel Like a Diesel Engine. The Drive is very Smooth Brakes are excellent even at high Speed. The Manual Gear Change Option on the steering is also good for Driving Enthisiasts.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent Drive Quality. A car which is very good for Self Drivers. Very Good ground clearence. The Potholes were not even felt.
Final Words Very Good Vehicle at the Price Point Currently Available in India. Much Better Than the Automatic Fortuner and Santa FE both of Which I have driven. I havent driven the Latest Chevrolet Captiva Automatic All Wheel Drive. I am Surely Buying this Car.
Areas of improvement Third Row Seat and the All Beige Interiors.

I am an auto enthusiast and I normally keep checking the features, road tests and even do test drives of the vehicles. When I decided to buy a new SUV I started with Fortuner and almost made my mind for 4x2 automatic but at the same time I wanted to try Pajero and Rexton automatic (RX7). After marathon test drives I decided to go with the most powerful engine (torque and bhp) and the best in class interiors i.e. Rexton RX7. It also has the highest ground clearance amongst three which gives better offroad capability along with slightly more turning radius but I did not consider that as a hassle as this is the last thing you see when you are buying a 2 ton SUV. I was really delighted to see the features like electric seat adjustments, good quality plastics etc. I alos saw comprehensive reviews. road tests and comparisons (with volvo X60 etc) of Rexton on youtube (from eastern European countries mainly, where this vehicle is a huge success). Last but not the least, I also checked that Mahindra has 78% stake in Ssangyong which means this is an acquisition, not partnership (like they had with Renault for Logan). Mahinrda is going to stick with this product forever.
I got my Rexton on 14th of Feruary 2014 from Noida. Since then I have driven this 10000 kms in the first 3 months which make the average of 100kms/day. I had the following long trips:
1. Noida to Singrauli (1100 kms one way)
2. Noida to Buxar (1060 kms one way)
3. Noida to Jim Corbett (380 kms one way)
4. Noida to Jalandhar (430 kms one way)
5. Noida to Agra
I even drove this vehicle for 500+ kms in a stretch and this vehicle really performed better than my expectations. There was no leakage from the sunroof even at constant high speeds at Taj expressway. Engine sound is slightly at the higher side but I am quite happy with the sound proofing. There is initial turbo lag of 1-1.5seconds but after the first few seconds or above 40km/hour… the engine is just fantastic and rules the segment. It reached from 0-100 in less than 11 seconds which is fantastic for the vehicle of this dynamics
Suspension is on a bit softer side if we compare with other two which makes it best for the city as well as the highway driving (instead of being only a offroad or highway car). Average fuel efficiency is around 8kmpl which is satisfactory for me given the package I am getting.

I purchased Rexton RX7 this Sunday the 15th June 2014 from Koncept Mahindra , Sector 2, Noida after serious research of 15 days. Below are some points which i noticed in 3 days.
Pros
1. Amazing looks,
2. Silent cabin when speed is above 60 kms/ hrs.
3. Beautiful interiors.
4. Value for money.
5. Comfortable Seats.
6. Good Speakers.
7. Cabin Light.
Cons:
1. I noticed in all the cars in showroom , including mine while taking delivery, there is manufacturing defect in the trunk door, its not adjusted well and the edges of door are not symmetrical. I made a complaint and the dealer accepted this and tried to get it fixed in the workshop, they even fixed it upto 90% but left a small dent in the process and they promised ( in written ) to change the door on the coming 25th June. ( Shall update when they change the door, which will prove their service quality and customer Satisfaction parameters ).
2. There is a turbo lag during initial pick up in Automatic Transmission and engine makes noise, but once the vehicle speeds up, its very silent.
3. The kenwood music system is from old age, not much features and without remote control, so in my chauffeur drive car, its difficult as i have to ask driver for each and everything related to music system.
4. I got the rear camera fixed from the showroom on cost, the worst thing is that every time you put reverse gear, you have to press a button of Reverse camera on music system console to have a rear view and after you are done, you again have to push the button to bring the music system back to music or navigation mode. Yes, its not automatic and camera doesn't open soon you put the reverse gear like all other cars. This is very frustrating.
5. Navigation system is nice and accurate but the missing part is the live traffic , same as in google maps. i think its very important in a city like Delhi or any other metro. i am still using my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for Live traffic on google maps. So, my suggestion is to install a good music system with sim card facility to enable the internet for getting live traffic along with the navigation.
6. Third Row is congested and is only for kids. I am thinking of getting it customised like in Fortuner, divided in two parts, so that i can use half space for luggage and at the same time half can be used to seat person.
Shall update you guys more on the car on points like AWD & Fuel Economy after i am done several thousand kilometres.
Hope my review is useful for you guys and i also hope that team Mahindra will take the cons into notice and try to work on it.

From outside it look massive, simple & stylish. Prominent wheel arches, stylish grill & head lamp assembly,beautiful park lights etc augments its external look.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Simple yet neat dash board,good quality & soft plastics, perfect fit & finish, spacious cabin, well supporting leather seats, automatic seat positioning(driver),excellent seat position & road visibility, automatic sunroof, silent cabin, Good music system, Good navigation system (may mislead in Kerala); overall stylish premium interiors. A/c vents in all 3 rows, four DC power outlets improve convenience.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Silent & smooth engine, linear acceleration, great power, smooth transmission, not sure about its fuel economy (it is not practical in congested Kerala roads) but get somewhat good mileage.
Ride Quality & Handling
Good braking & midline stability, no body roll during normal use, good suspension, nice steering control; overall excellent ride quality

Awesome SUV for this price.
Areas of improvement
It will be better if middle row seat get sliding function. Also reverse camera should come as standard fitting.

Exterior Very stylish and catches attention.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very comfortable. The way the back seats can be converted as a bed is an excellent feature. During our long trips we really utilized this feature to its best. The middle seat is comfortable but the back seat is not very comfortable for adults.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good engine performance gives a 9.5 km/l in city and approximately 10.5 km/l on long drive. One observation - on steep hill the vehicle tend to move backward even when the gear is on D.
Ride Quality & Handling Excelent stearing control and not at all tyring. drove from Coching to Bhopal and back approx 6000 Km and loved driving the RX7
Final Words If milage is not of concern an excelent choice.
Areas of improvement
1) Touch screen control for GPS has to improve.
2) Bluetooth Mic quality has to improve.
3) Rear seat needs to be modified so that adults can sit comfortably.

Exterior Bigger and smarter than comparable SUV's. Head turner. Lokks great with LED lights on at night. From the side it looks sleeker than the bulky Fortuner that I test drove a number of times before settling for Rexton.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)Cabin space and seats are comfortable. 2nd row is spacious and very comfortable. Third row is low and only comfortable for children. AC is good. Rear AC for third row is also v good.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine has sufficient power I once drove into quicksand-like mud and the R front wheel got stuck. I was wondering what to do when a passerby advised me to put it in reverse gear. He said AWD drive would pull it out. It did and easily.
I am getting a fuel average of 10.5 km/l in city driving with AC. 11.5 on highways. It really depends how you handle the vehicle. frequent /sudden acclereration and brakings are pointless in city driving. A bike is perhaps better for one thus predisposed. The 2nd service at 20000 is due. Economy should improve.
Ride Quality & Handling There is no cabin noise really. No vibrations. Suspension is so smooth it gives a sedan-like comfort. Brakes are awesome. There is a lag in pick-up on auto-drive that can be offset in manual mode. However I always prefer the autodrive mode.
Final Words Really value for money. My friend wanted me to buy his Fortuner. I asked him to test drive Rexton. I said I'd do whatever he said after he test drove rexton. Post test-drive he told me to buy Rexton. I am satisfied !

Treffic suspension. Noiseless spacious cabin. Auto adjustable driver seat.Automatic lights and wiper1-2 sec lag in pick-up. Weak head-lights on Highway-driving
