Now with the new looks and loads of goodies the new laura is a better package. I particularly liked the automatic version as it simplifies driving around in city esp. Delhi. The suspension felt strong and is tried and tested on Indian roads. The gear box is fabulous and and very smooth and you even have an option of manual shift even in the automatic version.
The pumpe duse engine may be slightly noisy but a great performer/excellent fuel eco(better than CRDI). The VW Jetta uses the same engine in India. A very useful feature is the parking sensors at the rear. With a number of dealers, ASS wont be much of a hassel. I have booked the Laura Ambiente AT as it is a great VFM. Other cars that I looked at were VW Jetta AT, Honda Civic. Toyota Corolla.......... Though Jetta is v good but over priced. Civic just looked like some video game with low GC due to soft suspension, Corolla went down on looks and styling.
Overall, Skoda Laura is a great car and is fun to drive. It also comes with a 2 yr unlimited warranty.
- I have driven this car for 2 months now and let me tell you that its a complete delight. The car returned a decent average of 13.45 kmpl in city driving (Gurgaon and Delhi) and I have been using the ac on n off. The DSG Gearbox is simply fabulous and flawless. Surprisingly the turning radius is very good that makes the car easy to maneuvre. ABS & EBD works just fine giving you the confidence to push the car to the limit. The suspension is strong and one may feel the ride slightly bumpy but this can be taken care of by reducing the tyre press. slightly. One thing though - Skoda should have provided leather seats, however it isn't a big prob. To me an automatic version made sense as it simplifies driving to a great deal......Ofcourse if ur a teenager and looking for that extra grunt ............. then go for the manual version.
