Renault, a recognized name in cars across the globe, launches a new vehicle “KWID” in an attempt to capture the hatchback low cost vehicle market. Well I have to say, it is a horrible attempt. The reason for me calling it a lying machine will be evidently clear in the passage below.
I have quiet a few cars, some hatch backs some sedans some SUV’s. I have driven it all and this article is because you can do so much more with just the same amount you pay for KWID. The KWID AMT is the top model in the series.
To begin with, I purchased the vehicle from gen next Renault showroom in vashi . The ordeal begins from here. I was not interested in the look and feel of the car, I just wanted an automatic car, with great fuel efficiency, so I just called them to my office and asked them about the car. I finalized the deal, without taking a test drive based on only Two thing : The sales man said the car will be delivered in two days, and the average is 24 kmpl. I asked the sales man a hundered times and he said “Yes sir, in our AMT model the average is 24kmpl”. I believed the company and not the sales man, I agreed to pay 50 thousand as booking amount.
On the date of delivery I am told that it is not possible, the sales man and his manager come to my office and the sales man tries to put false claims on me. Rather than fighting back, I withdrew my booking and told them I will be happy to cancel my booking. That charged them up and they delivered it the next day.
Later they wanted to charge me 1.5 % extra. Why?Because I paid with my credit card. Local electronic vendors and people who started using the swipe machine after the note ban do this. I did not expect a company like Renault to do this. I told them this is unethical, and I again wanted to withdraw my booking and that is when they cancelled the extra 1.5 % charge.
I took a drive when my car was delivered. The interiors are wore than a S.T bus , the system was making some noise. It has only a single wiper, just like an auto rickshaw. But I had no problems with it because the car had an average of 24kmpl.
So that weekend I took the car and to test its mileage I took a local drive with a full tank. 28 liters of fuel would last at least for 672 kms as per the company claims. Even if I consider an average of 18 kmpl it should last 504 kms. Well to my dismay the fuel tank dropped to almost the end, only 250 kms from Mumbai.
If you want to waste your money, KWID is the answer. If you want to annoy your enemies with a costly gift, KWID is the answer. I have just driven it for 300kms and I willingly want to sell it off for 4.8 lacs, a lac for just using it for 300 kms.
For me KWID is a QUIT.
